- VIRTUS is the new integrated body armour system that's already in use in the British Army and constantly being trialled to improve it even further, listening to feedback from our troops.
It's lighter and more comfortable to wear than previous systems and comes with a 96% positivity rating from our troops.

I love the look of the new gun design
Rifle*
Yes, it is a "gun", but that's like referring to people as "mammals". it's pretty animalistic and rude.
A mortar (fires almost vertically), a howitzer (fires slightly angled in an Arch motion) and a gun (fires with the barrel aligned with the target) are Artillery.
I'm well aware that a Rifle is a gun, but as I said, it's very unspecific
fucking hell mate its a inanimate object, gun rifle shooty stick bag rod. it doesn't give a fuck what you call it
we're not Yanks, we don't use the term "Assault Rifles" mate
Rebel Rhymes no it's literally an L85A2 painted Brown with a worst rail system as there is no quick access to the gas parts as there ain't a top cover.
The Sight is the LDS (Lightweight Day Sight) that has been issued for a couple of years now.
By the way, how is the new quad rail unit tactical?

Just give soldiers compact Dorchester armour from the challenger 2. Got yourself an army of supermarines haha
Supermarine Spitfire?
LOL
it's kept that classic industrial look to it which is nice ;)
I would like the MOD to experiment with a bolt system that allows bullet casings to be ejected from both sides...has the cocking handle on a easily removable but firm locking system so you can literally unlock it and relocate it on the other side of the weapon and lock it there to allow you to fire it off the left shoulder.Thats the simplest it can be done and if that's too complicated then a whole new weapons system will have to be looked at after the A3.
Having been a infantryman and a left handed one at that I can tell you now I never found it a problem shooting left handed and scored in the top 10% on my APWT when we did it I've also done many operational tours and never felt the need to be able to shoot it left handed
+MrTangolizard not shooting left handed but being left handed I obviously had to shoot right handed but found it no problem
When you take them apart you see that the rotating bolt design cannot be reversed as the locking splines wouldn't engage. So no left handed version...
The Scar 17 and Barret Rec7 already has this I believe.
James le commando i totally agree making the weapon lighter would also help its much too heavy compared to any other serious armies service weapon. Anyone who has ever fired the weapon from standing unsupported knows what im talking about. However ive heard rumors will be largely unchanged from the a2 not a shock rarley being this weapon came out in the 80's. Its like wearing the same pair of shoes for 37 years and changing the soles and laces everytime they break, yes you could do that but you would look like a twat and proberbly save money by just buying new pair
Don't understand why we don't give all regiments the C8
the L119A1 (the Diemaco AR-15 Carbine C8) is already used by the SAS and Royal Marines Nuclear submarine guards.
It's a showing of too much despiration to adopt the original Yank rifle.
I think we should say "go fuck yourself" to the Yanks who ruined the calibre crisis and copied the British .280 round because they didn't want to admit our round was superior.
watch the video called "FAL" by "Ahoy".
very interesting
+Desantos123 UK yea we should give them a big fuck you, didnt just fuck up the universal calibre either, they said fuck you when they turned down the idea of a universal weapon for nato the FAL and decided to go and build the m14
***** NATO using a universal system is extremely smart, munition sharing between allies is extremely easy because they all use the same rounds, if ally countries all used different callibres then it would be harder to share around munitions and probably a lot more expensive, and why the fuck you decided to brin the EU army into this is beyond me, but if you are curious no i dont give a fuck about the EU army.
The intermediate .280 caliber (6.8mm) is the real deal they should have gone with from the start instead of the wound only varmint round.
should have fully adopted the EM-2 back in 1951
i now i have no experience or knowlage on these things but the new gear looks cool hoping it works just as well as it looks
Interesting. I wonder how long they plan to keep the A3 in service.
Matthew Coates Not anymore it seems. "Part of a feasibility study for the SA80A2 Mid Life Improvement project, which aims to prolong the in-service life of the UK Forces’ 5.56mm weapon beyond its 2025 OSD, the A3 prototype includes a number of modifications including......"

