I have not only bought out my local Joann store but I’m also OBSESSED with this yarn! I’ve gotten anywhere from 14-16 squares so far. I think I paid $5.24 for them. I’ve made granny squares, sunburst granny squares and African flowers so far
That's so great! It IS fun when you get the hang of it. I'm glad I took the plunge but I have so many other projects and a bazillion skeins of yarn to use up already that I MUST resist! Haha
Ohhh...a sweater vest! Great idea! Those have become so popular! I bet a pocket shawl/scarf would look neat, too! The hippie in me loves that granny squares are a trend now! It's fun to see people looking like they time traveled from the 60's! Haha 😂
I ❤ your attitude with this yarn. Just have fun with it. I totally agree, just have fun with this yarn. It is just yarn. It does not have to be granny squares, it is what you do with it. I, too, have come across a lot of negative reviews/feedback, but I do agree with you, it is just yarn, explore other ideas and options.
I never did find the color pooling page. It looked like a southwestern type of pattern and looked so neat. I haven't seen a corner to corner photo but it's fun to see what people do with it. I will buy one more skein to do hats and will put those in a future video!
You're welcome! I think it was a one and done for me. I am a hippie chick at heart and I like the nightmare of colors of scrappy granny square items! HAHA But I applaud Redheart for giving it a go. Lots of people love it!!
Great video! I love this yarn...I am about to finish a double crochet blanket, (thanks to Pretty Peaceful), and plan to loom knit a hat..I have several color ways to play with...and am loving it. Looking forward to your next video
OH!! I have seen the bucket hats and the fanny packs! I haven't seen the cardigans! Send me a photo! I'd love to see it! I'm glad you are having fun with it!
I dont think I'd like this yarn, the colors are pretty, BUT...I wouldnt have the patience for all the messin' around it takes to make the squares "as directed" and no one has ever said how much yarn is in the skein? Is it 5 or 7 ounces or is it larger than that? It seems a bit expensive. Also, last thought, i wonder what the point in buying this yarn would be, when there are so many yarns similar to it, if not to make the granny squares with it? I wouldnt. Probably the best thing about it us the colors. Thanks for your advice its really helpful. Ive watched a few reviews on this yarn and im hearing very similar comments from others.😊
The label says 8.8 ounces, 417 yards. I paid $7.99 per skein on sale but others have gotten it for as low as $5.24 with coupons. And, yes, it pretty much playing "yarn chicken" with each round! I'm not a fan because I like the kaleidoscope of colors with scrap granny square things. The yarn colors are just too perfect for me. BUT...I have no regrets and whoever I end up giving it to...heck....I may do a subscriber giveaway with it or something...will love it I am sure! I'd keep it myself but I have kept too many already!! Haha

Oh good! It will be a fun project for sure. Although I probably won't make another one, I really had fun making this one. I am a huge fan of granny squares so this yarn was fun for me. It was a bit too perfect though so I think if I were to do it again, I would buy a skein of each color and use them all in a blanket!
I am so happy that it has worked for you! Once I did a few squares, I pretty much got it figured out but then had the issue on the next skein of it not being spun evenly! So it took some adjusting to compensate for that. I have enjoyed it but I probably won't do another one. Did you make an afghan?
@@MaryIannacone Don't. We. All! Haha I did a graphghan once and didn't want to carry the yarn. Ugh. Just thinking about weaving in all those ends makes my eye twitch...haha. 😅
I absolutely LOVE 2 of the colorways, and I use them for all sorts of projects using different stitches. I hate granny stitch, so I am not utilizing this yarn for the gimmick it represents.
Yeah...it is gimmicky! I won't be making anything else with it for a while...at least until the price drops a bit. It's the yarn version of the Stanley water cup craze!!
Yeah, it's gimmicky and pricey for what you get. I personally like the look of multicolored granny squares and not the same granny squares through a project. But, this will make a nice gift and I have a Christmas gift for this year checked off my list!! Haha

I really like the yarn so far. I am making myself a sweater vest with it, and I am happy with how quick the squares come together.

That's so great to know! I will post how mine turn out in a later video. I'm gonna use my machine for one and crochet another. 😃

Love pretty peaceful vids I made the hat with a twist and her wind river blanket they came out so easily and really look great .
Nice review. I like your style. Our granny square patterns are very similar. :)
Thank you!! I love traditional granny squares! It's so fun seeing what people do with them. The more colorful the better, too, IMHO. 😃
I made 2 cardigans with them yarns and bucket hats..!!.. People are making it a fuss about this yarn..you can do whatever you want with them..

I forget the name of the channel but someone is making Navajo looking blankets with two colors and they are gorgeous.
