The octopus actually hugged the robot for helping it, that was nice to see.
I thought he was gonna try to eat it… but given the footage cut so soon, I’ll just assume it was a bro-hug.
@@mistahanansi2264 😂
Nice to imagine that but how can you believe that is the case? We know they have a certain level of intelligence, but is there any evidence of emotions? I doubt it.
robot? Thought it was real.. Wow. robot Looked scary tho
"here, have it back. sorry for having to steal your coconut bro. it was a life or death situation"
At 3:32 seconds the Octopus makes a very high pitched squeal and then makes it way over to hug the spy cam. I am in love.
Good observation I didn't even notice the squeal.
Oh, I didn't even realize it was a spycam lol. That explains the robotic movement, ha.
Do octopi make noises? Last time I looked it up multiple sources said that they didn’t, which is odd because octopi seem like the kind of animal that would hiss at you.
The way he peeks his eye out to see if the robot octopus is okay is so fascinating to me. It’s like he’s thinking “come on dude you’re gonna get killed out there”
Just the fact that it has a brain in its head as well as the appendages is just insane. Plus they can work together or separate is beyond amazing. Would not be surprised of what else this unique creature can do. May even be smarter than us.
They are definitely smarter than some people!
How cute is the robot octopus and the way it moves 😊
😅😅
The last scene, where the 🥥 🐙 comes out to greet and wrap tentacles with Spy 🐙 is really telling of their psychological capabilities.
The researchers may well have saved the life of that octopus with the robot experiment, but they learned an incalculable truth in return: 🐙 are sentient, and they understand altruism.
That is a *major* revelation. ✨
This is why I hate it that octopi are eaten as food by us. To me it’s like eating dog or horse.
@@billyb4790 I agree, and hold the same positions, too.
There were several realizations which I came to 35 years ago, which prompted me to move to a plant-based diet. My revelation came at the wingtips and beaktips of birds.
Revealed knowledge, such as what we witnessed in this documentary, reinforces the fact that I correctly interpreted evidence on which I based my decision back then.
The growing arsenal of evidence is harder and harder to ignore in terms of quantifying sentience, self-awareness, intelligence, problem-solving ability, tool usage, and communications abilities.
Aww, the genuine octopus gratefully hugged the helpful fake octopus! That warmed my heart. 🐙❤️🤗
How brilliantly this footage was captured from the ocean floor. Incredible job BBC. 😊😊
These intelligent beings sure pack alot of brains in a limited amount of life. Astonishing!
*a lot. "Alot" is not a word.
@@joshyoung1440 who tf cares?
For them its a long life.
@@joshyoung1440 you'll live mate
Octopus + David Tennant's voice = concentrated joy
“This is how he treats his friends.”
-Steals it’s only means of protection. 😂😂😂
It's incredible how we can find such intelligent species underwater. Our crew, for example, found evidence that sperm whales aren't just big - they're also brainy. We show how these marine giants learn to outsmart the whalers of the 1800s. It's fascinating to see their strategy!
intelligent?? how? it's not on top of the food chain, stop being ignorant and a brian smaller than an octopus!
Wow just WoW
We assume we are the clever ones, I beg to differ nine times. 😊
He’s like,” I have no idea if this is a real octopus, because something seems fishy (no pun intended!) but just in case,I’m gonna show my gratitude for them saving my life.” Lol.
Such intelligent creatures.
Must've felt like was hugging a mannequin.
Or we're just humanizing.
Probably wondering how and why the robot didn't get eaten by the sharks 🦈🐙
Octopus 1000 came with the assist
Imagine being so intelligent you can summon a robot to bring you exactly what you need when you need it. Smart Octopus!
The cameraman is filming the spy filming the octopus. 😊
This is someof the best octopus footage I have seen and it involves a fake one 😂. So freaking cool. Octopus and cephalopods in general could take up my entire day I love to study them.
🌿🌷🌹 The gratitudal gestures of octupus confirm that Love & Compassion are the highest forms of intelligence 🌹🌷🌿
I could watch octopus shows all day
Thank you BBC Earth!
Imagine what would have happened if Octopuses had a lifespan of 5 years. AND socialised.
Oooooh, the spy octopus was a robot... didn't catch that until after I had seen the confusing video.
What a wonderful video. 🐙 Nature is amazing. The robot spy is cute too.
BBC earth thanks for helping this little guy with coconut shell, this video is just amazing ❤👍
Awww I loved that hug 🥹🥹
That was really good 😊👌
Seeing as how octopuses have 9 brains (8 for the tentacles and 1 for the whole body), goes to show that octopuses really are the smartest animals.
It's a shame, humans with only 1 brain done what octopus with 9 brains could never do.
Great ! And heartwarming. And also so intelligent. Very
nice video , feelgood video , thanks !
It took me so long to discover the spy was a robot and not an actual octopus haha
me too 😄
That was super amazing….they are smart ❤beautiful creatures
I could die!! Awwwww!❤❤❤
Really the octopus is a deep thinking animal and it proves it by showing how it escapes from the predator shark by hiding inside the bamboo hole. Excellent video. Thanks.
You’re telling me the Doctor is the new bbc earth voiceover because that’s the best thing you could do!!! The Doctor should be in everything David is the best
I think, The Doctor is Best too..
P.S.
My Respect to Sir David Attenborough.
Thank you very much for bringing us beautiful views that we cannot see in person
Coolest robot animal cam. I've seen.
