What an awkward interview for all
It was hilarious when the interviewer said “have you got any concrete plans?” and David replied “we’re gonna lay some crazy paving man” I’d have been pissing myself laughing. Unfortunately not enough people got his sense of humour.
This is Wessel van Diepen, a dutch DJ who was pretty successful in managing some dance acts like Venga Boys in the late nineties. At the time of this interview he was still very young and inexperienced, and a little ill-manerred or let's say undiplomatic and direct (as dutch people often are). Probably he was nervous...
@@tom.1 I don't know, he seemed pretty chill to me. He also kept saying sort of cutting things. I just think he's a bit of a jerk.
I have seen a few TM band interviews during this period and like this one were mostly cringe worthy. Bowie wasn't interested and had one foot out the door it seems. Watch his Paula Yates interview from this time period.....tough to watch.

After the interviewer called mister Bowie emphatically “David” a few times, it lookes as if DB was making fun of that by calling him Wessel a couple of times.

@@bv3580Fans don't have to sell records in order to critique bands. The fact is TM weren't all that good, and would have struggled to sell anything if Bowie hadn't been the frontman.
