I wish all female led and cast films were interviewed in this manner. This was an amazing interview. Loved the vibe. Really got the mindset of the director and actors. Truly a gift to the fans.
So good to see the interviewer NOT being 'over-enthusiastic or getting personal or being in a constant state of elation to please the audience and rather have a calm conversation with authenticity and connection being the ultimate objective of the entire interview.
Mistletoe - I disagree strongly. I was really annoyed by this interviewer as her questions were quite shallow and repetitive. She hasn’t even touched on the central issue of a grown respectable academic stealing this little child’s doll. I was hoping we would hear about the subtext of that “event.” I love the crew and the adaptation of the story, but it seems over the head of the entertainment interviewer unfortunately. It’s such an interesting story, Proustianesque, but honestly if I was to watch this interview first, I would not care about watching this movie, or it would make me think it’s just another chick flick.
My husband and I saw the movie last night and have talked about it all day -- we both enjoyed it, and it brought up many subjects worth discussing. I'm thrilled to watch this cast interview. I'm a longtime fan of Olivia and Maggie, and recently got to know Jessie's work but it was wonderful to see Dagmara and Dakota in action for the first time. What a dream team, and what a great sofa talk. Kudos to the interviewer for asking smart questions then stepping out of the picture to allow the ladies to talk.
maggie gyllenhaal finding ways to say "no children were harmed in the making of this movie" as clear and eloquent as she can is my biggest takeaway from this interview
i'm glad she explained the process behind those scenes and i believe her. it takes patience to work with children and i laud her and the cast & crew for making it seem all real.
Of course this is a dream group of women, but I just want to give props to the interviewer. She did a wonderful job and I feel her soft spoken approach is perfectly conducive to pulling out a genuine and incite full conversation.

