I'm studying organic chemistry, hydrocarbon. And I thought probably there is someone that doing this awesome reaction of methane + 2o2... So here I am... Very cool 😎
I just seen a piece about ppl burning methane that was rising up out of a lake, I was left wondering were they doing it because it looks pretty or do they do it to reduce the amount of methane released into the atmosphere, hope you know because I won’t stop wondering about it, till I find out..I’ll keep looking in the meantime..organic chemistry that sounds cool..
If hydrogen is used for filling the water bubbles, then the bubbles just detonated, creating a shockwave. But when methane is used to fill the water bubbles, they just went deflagration (No shockwave). Can somebody answer why and what's the difference between Hydrogen & Methane in this perspective?
Because there is a difference in energy. Hydrocarbons (Methan) combusting usually don't give off that much energy (shockwave). While hydrogen bubbles react more violently, therefore there is a bigger release of energy (boom)
In order for a gas to explode, it needs to have a good ration of oxygen to fuel. Methane needs more oxygen than hydrogen. Hydrogen is closer to the ideal 2:1 ratio and therefore pops easier. That is my opinion
CH4 + 2 O2 + input energy in form of a flame or spark -> 2H2O + CO2 + energy as you can see a stinky gas gets converted into a liquid and an odorless gas
I can think of 2 ways this video could have got 77 million views.... 1. His words are just short of good innuendo several times. eg. "If I stick it in here, I can create a fireball in 'my' beaker." ...oooo so close, so close. 'your' beaker = 77 million views, ..... or , "II thought it might be fun for you to hold it in your hand, and .... light it on fire." Actually, that one works, lol Bubbles, her going oooo, oooo, ooo, lol 2. If he lit her on fire....

Yea totally true 👍

Two questions--
What created the bubbles? Was that CO2?
And does CH4 react with H2O in room temperature?
What about the difference in energy between methane & propane ?
Methanol burns with an invisible flame which is why it is no longer used in racing cars.
Hie ....Is there any chemical or solution that can be used in underground coal mines to minimize methane explosions or to absorb methane
Hoo that was awesome
🖕
When we liquefy the water we get from this reaction whether we get pure water? PLEASE TELL WITHIN TODAY..
till this day there is no answer
No evaporation happens it's just CH4
Burning
This is how SpaceX Raptor Engine works PogU

And does CH4 react with H2O in room temperature?
I believe the bubbles when the balloon was released into the beaker were methane gas bubbles
No it doesn't react H20 CH4 only reacts with organic compounds
@@cainlies250 It does react with H2O at above 600 degrees centigrade
is this a chemical change or physical change if so, why?
chemical. The methane is being broken down into carbon, which will create carbon dioxide, and the hydrogen is being turned into water
CH4 + 2 O2 + input energy in form of a flame or spark -> 2H2O + CO2 + energy
as you can see a stinky gas gets converted into a liquid and an odorless gas
Chemical as it can’t be reversed and changes form.
@@iPadtutorial99ROBLOX Wrong, it's burning in the presence of oxygen(combustion). It's not a decomposition reaction. But yeah it's a chemical change
@@Humbulla93 methane is odorless, you dumbass
Can anyone tell the chemical reaction equation for this?
Ch4+02 ---- Co2 +h20
The balanced equation is
2CH4 +3O2- 2CO+4H2O
The reaction is CH4 (g) + 2O2 (g) ------> CO2 ↑ + 2H20 (l) + Heat + Light
It is an exothermic reaction
Can everybody answer me a question, please ? Does methane burn without heat and oxygen ? I need the answer for my homework :((((
No
I am not sure tho
Methane requires oxygen to burn
Titan is filled with liquid methane.
Is "octane" in gasoline is the same such as metane, hexane,"octane",tetrane, septane?
same idea just different amounts of carbon and hydrogen

Anyone else get this video for school?
My hydrocarbon lecturr just over , and im here to see
Missing chemistry lab due to covid
me who never entered lab 😐cause our school never let us to get in :(
When I came here for my exam last day revision
It was just Awesome.....
Amazing
Awesome :))!.
Just kidding, he's obviously the witch she's the stooge
That was not cool . That was hot 🔥
awesome
Nerdy derby 😍
Nice
I love it
Someday the earth will be burned with methan 🙂 90461
