Nice video....short and to the point. I wish the filter on my 2021 VX Cruiser HO was that easy to get off. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to get it off. May end up sticking a screwdriver through it.
Great video of the oil change procedure but at operating temp the filter is very hot and the engine manifold more so. Honestly, that oil out of the filter was very thick for being operating temp. But the procedure is good evn though Yamaha only recommends 90s with hose attached.
Just a thought, when you’re done extracting via pressure, could you remove the oil fill cap and continue to pump out oil? Like doing a cars oil change? Seems silly to be leaving an entire quart in the engine which seems to be what I see most of one UA-cam
I didnt....I had a black hull like yours with red 2009 FZR SHO Loved it....With a white 2019 Taco pulling it! Now I have a 2014 FX SHO Black hull bottom with white top Pulled by a 2021 black Taco, I traded my 2019 in because water would leak into interior from ac evap case. I think black is a classic color!
Like your video.... looking at getting a waverunner before summer..... My question to you is there a low oil pressure light similar to what you find in a car...?
Yes there is a low pressure indicator on dash, also if you have a low oil or low oil pressure condition the low oil pressure indicator will light along with check engine and warning indicators. A buzzer will sound intermittently for 30 seconds. Good luck with your purchase they are very hard to find due to manufacturing being shut down last year.
I usually use a battery tender over the winter when the season is over, skis do that when u don't start them for more than a week, nothing to worry. After the first start they start right up.
Howdy, thanks for the video! My 2018 1.8L HO seems to run for only 10-15 seconds and then shuts off. Yes, I have the water hose attached so it doesn't over heat. Any clue what is going on? I just bought it and want to change the oil but can't warm up the engine like you suggested, unless I do 10-15 seconds at a time but am sure that is not healthy for the engine. Thanks!
Did u ever run it in the water? does it still shut off ? 10-15 secs is not long enough to overheat the engine. I thing u might have something else there. Check the forums pwctoday and the greenhulk maybe u find some answers there if not let me know and we can get to the bottom of this.
@@kevinbucner2739 I bought it used from some guy, it's only got 62 hours so its still kinda new but no warranty. It was ridden on river to swap trailers only, so not sure what it is going on with it. Maybe the key fob has the security on?
So you’re ok with leaving 1 quart of dirty oil in there? 🙄. I get all 4 quarts out when I do mine.. Tilt the machine to the right by putting a brick under the left wheel, lower the tongue so the machine is tilted to the right snd lowered to the front so all the oil pools under the dipstick, once you extract all the oil like this, hold the throttle wide open snd hit the start button, the engine will turn over but not start, this will pump the remainder of the oil from the entire oil circuitry including emptying the finger into the crank case....... then you can suck out the remainder of the oil. Now you can add back all 4 quarts of fresh oil.
If you watch the video until the end u will see that I added 3.5 quarts of oil to the engine not 3. Also the oil was still under the full mark so prob 3.75 will be full. Now you can tilt the machine and get the rest of the .25 quarts out that's a good point , I will try that next time and see how much more u can pull out. As much as u try there will always be bit of oil left in the engine, not a big deal. If u feel comfortable cranking the engine with no oil in it go for it, I'm not. Thanks for the suggestions.
Literally the best video on youtube for oil changes. I'll definitely be using your video for the change on my 2021 vx cruiser ho.
Thanks!! I'm glad I could help.

Great help. Straight to the point, clear and calmly paced without any distracting music. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Great walkthrough. Used it to service my jet ski. You nailed all the key steps. Quick job.
Best Yamaha pec oil change video. The run through of all the materials needed is perfect.

You're very welcome!
Great video as well as the spark plug change video. Only suggestion would be to put links to the products used.
There are links , check description for links.
I have the exact ski and this video is perfect. Thanks
No problem 👍

If you warm up the engine and use the oil filter socket it should come out.
Super helpful, I got the same ski and I just ordered all the items I need. Thanks for the vid
Enjoy!
very nice video thank you for sharing, amazing how clean your waverunner looks
Still new for now, hopefully I won't hate the black color 2-3 years down the road.
Thank you your video really helped me
Good job Kevin B. with this video

This year I extracted all 4 quarts just by jacking up the trailer from the other side of where the oil dip stick is, Full 4 quarts. Try it.

Should have stayed with white... they hold their value more but it's only like 1k bucks more
Very good. Thanks

Excellent vid did you level your engine before like check
Yes I did
great video .
That motor seemed like it took a while to crank over
I didn't start it for about 2 weeks before that.
Weak battery my friend. Weak battery
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Where did you get that water hose extensions with the cutoff valve?
Home depot
You need to change oil after every 10 hours?
That was a new watercraft, when new first oil change is 10h after that every 50h or every season whichever comes first.
@@kevinbucner2739 oh okay. Thanks for answering 👍🏽 Same goes for the oil filter I suppose.
Always put on a new filter when you change the oil.

@@hollywoodvince so did u run it in the water or only on the hose?
What size oil filter wrench 73 or 74mm?
73mm
If you use it in salt water I recommend using some Saltaway on the entire outside and flush the motor with it for a minute..
No salt water around here , I'm in the midwest.
Saltaway a good idea... I use it as well on mine here in Charleston. I don't on the outside, but I do completely wipe mine down after each use.

Never start an engine with no oil that is a big no
