    Never made cherry melomel but it sounds awesome. The last batch I made was cinnamon flavoured so I suppose more of a metheglyn...It was bloody nice! tried some secondary fermented too, better than any champagne.
    Next a capsicumel I think....surprise for the guests with the spicy...

      Nice! I've not made a chilli one yet its definitely on my to do list though, the cherry is very good as is blackberry 👍

    Will this work with strawberries ?

    • @PreparedCamping
      @PreparedCamping  Рік тому

      Yes definitely you can use any fruit, I have made strawberry wine and it's quite sweet, so you may want to reduce the honey to aim for a drier lower alcohol finish
      But that's the great thing about homebrewing, it's the ability to experiment to get the product that suits your taste best
      Good luck and happy brewing!

    Why the ruff rack off the cherries after a week? Would it be fine to leave them through out primary?

    • @PreparedCamping
      @PreparedCamping  3 роки тому

      Possibly but a week is plenty to develop the must and I want it in a demijohn
      I start it in the bucket as its easier to clean out the used fruit pulp that way

    What was the ABV?

    • @PreparedCamping
      @PreparedCamping  2 роки тому +1

      Will depend on what yeast you use, with the wine yeast I get from Wilko this tops out at 16%
      If you use a more specialist strain you could get it as high as 19% maybe
      Thanks for watching hope you have a great weekend 👍
      All the best

      @@lordbacon3936 Lalvin EC1118 will go as high as 18% but you need to help it with 3 doses of Yeast Nutrient (i.e DAP) spaced out over one week. Good luck!

    Fruit flavoured alcohol is the pits! No wonder the Vikings died out :-)

      Despite the name the oldest reference to this drink is eighteenth century Denmark and the viking age was long gone by then and they had all converted to Christianity 😂
