      ScreenPrism I noticed that you said that the heroes of the story start of wearing white and the villains start off wearing black which makes me think about the stormtroopers in how they are always wearing white which means that in their story their the good guys

    This was a great analysis of Han's character! Han's complexity is great and I can still remember my excitement the first time I really watched Star Wars and saw Han and Chewie fly back into a battle to help Luke.

    Even though I’ve never fallen in love with Han as others have, because I always was (and still am) much more of a Luke guy. I appreciated what Han stood for in others because while I lean very much Jedi, Force, faith, and all that, my life is not others’ lives and I wouldn’t want it to be. To have the cowboy realist be just as much a hero as the magic knight of faith and the two of them actually become brothers in more ways than one, to me, seems like a truly healthy unity.

    The story of Han Solo in the original trilogy is one of the greatest transformations in the Star Wars Universe. He goes from a cynical selfish person to a selfless caring person. The death of Han Solo is probably the most tragic because he goes to confront his son as a man. Han most likely he might die but for the love Leia he made last attempt to bring him. In the end he was slained by his own son. The ultimate sacrifice was to save his son

    Han Solo is one of the most interesting characters because he isn’t royalty, he doesn’t have any special powers and he isn’t a clean cut good guy or bad guy. He’s a *real* character with real complexities and that makes him so much more interesting.

    Great video! It's strange how Snoke told Kylo that he had too much of his father's heart in him (after Kylo murdered Han Solo!). Snoke meant the humanity and compassion of Han Solo's heart, and not his cool and cynical side.

    • @ThePa1riot
      @ThePa1riot 7 років тому +8

      LightSide Sith That’s actually a great point. That when Snoke saw Han in Kylo, it wasn’t “oh good, a totally mercenary attitude toward allegiances,” but virtues like compassion.

  • @Draycoe
    @Draycoe 6 років тому +2

    This video encapsulates perfectly one of the main traits of a good hero.
    Their heart, not how amazing their skills are (though that can help) but how much they can survive and still help those they care for. It is very important that they have vulnerabilities and failings, like we all do, so we can appreciate how incredible it is that they achieve great outcomes.
    Luke, Lea and especially Han display many failings which makes their successes all the more enjoyable and moving.
    This can be the biggest flaw in recent movies, making characters that are amazingly skilled at many things with no believable reasoning.
    It actually makes them less of a hero, or not even a hero at all. Just a fantasy, without any connection to the audience.
    Sometimes less is more.

    Han was one of the few Balanced ones

    • @ThePa1riot
      @ThePa1riot 7 років тому +1

      Monokite Han’s a lot of things, but “balanced” ain’t one of them. If you mean “light and dark in one” that’s not really balance. We all have good and evil potential. What Han prides himself on is pragmatism and self-reliance, like the cowboy ideal he’s modeled after.
      Han is ultimately just a good man in a line of work where he runs with a lot of people more morally compromised than he is. So he has to do things that might seem dastardly but he views as necessary to live and survive.

    I wouldn't say Kylo uses han's humanity against him. JJ said that Han really did almost convince him to come with him but it wasn't enough. In the last Jedi it's obvious his legacy lives on in the conflict of his son due to his sacrifice

    Han shot first. It is my thinking that the Han Solo character solidly starting out as this space cowboy, mercenary-type who's only allegiance is to himself is a key element to make his later heroic turn towards the end of the movie all the more meaningful.

    badassery's finest and the inspiration to be rousing feathers with questions or viewpoints that skirt the norm because , "they won't like that" is a mere stifled cough from 30 rows back comparred to the messes he had to live through, learn from, advance because of, all while knowing, there will be no fake pleasantries, but i've lived through worse, and i might be put here to know that in just the same way to grow , come to peace with, and finally rest, from a fight that has a humble learning meaning somewhere after sometime when you realize the fight is assuming you need to, but realizing you don't.

    The more I think about it, I realize that Han has a lot in common with Anakin Skywalker. They both grew up as slaves to an alien (Wattle, Lady Proxima) on planets in the Outer Rim (Tattoine, Corellia), they both dreamt of being pilots and grow to be cocky fliers, they both have familiarity with gangsters particularily Hutts, they both demonstrated arrogance, compassion, hot headedness, and a tendancy towards luck to get out of stick situations. They also both struggled with maintaining a balance in the dark and light side, frequently dipping into the dark though ultimately Anakin chose to align himself with the Dark and Han with the Light. Oh and they both fell in love with royalty to two woman who happen to be related (Padme, Leia) and have children with them.

    Does Han Solo ever say that he was flying the Falcon when it made the Kessel run? Just realized watching your video that moment is a bit vague - I wonder if Disney is gonna establish that it was actually Lando who was piloting the Falcon during this famous Kessel run in the upcoming movie? hmmm

    very nicely done. As time as gone I've become more interested in the characters who didn't have the force or or some grand lineage.The soldiers, spies, thieves, pirates, smugglers, henchmen, gangsters they all have a part to some extent in the galaxy. Like examining a pocket watch and seeing the multitude of parts. Some large reaching throughout the watch and some small with less of a internal footprint but without those small parts the large ones wouldn't move or function properly. Those are the characters of the Star Wars saga.

    There's a lot of retconning that needs to happen in the new movie tomorrow to make Han's New Hope lines fit into the larger saga. He has to make the kessle run in less than 12 parsecs even though a parsec is a measure of distancr and he has to not believe in the force even though the Jedi were still a thing when he was a kid and even if he didn't remember the Clone Wars, he would certainly have known a lot of people who did.
    The way Last Jedi handled it's place in the saga worries me about that, but I'm hoping they do better with this one. Last Jedi had such good bones and ideas and then executed them do poorly. Hopefully this will be better.
