    I’ve actually came to my stand to find deer under my tree stand and a lot of times they come back; usually before dark on an afternoon hunt. My respect to the man making the video anyway. I’ve learned a lot from him.

      Not impossible. But not typical either. If it was the same deer that came back, you likely had the thermals working in your favor, or the deer were young and uneducated on getting downwind. Most times, a mature deer will get down wind of the area before coming back to a place it’s spooked out of

    • @CoyHoward-z8w
      @CoyHoward-z8w 15 годин тому +1

      Which is another tip. If you walk in, especially if you’re using a climber or saddle setup, and jump a buck or something. Set up about 100 or so yards down wind of where you jumped him out of. Sometimes, you can catch them later in the day circling back down wind to re-enter his bedding area

    Hunt in Pennsylvania on public land, you don't have to worry about spooking deer. YOU cant spook what isn't there...

    To further elaborate what he means, the last hour before daylight is normally the coolest time. So your thermals are going downhill until it starts heating up. So if you’re hunting a ridge side with bedding below, your thermals are gonna drop down to them. Try to get there RIGHT at daylight. Also, walk in without a flashlight if possible

    I shot my two biggest bucks before I could set down in my stand. One at 11am and other at 3pm. You’re right. They didn’t have time for my scent to hit them. Thanks for another great tip.

    I walk in to my stand in the dark with headlamp. Walked right past whitetail deer within 20 ft. As long as you don’t stop they just stand there. They get a bit fixated with your light and they feel safer in the dark. I’ve also had bucks walk straight up my trail footprints in the snow and not give a rip about my footprint scent left just 30 minutes prior. I also marinate my outer clothes in a bag with alfalfa pellets all year long.

      Usually that's a die bedding area and also a staging area for bucks...do for me, I would only hunt 1 side of it, or access thru the woods early and hunt the backside of the bedding area with my scent blowing away from the field direction

    What’s your view on this. I have to walk through a bean field to hunt my best spot in the morning. Most of the time there are doe in the field eating in that timeframe. Is it worth bumping them? Or should I just save the spot for the evening?

    One of my 2 private spots to hunt has deer bedded all through the 30 acres I have to hunt there. I get busted walking to the stand anytime I try and hunt mornings. Advice? It’s all wooded except powerline right of way with a nice sized pond and our property ends right before large cornfield

      If the leafs are wet or it's a windy morning, wait til sunrise and still hunt your way to your stand. Or just don't hunt the morning and go out when most hunters are going to lunch. I see alot of mature buck midday every November. Or since you know where the bedding areas are change stand locations and play the wind. Sound like you got a nice piece of property, good luck this season

      Well you have to know what the deer are doing in your spot. If you’re hunting between bedding and food, you might wanna get there early. If your hunting between the first food source and water, you can get there just after daybreak to get in before they get up on you

      If your in a travel corridor... just before daylight... if u can get there without spooking. If you need to get in front of deer to sit closer to a bedding area, or before they come off the field then get there at least an hour before. If there's daytime movement, or u plan to sneak in for an afternoon feeding, then let the deer get into the woods 1st and settle in. Trail cams, layout of land, and experience will determine.

    This works great if your rich and hunt private. Public "just in time" means walking back to your truck cuz theres no room left for you. Morning thermals suck getting in the dark but its the only way to get to tour spot before someone else.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  7 місяців тому

      Actually this is the exact practice I use on public land...check out my PA federal land buck I shot in late Nov this season!
      Cool thing is...no other hunters seen in 2 days. You don't have to be rich to work hard and get away from other hunters on public land. I don't every year. If you are hunting around other hunters you just aren't working hard enough to find a spot you can have to yourself. Very easy to do...and I do that every season whether I'm hunting PA, OH or MI.
      Work harder...find new spots...and hunt smart. Those 3 strategies will help you find success no matter what your income status is...or how much $$ your prioritize for hunting each season.
