Thank you so much Agave Bob I loved making it and your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated thank you for taking time to comment and watch my content. Cheers 👍👊🙏
Great work! Great design, craftsmanship, patina, use of rebar, subtle profile on the legs. I could go on and on. I've been doing industrial designed coffee tables, plant tables and entertainment centers for about 15 years. I've taken different elements from the work of others and incorporated them into my own work. Mostly because I look at their work and think, I like this or that but not the entire piece. This is the first time I would not change anything! Everything is perfect! PS, your right about Jody, his videos are a must watch for any hobbyist welder! Thanks for sharing, Gus!
Bob your comments are awesome and I’m truly thankful to you taking the time to give me such great feedback and kind words. I loved the process of the build and making it was quite challenging. If you fancy making one then there are plans in the description links. Thanks my man 👍👌
My dude. You just drove the nail in the coffin. For years, I've been trying to find a reason for me to expand my interests into metal working. This video just cinched it. Keep cranking out that kind of awesome stuff.
Cheers Paul I’m chuffed it’s tipped you over the edge to come join the dark side 😎 as I’m a DIY kind of guy my content will be a mix of metal, wood working, and car stuff hopefully and I have a free projects in the pipeline! Cheers for commenting and viewing and obviously go get busy in your workshop!!!! 👍
When i looked up videos for a workshop stool, this is not what i expected. It did however, greatly exceed my expectations. It taught me a few things (I never knew you could use a jig saw for sheet metal) and also inspired me to aim a little higher. Thanks for making such good quality content.
Wow thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to write a comment and watch my video. It’s greatly appreciated as it fuels my passion to share more of what I build online. Good luck with your own stool project and I’m sure it will be awesome. Thanks again and hope to hear from you again 🙏🏻🙏🏻
This the 6th time watching your video over the past months. I keep coming back looking at the design. Nice job all the way around. I will be making 2 for my shop. I hope to put my own twist on your design. Thanks for the inspiration.
Kirk, man that’s such awesome news, your comment inspires me to do more videos as this is why I started doing it in the first place to share my knowledge and techniques. Thanks for taking the time to comment and support the content and hopefully the free download of the plans help you lay things out and plan your own twist. Thanks again 👍👍👍👍
I so glad it has given you some ideas Robert and wish you the very best of luck with your own version of a workshop stool, I absolutely love mine. Cheers bud 👍

Very nice! I've been wanting to do up a custom stool for here in the blacksmith shop, but always seem to put that on the back burner. Sculpting the legs like you did was a stroke of genius and really takes me back to the Golden Age of Machinery when even our industrial tooling had fine legs and graceful curves that rivaled the best that top furniture designers might try for! You're right about the Tig, too. I've been a stick welder all my days, and not a very good one at that. I marvel at what you guys can do with a Tig, from the tiniest tacks just to pin something in place, to full beads so pretty they actually compliment the overall aesthetic. Makes me wish I could Tig, but I just can't seem to grasp the matter. Still, you've given me some good ideas and I'm thankful for that. What blades do you like in your saber saw for cutting that thick of steel? I've never tried that, but seeing how clean a job you did has got me thinking I need to remedy my oversight.
Three River Forge , my heart felt thanks for your message one of the nicest things I’ve ever read from someone who has viewed my content Thank you so much it’s what inspires me to continuing making content. this is epic definately going on the growing list of projects to do wanted to print out leg to scale couldn't do it, oh well fire up the 3d printer and make a 1:1 template for the leg
Brilliant dude thanks so much, there are downloadable files in the description if you want to get the sizes etc? Hope the long list becomes shorter and you get after some of the projects, good luck and thanks for commenting and watching it’s very much appreciated 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Do you have a sketch or drawing of your leg pattern with measurements? Willing to share? I would like to make one myself. That stool has all the right curves. Nice job on it.
Hi John it’s not something I’ve thought about so thanks for the question. I still have the template but without making another video I’m not sure how to share it. Would rough sizes be ok?
If you take a picture of it straight on (if you take it at an angle it will get all skewed), with a measuring tape next to it (let me know what measuring system you use), then I can convert it to CAD and send it back your way if you would like.
Hello gentleman, sorry to butt in, but i would also be interested in possible hopping on this wagon to receive that information. would love to give this a shot.
Love your design and finishes.....curious as to what you used to darken or patina the outside edge of the legs.....I looked up metal antiquing fluid but could only find it for silver brass and copper....is there a specific type for steel.? Thanks
Hi Mike did you check out the link in the description section as it should have taken you to the right one? But yes there is one for steel. Hope that helps but if not please come back to me? Thanks for the comments 👍
Hola amigo. Te felicito por este arte metálico. Es un buena creación Metálica. Mi pregunta ¿que espesor y altura tiene la estructura Metálica?. Saludos y un fuerte abrazo ala distancia. Desde Lima - Perú.
Hi Carlos from Peru that’s super cool you messaged me and thanks for watching. If you check out the description section of the video it has full details of all materials I used plus it has a link to plans which you can download and make one. It also has the sizes and dimensions of the stool. Hope that helps and good luck 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Eri Si thanks for watching and commenting. I believe 4 legs are more stable than 3 by the virtue of adding another contact point, however it is very dependent on what you plan on doing with the stool? Have I knocked over the stool when sliding it back, yes on occasion but when I’m sat on it I feel that it is rock solid. From an aesthetics perspective I think 3 legs are far more appealing than 4 and again geometrically you can get some lovely shapes with 3 rather than 4. Hope that helps and good luck with your project 👍👍
+JJ ggirt thanks for viewing my content it’s much appreciated especially taking time to ask questions. Yes it’s a regular jigsaw it’s a Makita 4340OFCT (110v) with HSS blades. I used two different kinds a 1.2-2mm blade for the sheet metal and a 2.5-6mm blade for the 3mm bar and when I tacked up the 3 leg parts. Hope that helps cheers Gus
Thank you Mark and yes I think everyone should be welding but yet again I’m bias!! 🤪😂😂😂😂 thank you so much for taking time out to watch my content 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Absolutely awesome chair, looks and practical. I noticed the chop saw you were using (evolution rage 3). are you still using the stock saw blade or have you switched it out for a different brand?,,,, I have the same saw and the blades do not last long for me at all, I am going to try a dewalt blade next.
curtis siwak thanks for the comments and feedback, yes I stick with the Rage blade as I’ve tried a Erbuer one but it was useless. The problem is the shank or disc bore is 25.4mm and standard size is 30mm so I can’t get alternative options in my local area. If you do get a Dewalt and it decent if you could let me know as I agree the saw blade is £20 and doesn’t last very long. What I have found though is if you let the arm weight cut your material ie don’t push down and leave a “light touch” and let the blade cut seems to make the blade last longer. Good luck
Just out of interest, and reading back throughnthe posts, if anyone else is interested, the way I done it was to download the tiny url doc, the printed onto two sheets of A4, superimposin one half over the other, tape them together, trace the shape using graphite tracing paper onto a large piece of thick white card, (or two pieces of A4 card) and et voila, there is your pattern, use fabricators soapstone to draw around your card template and cut out from your chosen steel, hope this helps.
That's a great job on the stool . Looks very man cave. Also great job on the video and audio. Thanks for that. Curious as to how many hours for that project?
Cheers Dave and thanks for commenting glad you liked the video. It’s a really good question as I’ve not kept a log of hours for any of the projects, might need to think of doing that in the future! As I’m not commercialising these for sale I don’t mind if things drift a little but I guess if I had to put a number on it then the frame of the stool would be in the region of 50-60hrs and the stool seat top with the stitching took 20-25hrs I would guess. If you add in coffee breaks and filming and editing then I’m sure my wife would tell you “way to bloody long” 😂🙈👌
Only a few YT channels show you how to make a stool, everyone else makes them out of wood, but you sir, make one of the BEST videos out there !!!