Amazing amazing film . Excellent casting. Maggie Gyllenhaal has always been my fave. So incredibly brave as an artist and innovator. Not afraid to go deep. Incredibly talented. i cant wait to see what she does next. Brava!
I literally grabbed a cup of tea, my blanket and sat comfy to watch and listen to this interview. The strong & fun women power vibes here is absolutely amazing. I wish more interviews were conducted like this! I LOVE THIS!
28:06 is really important, and quite profound. Thank you for pushing back a bit, Maggie. I felt the same way about boundaries being crossed where actors were directing other actors in a way that, perhaps, wasn’t their place to do so.
Wow, wonderful interview, great questions, and Maggie seems to be the embodiment of servant leadership as a director. Can't wait to see the movie! Looks like there are so many important topics raised there.
One of the best interviews with wonderful and talented women talking about an amazing film ! The video is fascinating, espacially if someone wants to work in the industry
I loved the acting and everything about this movie. I wasn't so caught up on the story itself. And it was so difficult to watch Dakota Johnson in such a dark role.
If you're interested in another movie - completely different from this - in which Dakota has a dark role, check out the remake of Suspiria. It was awesome.
Jessie Buckley and Olivia Coleman, 2 of the greatest actresses in the world right now. Everything they do is fantastic. Thankyou Maggie for bringing them together.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GROUP. This made me want to see the film. I've met Dakoda, but I would love to see all of them. These intense real chats really invite us to see the film.
Interesting. The first comments are the usual trolls - finding fault and expressing some jealous response, like they didn't know what an interview like this would be and they were perversely surprised. Then things shift and the appreciation for this really interesting piece increases and it has found its audience. Bravo Gyllenhaal for bringing this cast together and exploring a complex, very layered piece. These actors are totally at the top of their game. The precision in their performances is razer sharp.
Cheers Thomas. Tipp and the Nenagh area is also when Shane MacGowan's people are from. Even though he grew up over here in England he eulogies the place in many of his songs. Dead on about the characters. That generation of Irish people you use to come across work on the buildings over on London and places were so full of life with the funniest stories that would have you in creases. Amazing how things can change in just one generation I guess. Same all over though.
I love all of these women and their work, especially this film. But I need to point something out that's really kind of magical. Look at the table in front of these ladies every so often you'll see a reflection of a cloud passing above them outside around the 9:57 mark. Just kind of magical along side these wonderful human beings. That's all.
Very thought provoking. Both the movie and the discussion on child actors. We should all be sure we really want children. Especially if we don't take to parenthood with a first child.
Wow, these women all have a similar vibe. Like they’re all the same ‘type’ or ‘style’ of human, if that makes sense. Of course individuals, but very much in common look/vibe wise.
The movie is excellent, serious in fact; it’s about regrets and pieces of life that are too late to be mended together. The interviewer made it look as light entertainment, which is really incredible. I don’t think she saw or understood the movie.
I’d take these women and Maggie as a director any day over typical Hollywood shit that comes out!!!! This movie was fantastic, love all these women and their interesting characters!!!!! Not sure about the repeated “no money” statement, you mean the movie was a volunteer effort?? Haha. I guess the actors took a pay cut! Maggie Gyllenhaal, pls keep making movies about interesting women!!!!
You definitely could have gone with a different moderator! Amazing bunch of women with great chemistry but the moderator was trying to kill the vibe for some reason. Anyway, I cannot wait to watch the film. If there is Olivia Colman, always count me in.
That's because you're used to seeing all those hyper interviewers who speak too loud and won't let people finish their sentences. She's poised and asks intelligent questions - no vibe killing here, they seem all pretty mellow anyway. I want to see more interviews by her.
When I watched the film, I thought there was a resemblance between Olivia and Maggie - quite noticeable in this interview. I'd like to see Maggie direct her brilliant brother Jake in a film.
I'm so in love with this ♥️ they're so warm and intelligent *-* I loved the movie and I can't stop reading how people related with it or interpreted what certain scenes meant .. they're all just amazing
@@amybiel1116 Why do you always make things about race? It's not about being black or white! Last year, so many black women shined on their respective areas of interest. Michaela Coel, won a Major Award for I May Destroy You. By saying, "white women only", you are coming off as racist.
Amy Biel - Have you read the book or seen the movie? The story is about this particular encounter of such and such people on a little Greek island that hasn’t come to terms with the equality of women to men, not to mention race, hahaha …The Greek American family from Queens with 300 years deep roots on the island didn’t bring any progress in that respect from the new continent either - and that’s what spices up the story too. Could the main character be black? I don’t know, but it would not be based on this book then. So it would be entirely different story.
12:08 she didn't really think about her answer, did she? There definitely are things that make you a bad or good mother when the goal is to raise a capable, strong, independent and well nurtured human being.
Maggie would speak after each lady when she felt they were saying something that could potentially be a liability for her as a director… lol 😂 chiming in after them-like baby lol 😂
Watched the movie, what a fresh story from a female POV centred on female characters. Felt like the criticism i’ve seen online is bcos people are so used to plot driven stories, the male gaze - and the fact that this film stray from those things.
While the movie was dark and the actors were amazing, I was annoyed by all those close ups of the kids with the adults. I mean, up close to a few inches from the faces was hard for me to watch.
I wish all female led and cast films were interviewed in this manner. This was an amazing interview. Loved the vibe. Really got the mindset of the director and actors. Truly a gift to the fans.

she is the best...so sensitive and asking great questions....respect the people interviewing and knowing she's not the centre of this. love her
She was a lot more genuine than your typical Hollywood interviewer

What a treat of an interview. I loved this movie so much and have watched it several times now. There's something new to see every time.
Dakota and Jessie shine so bright in the movie. So so so wonderful
as a mother of three I absolutely loved this film. Thanks Maggie and all for showing more of many womens' parenting experience.

This year's best film. It should win at least three OSCARS.
🙏❤️💯
Jessie Buckley rocks! Renée Zellweger was right about her. What a phenomenal cast this is!
I dono but for some reason i don't like Jessy.I can see she is gifted and will get lots of work, but i just can not warm up to her..
She's masculine that's probably why

This was such a delightful interview
Beautiful movie, just watched. Amazing performances.
I couldn't take my eyes off Dakota Johnson. She just looks in a different league.
these women make me smile :)
The interviewer is quite good. Sadly this is unusual. More of her please.
It turns out that Maggie is a great actress, but also a great director.

A lot like her Momma!
I have a hard time taking her seriously or really respecting her because of 50 shades. Sorry 🤷🏻♀️
The fact that Dakota Johnson was the only one that made a poem of her act is one of the reasons why I’m in LOVE with Dakota Johnson😊

They talk about change over 20 years of time
We change everyday til the latest breath

Bloody hell they are talking a bit deep in here