If had 9 brains, would I realy be able to study 9 different subjects at the same time
Incredible!
Nine brains?
I thought they only had three...oh wait it's three hearts...🥰
This also have 3 heart 😳😳😳
Only that species has 9 brains
David Tennant's voice is so soothing
Awesome~👍
Thank you for sharing this video~🤗
I am just fascinated by cephalopods. They are so smart yet are cousins with clams. Can’t wait to watch me some BBC, now.
Just WOW = I knew octo's were very smart & coodinated but they never cease to amaze...!
Put a toy animated elephant near him & that octopus could undoubtedly imitate it.
That would be amazing to have all that awareness in this environment. I see lobsters who are almost as intelligent tied up in tanks at the grocery store, and I could go crazy, it’s so maddening.
If that's "maddening" you should really watch some more documentaries because those lobsters would have just been eaten by some other aquatic species.
@@hhaste I’m aware of how nature works. It doesn’t mean I’m ok with torture.
Exactly, no respect for life. A quick death is the least we can do when we eat animals.
@@Amy-eb4gv being in a tank is not torture, and lobsters are nowhere near as intelligent as octopi. Seriously. Not even in the same ballpark. Did somebody actually give you that information or was that one of those times where you say something as fact even though you don't know it cause damn it, you really just _feeeeeeel_ that you need to score a point and be right on this one topic? Because... is that really worth it?
lobsters are not intelligent
It's Amazing 👍👍👍
Wow, amazing cleverness and gratitude!
Octopus is a real star of the first episode! Love it!
wish there was longer videos of this spy cam action. its very informative
The people who make these spies must have a good time at work.
Those are some really cute 🐙 octopuses… I want to be friends with one
Octopi.
@@nobodysbaby5048 Octopi in Latin. Octopuses in English. In the original Greek, octopodes.
@@realhorrorshow8547 Octopi is the plural of Octopus.
Love when people show how much they know lol… ppl that use octopi thinking it’s correct are same ppl who think the Earth is flat… bless them… I think it’s because they grew up without Reading 🌈 Rainbow.
@@nobodysbaby5048As ignorami is the plural of ignoramus.
The real octopus to the robot : "you ok, mate?? there's something in the way you walk"
The real octopus was like,’’thanks for letting me steal your coconut shell’’.😂😂😂
Octopus 🐙 = Alien
The voice over is David Tennant from Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Good Omens, Barty Crouch Jr in Vol. 3 "The Prisoner of Azkaban," and Hamlet.
Perfect fit
That was truly amazing, loved it ❤
The fact that this video has 1.2M VIEWS and only 5.7K LIKES, represents abundant evidence that this octopus is way more intelligent than millions of humans 🤩
They said that the sharks locate octopi by smell, and as the robot didn’t smell like one they weren’t interested in it
Eu entendi porque os tubarões ...se desviaram do polvo espião!! Mas foi uma pergunta pela inteligência que existe nos tubarões ...
I love anything about octopus 🐙 and jellyfish 🦑
the walking octopus is so cute
Brilliant 😊
This is so cuteeee. That little walk of spy octopus and the hug in the end☹💖
Incredible 😮
"You're a weird octopus but you're alright."
Sounds like David Tenant narrating. Is it?
Maybe he was thinking "aw hell he survived, listen man it wasnt personal i just really needed that lid"
Wow amazing
So beautiful of Marin Life Of Sea
3:40 its in a glass cage.. thought it was the genuine ocean floor
This was really interesting to watch & all it's cleverness 😊
Amazing creature
This is why i throw beer bottles into lakes. For fish hideouts.
Fascinating, but why did the sharks not eat the octopus out in the open?
It's rubber/plastic/silicone, wouldn't have been emitting the electrical waves or scent their food does.
Maybe not tasteful ? Or to big for a one bite snack ?
Amazing
I’m actually the dumbest human on the planet. I had no clue the red octopus was a camera thing. I genuinely thought it was a real octopus and they became little buddies. I literally have two bachelors degrees and I thought that little robot was a real octopus…. Damn yo
Hhahaha I only knew cause I have seen other shows where they spy on the animals.
Acho fascinantes!
Wait that octopus was a fake?
Nahhh dar b0y MAD smart
Fascinating.
Story telling is an art & lesson learned. Thankyou BBC earth. Ocean has its own set of stories
Sad these intelligent, curious, active senient beings are going to be factory farmed in Spain. What a life of misery for them.😢 If you love Octopuses, please don't eat them. 🐙
robot rly brought a hat for his friend
The footage is simply astounding!
Amazing video. The fake octopus is so funny. Looks like an overweight person with a big hat and wearing high heels for the first time!! lol
Why do we have to pretend like we don't know that the coconut was put on top of the robot octopus by the diver who's filming lol.
Many more thanks for u r effort
Spy Octopus walking kind of cute😅
🧬 The senses of all pieces of life evolve differently but the essence is same🧬
I really enjoy watching them 👉💝
OMG This made me Cry.. 😭😭
Nine 🧠?!
The octopus is intelligent that even BBC don't know that....
He was touching the robot or spy to see whether it is real or no
Incrível.
🐙🥳❣️
On se croirait dans une animation, les images sont fantastiques !!!
J’ai passé un agréable moment ❤
Tentaculaire.
thanks for showing this to us. 🙏
The spy is much amazing!
Fantastic video!