Ok John I’ll get a photo and over mark with all sizes I can, I’ll try and upload it in here if not I’ll try another route. Cheers
awesome, thank you
Hello gentleman, sorry to butt in, but i would also be interested in possible hopping on this wagon to receive that information. would love to give this a shot.
Thanks for the comments 👍
welden very nice 👌👌👌👌
Thank you Zakir really appreciate the 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
What gauge sheet metal was that you used for the legs?
Hi Hip Airbrush if you check out the description in the video all the materials are listed including the sheet metal materials. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice lines on this stool, I would have gone with a satin or matte top coat
Thanks for watching appreciate the comments 👍🏻
Looks awesome.
James Novaes thanks for the feedback, much appreciated
Great it's really amazing
Thanks for the comment and support vardhan 👍

I'm researching to make my own stool for the first time; are 3 legs and by that, 3 points of contact more stable than 4? Thanks.
@@ManCaveMakings I suppose the main thing for me is to avoid an annoying wobble. Maybe I'll make two and see which I prefer :-)
Sounds like a plan, I get zero wobble from mine 👌👍
Great idea. Is that a regular jigsaw you are using to cut? What kind of blade do you recommend?
+JJ ggirt thanks for viewing my content it’s much appreciated especially taking time to ask questions. Yes it’s a regular jigsaw it’s a Makita 4340OFCT (110v) with HSS blades. I used two different kinds a 1.2-2mm blade for the sheet metal and a 2.5-6mm blade for the 3mm bar and when I tacked up the 3 leg parts. Hope that helps cheers Gus
Amazing...I need to learn how to weld!
Thank you Mark and yes I think everyone should be welding but yet again I’m bias!! 🤪😂😂😂😂 thank you so much for taking time out to watch my content 🤜🏻🤛🏻
How thick is that material
Hi John, check the description section for all the material details etc but the sheet metal is 1.6mm thick 👍
Hi , nice work ,bravo
Thanks for the kind words BQ creations.

It’s a bit of a fiddle but at least there is a way of getting it done so thank you so much for sharing your experience with everyone Sean. Cheers 🍻😎👍
If you add in coffee breaks and filming and editing then I’m sure my wife would tell you “way to bloody long” 😂🙈👌
Badass...
Cheers Slick G 👍
Awesome job. Is that a standard metric screw thread or an acme type?
Thanks for the question Silveravnt, it’s metric thread M30. 👍
