Thats the whole point of this sequel. Im not sure how the book progresses, so will just make a remark purely based on what happened in the movie. The movie throws in a potentially new love interest for LJ just to put her in the hot seat, because as far as life goes you cant expect relationships to be smooth sailing, unless couples are still in the midst of their honeymoon period. For a rather inexperienced girl like CJ, her reservations about her budding rlts with PK have always been the elephant in the room ( in terms of both her wariness of rlts and insecurity towards Gen-PK), which would definitely be heightened if there's a new variable in the equation. Its part of the rlts for one to navigate through the decoys and settle on what ultimately matters to the heart
Agree. Actually, I kinda thought the LJ-PK relationship was kinda toxic, because LJ was constantly doubtful, trying to break up, and to me, that shows they don't belong together. Besides, they have very different interests, and in real life, that usually causes tension between lovers.
However, I must admit that PK did help LJ grow, and viceversa, which is also very important.
So, JA was the good, safe choice, and PK was the risky-but-more-rewarding choice.

They were childhood crushes and they have a spark. a healthy spark instead of the toxic mess i read in the book. John was willing to dress up for her and do all those caring things for her but what about peter. its been an year but if remember correctly peter even messed up Lara's birthday. John didnt. John was there and John deserves so much better honestly. Like ffs his name is John Mclaren ambrose. I’m gonna be honest. It was so underwhelming. I am disappointed in this movie so I’m going to take this opportunity to rant.

Why on earth did lara jean get back with Peter? John suited her so much. He was basically her counterpart and she seemed very comfortable with him while with peter she was always a bit insecure. The chemistry was stronger with John as well. One minute Lara Jean looked like she was in love with John and then the next she tells peter she loves him. Like come on. If anyone has seen kdramas then u know this is classic second lead syndrome right here. Whilst I picked peter over josh in the first film, in this one I pick John undoubtedly. It’s obvious in the third film they’re still going to be together even if they break up a billion times so I’m just gonna hope that peters character improves enough to make me root for him. I digress.
Ann Mary Fr like I felt that Peter and LG relationship was a bit toxic and that the chemistry they had in the last movie wasn’t there it seemed more forced and with John it seemed more natural.
Eleez I wouldn’t necessarily say it was toxic. LJ addressed it herself, that the main problem was her insecurities about his past relationship. And obviously his too. THAT’s what MADE it toxic. But that’s what relationships are like in real life. Especially the beginning is hard cause you don’t know each other too well, and don’t know how to communicate and react.
Ann Mary I guess it’s what made it realistic though. A relationship is not only based on who you have chemistry with but timing and connection through history as well. Obviously Peter’s and LJs chemistry started to fade in the movie cause you only saw them fighting, but that was kind of realistic. Relationships are a lot of work, especially in the beginning where you’re being very insecure.
@@DreaLinh I agree. The movie has very nicely shown the issues in a new relationship. It is not a solution to move on if you are struggling, the issues need to be addressed. There is no guarantee that similar problems wouldn’t have happened if she had started dating John.

Okay 2 things wrong about the movie.
1: I wish we could’ve seen Peter’s perspective after the breakup.
2: I wish they didn’t leave John hanging at the end.
Im sure there’s more things wrong but otherwise... This movie was a masterpiece. I noticed how they put a lot of thought into the camera angles, script and directing. Peter and LJ’s relationship felt so realistic and sweet and it gradually came down hill. It didn’t just happen in a flash like some movies.
I believe everyone is ignoring the most important question of all.....

The ending was stupid. Peter and Laura are too different, they are both trying to fit into each other’s worlds but they don’t make sense.
