what i like to use is a lead gengar with destiny bond. With focus sash it gets at least 2 turns to ko an opponent. When the sash is broken and the opponent sends the second pokemon do destiny bond. The trainers usually go for a killing move if they can so you can ko the first pokemon with gengar's raw power and then ko the second one as they kill you, turning the battle into a 2 v 1 in your favor.
Been having a pretty good time with the following team: Cloyster @ Focus Sash (Skill Link, Jolly, 252 Spd, 252 Atk, 4HP) -Shell Smash -Icicle Spear -Rock Blast -Ice Shard (Always go for Smash turn one, and proceed to sweep for as long as you can. With certain enemies, you truly won't even need any other teammates) Blissey @ Leftovers (Natural Cure, Bold, 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Spd) -Seismic Toss -Thunder Wave -Softboiled -Heal Bell (Blissey is my go-to sponge. Bold max defense means it can even come in on physical hits, survive, Thunder Wave, Softboiled as needed until you get a full para, and proceed to Seismic Toss the opponent into oblivion) Garchomp @ Lum Berry (Sand Veil, Jolly, 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 SpDef) -Swords Dance -Outrage -Earthquake -Crunch (Chomp comes in, Sword Dances, outspeeds plenty of relevant mons, and hits back hard with EQ and Outrage. Lum cures burns and confusion from Outrage, but if you - like most of the people I've fallen in love with - are afraid of commitment, you can slash Outrage for Dragon Claw so you're not locked in, slash Lum for Yache to minimize one pivotal Ice hit, and slash Crunch with Stone Edge if you really have a vendetta against Flying types. Currently running Sand Veil because I've yet to buy an Ability Patch for Rough Skin, but I've run into a lot of lead Tyranitars that set up sand, so you might as well benefit from it and Swords Dance in its face while it misses due to the evasion boost.)

Dude, you're a legend. That feraligator looks seriously op. I have a really good team for the basic tower challenge that's doing really well, but struggling with the master. Definitely training some of these for that one :)
FOLKS - Finally managed to conquer the battle tower. Beat the regular Battle Tower, worked my way up the Ranks in Master Battles, and just now managed to beat Cynthia (the champion), then move on to beat the Tower Tycoon Palmer (Master Battle Version). Holy fuck - what a journey - and what an excellent introduction into the world of competitive Pokemon. Thanks Cokes for all the videos (along with a few others including PhillyBeatzU). Here is the team I used to pull it off: Gengar (Mild) w Focus Sash -Nasty Plot -Dazzling Gleam -Shadow Ball -Sludge Bomb Azumarill (Adamant) w Sitrus Berry -Play Rough -Waterfall -Aqua Jet -Belly Drum Dragonite (Jolly) w Lum Berry -Dragon Dance -Outrage -Extreme Speed -Earthquake Hope this helps all,
Using quagsire is very cheesy but I like the idea. I'll try it. I love the strategy of the second team but it will get walled by unaware quagsire lol that pokemon is one of the biggest problems in the tower. My best team is: 1. Choice scarf Rotom heat with trick, volt switch, thunderbolt and overheat. I use it mainly to scout and shut down stalling and cheesy pokemon using double team of minimize if I give them the choice scarf. I can also use it to break sashes using volt switch 2. Choice band Azumarill: Waterfall, aqua jet, play rough and superpower. I use it in combination with another dragon to counter dragons locked in outrage and to deal damage. It will 1h-ko or 2h-ko everything that does't have electric poison or grass moves. And even they do he's bulky enough to tank one hit and land 2 choice band aqua jets so that another member can come to revenge kill. 3. Choice scarf Latios: Dragon pulse, surf, psychic and the fourth move doesn't really matter. One of the fastest pokemon in the tower outsped only by raikou and speed tied with other latios. I used to have draco meteor with soul dew/life orb but decided to change for dragon pulse because the 10% chance to miss with draco meteor is fatal in the tower. Very strong special attacker can 2h-ko anything that's not a dragon. I can sacrifice it if another dragon kills it with outrage and revenge kill easily with Azumarill since they can't damage it with outrage. This team can beat any team that doesn't have two of latios and it still required a bit of luck because if play rough or overheat miss it can be game over. These three pokemon synergize incredibly well and can cover almost all of their weaknesses. I really like having rotom heat with trick to stop unaware quagsire and cresselia from stalling me because these two pokemon are a big problem in the tower.
