  • In this video, I document the meteoric rise of Marauda - from Soundcloud prodigy to global Bass phenomenon in little over half a decade. I dive deep into the music, branding and more that have got him to this point. And beyond that, what the future might hold for him.

100% I remember finding his stuff here when it was still Mastadon and the style and sound at the time was unmatched. And while many have tried to make what he makes now, his sound still stands alone in quality and presence. Caught him in Portland in 2019 right before the pandemic and man was that a night to remember.

I'd really like to see a video on the evolution of Dubstep. From it's very beginning to its current state, subgenres, trends, insights into labels and important releases and then rounding it of with somewhat of a top list of your absolute favourite producers and songs. Would be incredible.

  • @jimmiemarshall263

    A few notes on Marauda:
-Elephant Man had, for my money, the only good remix of LAXX'S Step Two at the time
-Because he was so young when he was starting out and his tracks were doing so much damage so quick, he wasn't allowed in any legal capacity into nightclubs here and actually had Aussie tearout peer Nexu5 play sets under his name wearing a mask
-A memorable track from the start of his first overseas show with Subfiltronik, Subminus, would remain unreleased until Malignant Vol 1. Cute
-Hamish can never be heard on the mic at shows, letting the music do the talking as you said

Went to my first festival few months ago. Marauda was last on the line-up and i didn't know a single thing about him, i was mainly waiting for other producers, but some people i met there told me to just wait and see. And oh my god i couldn't even begin to describe his set. After a whole day under a heavy sun, being so tired - and so happy - , thinking the day could not go any better he got on stage, i saw him right before, he was so shy and young i thought "no way it's him i must have got it wrong" and oh my god once he's on stage he's a BEAST. I thought the world would crumble under my feet i'm not even kidding, it's a feeling i will never forget, you just feel the pressure, the insaaaaaaane heavy as fuck and long and everythingyouwant build up, and the drop holy fucking shit, one hour of set felt like an entire day, you think you can finaly catch a breath and he drop it even harder the next second. If you ever, EVER have the occasion of going to one of his set, go, do not hesitate it's a one-of-a-kind experience. Thank you marauda for such an amazing day, keep having fun making music.

First up: Marauda has always kinda fascinated me. Despite usually really not caring for extremely heavy bass music like tearout I find myself coming back to Marauda for the same reason I listen to Svdden Death - The demonic, horrific theme (Which justifies the heaviness in my mind if that makes any sense)

Saw Marauda last night in Buffalo at a 1000+ cap venue and it's nuts to me that he's headlining these kind of venues and damn near selling them out. When I first heard his style I never thought it would have that level of appeal due to how brutal and heavy it is. But i'm stoked on the success he's been having definitely well deserved! Also he's one of the only artists in EDM that i've seen keep a mosh pit going for a whole set. I normally only see that at metal shows

It's funny because I grew up with dubstep during the 2012-2015 era, and I can recall having a heated exchange with Elephant Man, he made a track with only stolen sample packs from D jahsta, the track was horrible but quite catchy at the same time, I called him out and he responded. He would also insult Chrispy music in his early days on darkstep warrior.
At some point he a track with a guy calle trill pix or something like that and it was very good, classic dubstep gutter type of dubstep. This is what I believe to be the great beginning of his journey. Now fast forward 7 years later I attended one of his show, there hundreds of ppl coming just for him..
It's crazy to think that this young arrogant shitty producer like many others at that time actually became one of the best musician of the bass music, he has my full respect

You man are doing excellent with these types of informative EDM videos. I've been doing stuff like this on my channel. Would like to collaborate with you one day raver. Keep listening, stay safe and rave on bass head.

Marauda is such a huge influencer for so many producers, me included, and heavy dubstep was changed for better or for worse in large part because of him. Can't get over that. :)

i saw him live here in sydney in the ivy thats a small club about a year ago, the energy of his music is un matched even though it was a small crowd of probably 300 people max. the first drop at the start of his set was mental it was the 5th drop from heave and the followed by the 2nd drop from wall of death. was nuts wish i could go back, being in a small club with a small crowd made it even better

Hands down: Marauda, Effin and PEEKABOO are the very best „newcomers“ out there.
    EDIT: plus Leotrix and Nitepunk

I talked to him before he really blew up (This was about the time Warlords and the Turbo EP came out) and he seems like a really nice, down to earth guy, a bit quiet and timid sometimes but overall a cool dude. He was super passionate about his stuff and really appreciated any feedback he got and tried his best to sound diverse and different with each release. I literally found the messages as I was typing this lmao
