- How to fix a leaky or dripping bathroom faucet with two handles? Watch this video to see how I fixed a leaky bathroom faucet without calling a plumber. The water was dripping even when the faucet was fully closed.
First thing I did is disconnected the water line that connects to the faucet. The valves can be found underneath the sink. In my case, there were no valve underneath the sink so I had to shut off the main water line that I found in my basement. Please note, it is very
important to shut off the water line, otherwise it will cause a massive leak when I open the faucet for repair.
Before proceeding any further, I made sure no water is coming out of the faucet.
I had two options now. either to replace the whole cartridge or just replace this black o-ring. i went for the o-ring option as this is cheaper. Just in case if the leak does not stop, then
i will replace the cartridge.
I found it very helpful to take the old cartridge to the hardware store where I was going to buy a new one so I can get the identical one. whether it is cartridge or the o-ring,
After changing the o-ring, I reinstalled the cartridge and made sure to close both sides of the faucet. Then I reopened the main valve that I shut off earlier.

Hello. Great video. Instructions are straightforward. My problem is when I unscrewed the knob, I couldn't lift it off. Any suggestions? Thanks.
This may be due to corrosion or rust. Try to pry it. use a screwdriver or a small pry tool under the knob.
You can also put some penetrating oil like WD40 where the screw goes in, leave it for 15-30 minutes and try lifting it off.
Great video. Thank you. If it leaks from the handle what do you recommend replacing
Did you replace the oring on the c artridge or the cartridge itself? If you did and it still leaks, then I would say the nut to hold the cartridge may be loose or may be cross threaded. Remove the handle only open the tap to see where it is leaking. is there a hole in the the faucet? or leaking around the cartridge. then it is definitely the cartridge or its oring. hop this hel.s Thanks
@@DoitTg right now I'm trying to learn what damaged o ring can cause a leak.. thanks for the tip
Good video.. how do I know which side is leaking ?
Feel the water when leaking. cold or hot will tell you which side is leaking. if you do not have hot water then it's better to fix both sides.
@@DoitTg thanks
How do you fix a faucet like this if the handle snapped completely off
I'll
If your faucet looks like mine. you can buy the handles separately from any hardware store, like Home Depot, Lowes etc.
Please Cover the Drain....
Already Done, Thanks
What size ring is that
not sure about the size. it also depends on the type of faucet you have. it is best to take the old one to the hardware store and get the similar. thanks
