I cast it on a dragon or... wyrm?! I couldn't see the whole time after I cast it, the dragon had full health and even though I couldn't see, the life bar was going down and when the tornado stopped the dragon was dead.
@kevmolio Yeah, with maelstrom. The sorcerer only ability, if I recall correctly. It was one of the small dragons you fight in the woods, not the main one that takes your heart.
It's hard to believe this game is what, 3 years old? It's still the greatest RPG I've played. Like, the only problems were that there's just not enough content and once you level far enough the game becomes too easy. Like, you can call down meteors and whip up tornados. There's nothing beyond boss encounters that can endure those. On the other hand, when your character gets good, boy do they get good. There's so much variety and diversity in the classes, it's a shame that there's not much playtime, and the replayability's limited to maybe three or four playthroughs tops considering you can do everything in one go, twice if you want to see all the endings or make different choices in the game. Urg, this game is better than The Elder Scrolls and it pisses me off because Capcom won't do shit with it.

Again i like dragon's dogna for the game play, but the story was very cliché and forgettable.

TT No Ring, No death shot, Not even that crazy tentacle move mages use. Not to mention completely left out the dark blade, and holy wall from mystic knight. Oh and can't forget fulmination. (Lightning orb of death) and necromancy. Oh and also should of shown a scene of 4 sorcerers casting together because that looks sooo bad ass. Man this game is amazing...
Magic is how it should be in this game, your character has weak defense but some pretty strong spells by the end. The mage has weak defense though and pretty much misses out on the action to climb and grab enemies (since their grab and climbing attacks are weak). Melee, for me, is where this game is at and it's accompanied with some amazing abilities such as Dragon's Maw which can easily rival high level tier spells and has no casting time.
Just got this on ps4 and loving so many design decisions, and lot of fun. Even story style, voices , world design, caves.. Much better than dai from the little i did on that game, only 1st big map. Each little thing you discover you can do is fun and feels like it works and seems to make sense. Even armor and clothes are cool but feel believable. And there's not crazy lots of loot that takes all your time to take and go thru. One thing i wished is more solid physics on animations of enemies so they react with heft and feel good, not stutter and jerk around weirdly. Maybe its bcz on console and weak cpus idk, seems better in this video. Also i like that it doesn't take forever to learn fun skills. Only thing is i wish u can use spells when you're a fighter etc.
There's a dragon's dogma MMORPG that is almost exactly the same as regular dragon's dogma (same combat system and everything) but it's only in Japan, and it's not really open world so much as it is co-op (which, IMO, is better than open world anyways because it expands gameplay options) Here's to hoping Capcom decides to release it to the west soon
It's highly likely because the director of the project is considering bringing it to the west, and Capcom extended the trademark for DDO last year But I haven't found any confirming evidence, there's still a chance that it won't be coming over

There is NOTHING for a magic archer like the feeling of unloading a whole hunters bolt on a single Cyclops.and just watching as a chunk of its health vanishes and it staggers and then falls to the ground.

Yes. You can get Griffith's White Hawk armor and Guts' Swordsman's Armor. And there's a few swords that match Griffith's rapier and Guts' Golden Age sword. And the load page art was inspired by Berserk. Seems the creators had lots of love for Berserk. Hell, I rarely use the best armor because I love walking around looking like Guts.

This game was SOOOOOO ahead of its time. A deep rpg system with really really good combat. The voice acting was pretty bad but just spruce up this engine, put it on current gen systems, hire a good writer, and you have an instant GotY.Still upsets me the creator chose to work on DMC 5 instead of DD 2. DMC didn't need a boost. It would be remade eventually. DD on the other hand is a young IP that really needed a killer sequel to cement it's IP in gamers minds.

