  • Anatoly Karpov was a chess machine at his peak. He played mercilessly, made relentless progress on each turn, and was the most precise player in the world. That is especially true when it comes to his endgame play. I have covered three of Karpov's famous endgames.

This video features three endgames which I think made a great impact on me when I first saw them. One thing they have in common is the simplicity of play, and the clear logic behind each of Karpov's moves.
He seems to win effortlessly, without trying to hard, and without doing anything extraordinary. He just plays logical moves and waits for a minute weakness his opponent creates. And then he doesn't let go until resignation!
The games I have covered are:
Anatoly Karpov - Vlastimil Hort, Budapest Tungsram 1973
Anatoly Karpov - Garry Kasparov, 1984/85 W. Ch., Game 9
Anatoly Karpov - Garry Kasparov, 1984/85 W. Ch., Game 27
    Timestamps:

13:25 Anatoly Karpov - Garry Kasparov, game 9

your videos helped me to find one objective in my life: I want to go for an International Master title for sure. Every free time that I have, I try to study and play even though I keep losing and losing my motivation. When you get your GM title, I will be really happy for you, specially because it will prove that hardworking, discipline and inspiration can make it possible. Never give up!

White played B4 to fix the weakness on A6. I considered that move but was concerned that it gave black’s knight a terrific outpost on C4. Why is that not a valid concern.

    Hi Stephen,
you are wearing eye glasses in your videos recently. I am assuming that you got myopia or astigmatism recently. If so, then probably, you might have low myopia or astig (less than 2), then try to stay without glasses for as much time as possible. Especially, dont use glasses for near work. If you want to use glasses for near work, get a weaker glasses for near work.
Look up the Bates Method & reduced lens method to cure myopia or astigmatism.😊

Thanks for the advice mate. My eyes are perfectly fine. I only wear these at night to block blue light.

There are two ways to pronounce the word controversy. One sounds like English and the other doesn't sound like English but is. You chose the English version.
