coming in September for four nights in Dublin. Staying at the Hyatt Centric with points. Looking for the best non tourist pubs with the best music. Going to Galway and Belfast after...
Sadly I'm out of touch with city centre music pubs. In saying that I had a great night in O Donohue's in Merrion Row back in April. Mostly locals, few tourists. Great pints & brilliant music
I live 200 meters from the Black Forge in Drimnagh but have only been in it once .Its very nicely done out and they do a black forge Stout which is close to Guinness in taste .Two reasons i would not incline to return is the prices and getting scrutinized by bouncers at the door .Being a Pensioner i only use Wetherspoon pubs ,and there are two nice branches near enough to me in Camden street and Abbey street. Pints of Ale from 2.60 euro .I did recently discover a decent pub in Temple bar .Its called the Turks head on Parliament St .It had been closed since the Con-flu but was redecorated and refit and opened again on St Patricks day last March .Pints of Guinness in there are 6 .50 Euros and very reasonable for the area .
Great video Pat , love the buzz of Dublin but the Wicklow’s you done while back beautiful, I flew to Dublin for the day from Gatwick flew back at night , just a day break, I regret not dropping into Connor mc Gregor’s bar , next time , amazing fly in do be a day and back out , Temple bar is expensive think 2008 paid 16 euro for a pint lol Like you don’t like getting caught out so I floated through Tempke bar over penny bridge up to the prison that’s now a nurse I’m by Hueston train station , Great video brought some memories, like every city sadly lack of Irish workers, mostly different countries, I noticed that as a big change , same in London I remember a bad turn out in the HARP bar, o Connor bridge , do you remember it???… well gone now, 1991 that’s another story , don’t think English accent went down to well lol Times changed
I was in Dublin last April went to the Temple paid 12 Euros for half pint of beer. Definitely a tourist trap ! After walked down a bit down a quiet street towards the river. Saw a Thai massage place! Best place I went to was the Celtic bar , just off O' Connell Street. Live Irish singers and good atmosphere.
Thumbs up Pat ‘‘twas a very entertaining video especially for an Irish man living in Sydney, was in good ole Dub back about 18 months ago and enjoyed the food and drink. Went to that music museum place near Temple Bar and they have a great Thin Lizzy room with Phil’s black bass there although the U2 room could be a lot better. Can’t help mention the issue with illegal immigration after all the suffering and sacrifices over the past few hundred years that the Irish endured and of course us being one of the largest emigration nations ourselves. Keep well Pat and all the best 💚
Artists avoide concerts in Ireland before because of the high insurance costs...now they just charge extortionate prices for tickets and people cant see to get enough of them😯
I'm amongst those who find pubs interesting and with the food wait, good guess it's not straight out the microwave. Trust those whiskeys were spelt with a 'E'.

I had breakfast in the forge a couple of months ago and it was excellent. Currently sitting jn Bangkok watching you in Dublin is quite the reversal
I'm enjoying your Ireland travelog, reminds me a bit of watching Alan Wicker when I was a kid.🙂
That's a serious compliment. Wish I was 10% as good as Wicker.
Nice ,coming over for the England game on the 7th of September, really looking forward to it 👍
Good man pat. Great to see you out and about in Dublin. 😊
Good man Pat, glad you enjoyed the grub, I'll wander over at some point and try it myself. Will hopefully see in Pattaya in October :)