+Kris Plays Well the story not very good compared to your typical western RPG, not even considering JRPGs lol. The world, while it not bland, does become monotonous after a while. It's not very fun walking into a new area and seeing the only thing new is some new types of herbs and the same enemy but recolored or with different armor or finding the same damn ore that you find in the beginning of the game. The combat and many of the sidequests are very fun to do though. I also never got why people complain about the travelling. The game has portcrystals which you find at very important places and you can take them and place them anywhere you like and warp there anytime. Also, the main draw of RPG is discovering new areas, yeah it can get annoying setting a waypoint far off, and dying when you get there because you fall off a cliff or you come across a drake, but that's the fun in adventuring, you should always prepare because you never know what you'll find. The game really opens up when you get to the duke and there is alot to do post-game. It is very fun and reminds me of Two Worlds II, which was also very fun but had it's fair share of low ratings.
the biggest problem has to be the world itself, as +Potpourri said its not very fun walking into a new area, even the bigger cities only have like 5 people...its just not as lively as for example Witcher or Skyrim. That being said the combat is so much better and the most fun thing about this game and Two Worlds 2, for people like me who valuate combat system so high they get bored of playing Skyrim after 10 hours those 2 games are a blessing, especially the spells in dragons dogma as sorcerer

That malestorm last skill is very useful skill.. you can kill drsgons, griffins, and many big monsters with it easily.. it actually levelup to level 3 malestorm but players only reach to level 2.. also if you equip skill rings then at starting you can use level 3 skills
Now I wonder if I start the game with a Fighter and have the Sheltered Assault when I become a Mystic Knight, will I be able to create machine gun fire by using it on the Great Canon skill?

The game has its issues.You will do allot of walking across a bigish game map where enemy placement will pretty much remain the same and its not one i would suggest if you want a rpg that has memorable characters and story(though it did a awesome job of building up a villian and the last big parts of the game) .Those are some pretty big deal breakers for some people but fuck its satisfying to fight ,climb onto and kill big monsters!

From what i understand it is on Ps3,360,and Pc.Demon souls,and the Dark souls games are some other good ones to check out but are considered really good and really hard lol.I prefer dogma over skyrim when it comes to combat but the quests in skyrim are way more fun and interesting .My favorite being the talking dog cause it was so perfectly unexpected.

As it's been 1 week, you may have your answer already, but for others curious; It's Holy Glare/Holy Furor/Holy Retribution for the Mystic Knight class.
A Duck It's also the most disruptive spell in the game. If one of your pawns uses it, just stand around and wait until it stops blocking your vision and dropping your framerate to 10. Definitely not worth the trouble.
cJinL Can't say I've ever experienced that, I never had wizards in my party because I was playing as one myself. It's not disruptive in the slightest when using it yourself, because you're never close enough for it to be a problem.
Dude, you gotta combo those magic cannons with ruinous sigil. that way you don't have to attack the cannon yourself, the sigil will do it for you when enemies get in range.
You can't lol that shit. It's the most horrible death ever. Though watching the entire magic list miss because you're on a platform is terrific. Watching my dead arisen skydive for two minutes with free boulder action... how did they not beat the dragon?!
If anyone here who plays Dragons Dogma can you tell me if you can learn to cast magic faster than it does in this clip? it takes 20 sec to charge up a attack on this video
Andrew Walle Johansen it depends on the spell. Some take 2-5 seconds but those tend to be weaker. While really powerful spells can take from 7-15 sec. Plus if you hold down the cast button without letting go you can just keep casting the spell without activating it.
can someone help me please, i got 3 cursed weapon Lv2 but every time i purify it is either dragon's glaze or bolt action (both ice elemental i don't use their vocations) no matter what is my vocation or my pawn vocation, i tried MANY times the same results always

+Powbits Testpow There is no specific necromancer class per se. The closest to a necromancer would be to go sorcerer and choose skills like Miasma, Necromancy (which summons floating skulls that deals damage), Exequy and Dark Affinity, possibly some debilitating skills too. Of course you have to complement this with dark robes ;)
- abbysal anguish is hands down the best weapon buff in the game - the issue with great cannon or wutever the fuck its called is it lasts pissing time - you can cast ruinous sigil on the ground and cast great cannon inside of it, that way you are basically invicible if you are only up against guys that can be flung arround. Notice how im only talking about mystyc knight skills. Well that is because that is my favourite class and i have 150 hrs in this class alone
This formula of hack'n slash RPG should be used more, and all powers are realtime, even to cast spells.

I just bought it again for $15. Immediately fell right back into it. It's actually aged well, more so than Skyrim.
the reason skyrim aged poorly was it's awful, dull combat system. It was borderline passable then. it's god awful now.