That exact Azumarill/Gengar plus Garchomp got me through the first 49, but I keep getting spanked with that same team in the masters. I will try some of these strats and see if it helps. Great content, subbed!
My main team has been Togekiss to start with Lum Berry, Cloyster focus sash, and Garchomp life orb. It's been really solid but it's like I've hit a wall at Master Class rank 6. I keep getting demoted to 5 then make it back to 6 lol Also, it ALWAYS seems that the killer for me is Suicune. That's the hardest mon to face in my opinion 😣
These battle tower videos are pretty cool. I run Scizor, Blaziken, and Empoleon. But thinking about adding some different mons to the team like that Feraligatr.
Why do i see so many people pick poison jab over iron head for garchomp? Is the poison chance really that much better than both ice and fairy coverage?
It's a good video but the thing is, it has too many hard to obtain pokemon. I feel like the way to go about building a team should be to show something easy enough to build without trade evolutions, hidden abilities or version exclusives.
REALLY loving these videos and sets, man! Probably gonna try and put together a Feraligatr set, since he's always been one of my favorite Pokemon. Though I'm quite a ways away from getting an Ability Patch... What are some good alternatives for Gengar? As much as I wanna use it, it might be a fair while before I can meet up with a friend to trade my Haunter. And I'm kinda the same way as you regarding Legendaries lol
I tried using blaziken, feraligatr and latias, with or without the baton pass strategy and just haven't got much luck. There are just too many different scenarios to deal with. For eg, if you're leading with blaziken and you are up against raikou, raikou hits you with shadow ball instead of scald, reversal isn't enough to ohko with blaziken. You cant switch to feraligatr or latios either. Focus sash combo also doesn't work against a mon with priority move like mamoswine etc and it's also tough to switch into. Lastly, when they use yawn, should we immediately switch???
better if you use the serebii link so you can check your matchups. I recommend to always go for the play that gives you advantage. In that Raikou scenario, that Pokemon specifically may not have Scald (i'm not 100% sure) but if that's the case, you could switch into the Dragonite since Raikou's attacks won't do much against the Dragonite. Setup Dragon Dance and you could potentially sweep the enemy team. It takes some time and experience but you'll get the hang of it and get the 20, 30, 40+ streaks. If the enemy uses Yawn, again... it depends on your opponent's team. Always check serebii because you could sacrifice the Pokemon so you could safely send out your other Pokemon without having to risk the Yawn. Hence why I use Lum berry on Dragonite! You'll get the hang of it my guy. You got this.
Sorry! My bad on that part. You toxic before you use Yawn! That was a misplay on my part since I had already thought the Pokemon was poisoned. Thank you for pointing this out, Fmurad!
Sorry that was a miss-play on my part in the video. Apologies my guy! You use Yawn to pivot an opponent (put it to sleep and switch) and Toxic when you want to stall the Pokemon. Sorry I wasn't able to fully explain that on video.
I’d love to join the discord but the link has expired unfortunately. Hopefully I’ll see you there but anyways thank you for the guides, very straightforward and useful. 😄
Hey really cool teams. What I fail to understand tho is why you go for max attack ev on blaziken. It doesn't benefit from it at all right? Wouldn't some defensive EV's be better? Or do you not want that because of focus sash?
putting defensive stats will negate the idea of having focus sash. better to have atk EVs since you might need it in clutch situations. But it depends on your playstyle and preference. I usually prefer this set since I've had some success with it.
Hey you make awesome content for me. Glad I found you and Im sure you will continue to blow up. Ive also been shiny hunting for competitive pokemon for battle tower.