Upto 2030, and before people slate it i would like to say that the a2 is more reliable than the colt armourlight rifle (us service) and is also more accurate, (400m vs 300m). The A1 was a pile of steaming shit but the A2 is really good, if the army felt the need for a new fifle they would have used the money they just spent on new AFV's on it.
Until after all politicians have new cars.
Honestly as if boys will get this. This will be in service next year and most infantry battallions won't get them for at least an other 3 years
an maybe 2030 for a remf like me XD
They will give it to all regiments they wont just service it to certian regiments cuz then there is no point in servicing it
If they really wanted to protect their soldiers they'd be wearing dragon skin.
Kit Gibson it dosen't work especially in hot weather
Dragon skin stops pistol rounds and rifle rounds but it doesn;t absorb the force. If a 7.62 hit it is would break all your ribs and puncture your lungs. Osprey armour will give you a sore chest for a few weeks.
That's why you wear a trauma pad underneath silly. :)
dragon skin is dogshit
@@fz4423 Think I would rather have a sore chest than no chest.
I’m also suspicious when comes to bullet vests when the words are used such as confront and lightening. Can see the side plates are no longer there so will be screwed in the chest if shot in the side or shrapnel from the side.
Do they have to wear the virtus webbing or can they wear own stuff
Not gonna lie, if you released a civi version in the states, I'd want one...
For purely...academic reasons, of course lol
That's a fair point, but the space saved in that configuration is still a relief when you're used to 20-inch barrels with fixed stocks ;)
If my skinny ass can handle one of these things, I think most American adults can too.
Kel-tec have a half-decent bullpup in .308!
Watch Ryder But it's not an SA80 so point invalid :p
Yes I know that but it *SHOULD* be the SA80 which is my angle SNCO of explosions.
I was hoping for more lol
What is the use of lower round shaped barrel in the thumbnail in the frontal part.
Underslung grenade launcher
2 para lads, could of put one who had wings up nearest the camera
As a Firearm it was to heavy and rattled to much. An m4 with a full mag is lighter than an empty A2. I used the A1-A2 and they also rusted in jungle condition at the drop of a hat. It needs replacing, Colt Canada had the best solutions.
The world has moved on from direct gas impingement which is why there was so many complaints from u.s forces about the reliability of the m4 in sandy conditions it's by far not a bad weapon but it offers mother more in terms of effectiveness over the sa80a2/3
You mean Diemaco Canada.
it's the AR-15 by the way.
the "M" is the letter the Americans use for most equipment designations.
it's like with the Beretta 92fs handgun they use is designated the "M9"
the HK416 used by Navy Seals to kill Bin Laden, "M416"
In Canada, they use the "C" designation.
their AR-15 is the C7, and the Carbine Variant is the C8.
British use the "L".
like the "L85" is the Military designation, but the SA80 is the actual name.
it's like the L115A3 Marksman Rifle, real name Accuracy International Arctic Warfare (AIAW)
The SAS use the AR-15 Carbine.
it's designated the L119A1.
look it up.
The M4 was used as an example. I'd been given a SFW Or C8 carbine in the second half of my detachment in Sierra Leone due to the A1's rusting in jungle condition. Diemaco is a colt Canada company. But thanks for the cadet brief.
hahaha, no, I'm just a nerd about this shit ;)
Or DS Arms for a new FN FAL. I doubt they could meet the order for an entire army though. They are equipping the S. Americans with new FALs.
But why the need for an SA80A3 ????????? Some one on UA-cam this week with a fake name told me the SA80A2 is the best rifle ever ! LOL.
its the same piece just painted brown with a new handguard...a2 isnt bad there just way better out there but the gov is tighter than a nuns cuff an wont spend owt.
+JamesMacPlays it's not the same the upper receiver is improved to increase reliability and the hand guard is attached different to allow full free floating of the barrel increasing accuracy safety stud near the change lever to stop over rotation and to the original poster the a2 was and is a good rifle but the rifles have had a lot of rounds through them so need a overhaul
They don't have a clue about the different weapons platforms that are out there.
Richard Maunder The A2 / A3 is one of the best weapon system out there, and I know from experience, I have only had one jam or malfunction is he time I have used it, and it was actually my own fault, and I have never had a issue with the weight.
Lol best weapon system out there rubbish almost every other service weapon out there is better in fact name serious army with a worse weapon system hmmmm.
Why mention the sa80a3 in the title when it's not in the video....pure click bait
Jack the lad it's the thing in his hands
was H&K in charge of the A3 as well?
I don't know exactly, but the new handguard looks like the H&K slim line.
Tuhoeterra are they still under British control like when they worked on the A2
Music?
If their making an A3 it's obviously doing something right plus it will make the rifle lighter from what I hear.
nah its just in real need for improvements
Is there groin protection ?
Mr ward good point
Mr ward blast boxers
Yes and blast trousers to keep your knee joint intact if you lose a leg
The new rifle doesn't have any way of taking the gas block out so it'll be kinda hard to clean
Yes it does
James le commando i totally agree making the weapon lighter would also help its much too heavy compared to any other serious armies service weapon. Even though we chined most of it off
That Lt General is mispronouncing his French surname.
It's only really cosmetic let's be honest not really A3
Probably
No it's not the a3 upper receiver has been redesigned for better reliability there is a safety stud near the change leaver to stop over rotation the new hand guard is designed to fully allow free floating of the barrel increasing accuracy and obviously the colour change to match the cloths is cosmetic new sight is also lighter
***** Do you know if new receivers are being manufactured (and if so by who?) or if the old ones are being modified?
+pbrezmire07 the only thing I know is that h&k have had a order for 5000 units through there UK branch NSAF LTD combat & survival have said it is replacing the upper receiver to increase reliability and to make maintenance easier the hand guard is to help with the free floating of the barrel as its attached different
+pbrezmire07 they are new receivers as its a order notice I found at ted.europa.eu
sa80 a3 has come a long way..
I'd rather see more of the gear being used than that guy's face for half the vid :/
Better off replacing the SA80 with something new, it's too heavy.
No it's not
Why do u think they have upgraded it to make it lighter
If some what malnourished troops of ww2 could carry the likes of a Bren gun or BAR I wouldn't think the sa80 is much of a struggle for the modern solider.
Being x infantryman I can tell u if you think it's too heavy then u need to work out , besides it great being heavy as it evens out all the crap you have to carry on your back lol
***** Fighting isn't a competition to who's the fittest, any advantage you can get is a plus, even the fittest bloke alive would perform better with a lighter weapon.
Lt General Paul Jacques you need to loose to weight lad - setting a bad example for the rest of the lads and lass' and mocking the British uniform.
They are all political bean-counters nowadays. The last fighting general was Jackson in the 1990s.
expensive looking suits
Understand it's not that good