I love the skill where you dig your sword into a chest cavity and give it a few twirls before kickin' them off.
This game is a 10/10 for me. Awesome graphics too.

That malestorm last skill is very useful skill.. you can kill drsgons, griffins, and many big monsters with it easily.. it actually levelup to level 3 malestorm but players only reach to level 2.. also if you equip skill rings then at starting you can use level 3 skills

Now I wonder if I start the game with a Fighter and have the Sheltered Assault when I become a Mystic Knight, will I be able to create machine gun fire by using it on the Great Canon skill?
well you cant start with those but you can buy them With Discpline its either Fighter Mage or Strider
Mystic knights don't have sheltered assault

+* AkaTsubasa * In my opinion it is very much so. The gameplay is fun ,figthing monster is addicting and being able to switch classes and try them all on one character is sweet . The game has its issues.You will do allot of walking across a bigish game map where enemy placement will pretty much remain the same and its not one i would suggest if you want a rpg that has memorable characters and story(though it did a awesome job of building up a villian and the last big parts of the game) .Those are some pretty big deal breakers for some people but fuck its satisfying to fight ,climb onto and kill big monsters!

From what i understand it is on Ps3,360,and Pc.Demon souls,and the Dark souls games are some other good ones to check out but are considered really good and really hard lol.I prefer dogma over skyrim when it comes to combat but the quests in skyrim are way more fun and interesting .My favorite being the talking dog cause it was so perfectly unexpected.

Ricochet bolt / hunter has got to be the most fun. Just spam that bad boy in a tiny corridor in bitterblack and you'll stunlock anything you don't one shot

As it's been 1 week, you may have your answer already, but for others curious; It's Holy Glare/Holy Furor/Holy Retribution for the Mystic Knight class.
what does the tornado skill do against for example a chimera ? Just damage it or more things?
Just damage. only flings small mobs in air.
It's pretty much an "I win" spell for anything smaller than a tree. If the damage from the spell itself doesn't kill them, the fall damaged will.
A Duck It's also the most disruptive spell in the game. If one of your pawns uses it, just stand around and wait until it stops blocking your vision and dropping your framerate to 10. Definitely not worth the trouble.

Can't say I've ever experienced that, I never had wizards in my party because I was playing as one myself. It's not disruptive in the slightest when using it yourself, because you're never close enough for it to be a problem.

Dude, you gotta combo those magic cannons with ruinous sigil. that way you don't have to attack the cannon yourself, the sigil will do it for you when enemies get in range.

You can't lol that shit. It's the most horrible death ever. Though watching the entire magic list miss because you're on a platform is terrific. Watching my dead arisen skydive for two minutes with free boulder action... how did they not beat the dragon?!

If anyone here who plays Dragons Dogma can you tell me if you can learn to cast magic faster than it does in this clip? it takes 20 sec to charge up a attack on this video
Andrew Walle Johansen it depends on the spell. Some take 2-5 seconds but those tend to be weaker. While really powerful spells can take from 7-15 sec.
Plus if you hold down the cast button without letting go you can just keep casting the spell without activating it.
There is an augment that halves casting time. It is a must for big spells.

can someone help me please, i got 3 cursed weapon Lv2 but every time i purify it is either dragon's glaze or bolt action (both ice elemental i don't use their vocations) no matter what is my vocation or my pawn vocation, i tried MANY times the same results always

daquan Wallace i changed to all the vacations, still no results, however it changed a bit after i killed the dragon

+Powbits Testpow There is no specific necromancer class per se. The closest to a necromancer would be to go sorcerer and choose skills like Miasma, Necromancy (which summons floating skulls that deals damage), Exequy and Dark Affinity, possibly some debilitating skills too. Of course you have to complement this with dark robes ;)

You should! The PC version is far superior to the PS3/Xbox 360 version.
ye i did get it and im loving it, such a better experience.
- abbysal anguish is hands down the best weapon buff in the game
- the issue with great cannon or wutever the fuck its called is it lasts pissing time
- you can cast ruinous sigil on the ground and cast great cannon inside of it, that way you are basically invicible if you are only up against guys that can be flung arround.
Notice how im only talking about mystyc knight skills. Well that is because that is my favourite class and i have 150 hrs in this class alone
