Yes. This. Said to me in such a gentle way that I feel resolved instead of despair. Thank you

What a fantastic video. Thank you. I wish you and particularly your husband all the best as you navigate the next few years in America. I am gearing up for people in my own country who feel emboldened by the recent ‘win’ to start blatently harassing and othering anyone they want without consequence. But you give me hope with such a gentle and beautiful message. Be well.

Perfectly said. It's such an issue - such a system of issues - that so many people just refuse to accept.

Thank you for saying it. I have a set of the books from before i knew JKR was transphobic. I'm not sure what to do with them because i don't believe in destroying books, but hers is not a message i want to spread into the world. I used to justify keeping the books because the first three were gifted to me by my late great grandmother, and the last was gifted me by my late stepfather. But just because they remind me of family doesn't mean i should keep them. I'm trying to look at these books a though they were N*zi memorabilia i found in the attic of deceased family. What would i do with it? Not keep it, not sell it, not regift it to someone that wants it; maybe donate it to a WWII museum? But we don't have museums like that for Harry Potter books. So what should i do?

I don't like that you are right. And I hate that I had to stop spending my money on things I liked and wanted in my life. I hate thst so many people I used to be a fan of turned out to be such d*cks so they made the beautiful things I loved them for so sour. But I hate denying facts even more. And there are so many good artists we can safely support out there too.

Rowling saying that everything going towards Harry Potter is affirmation of her other beliefs is a lie, it’s a scam.
She knows that she’s lost support for this, this claim is just an attempt at soothing her ego and pushing her own legitimacy.
It’s actually more disheartening that people fell for it, that people are letting a transphobe dictate how they should feel.
If the books are good they’re good, their quality is not dependent on the author anymore.
If you’re rereading the Sam he books you’ve had for ten years and enjoying them, that is a positive, it hurts no one. Rowling doesn’t get any more power or influence from you reading a book you already own.
If anything purposely rejecting things that do not financially you benefit just because they’re associated with Rowling validates Rowling’s other claims about unjust persecution and galvanizes her supporters.
The best thing we can do is to be honest about how much these stories mean to us, continue to enjoy them while never giving Rowling another cent.

I think you may have had the wrong takeaway from this video. This video isn't really about harry potter.

Rejecting a story/world because it was created by a bigot does not validate any of Rowlings’ claims. If anything, if you can still read those books and not see all the bigotry included in them, then you are not being honest with yourself. A harmful bigot wrote those books, and you can see it in the stories.
