Pig farmer from Sweden here! Yeah washing can be pretty tedious! But after a while I tend to get in the "zone" when you're not thinking about what u are doing.
I totally agree with you on power washing. It is a grueling job. We use to wash or own barns but it just became to much to do. My guy that washed our barns now does our 4800 head site in 5-6 hours and our 4000 head site in 4-5 hours. He's absolutely fantastic!!! He pulls up in a semi and 5 guys jump out and away they go. His pump puts out 60,000 psi (12,000/wand). He turns it down to 4000/wand. He tells me all the time that there's no such thing as hard pack. Lol. His pump was actually made to cut concrete with water. He does about 30,000 pig spaces a week!!!
Good work guys. Really like the info on farming. I like knowing where my food comes from and how you’re doing it and you guys are doing an awesome job thank you
I was pressure washing the pig barn today it's so true it's all mental I cut my finger open on the water from the power washer I felt like quiting but you gotta keep going.
I remember about twenty years ago I was sitting at a blackjack table in Las Vegas. Me and the Ex were on one end and a young couple joined at the other end. We started talking and they said they were from Iowa. Being a smart ass, I asked them what kind of pigs they raised. So for the next thirty minutes I got to hear about the different breeds of pigs raised in America and the reasons why one breed or mix was the better or worse and why they picked theirs. Nice couple and they taught me the price of being a smart ass.
I am absolutely amazed with your content also. I never been around hog farms, been around broiler houses and laying houses. You and your dad do a wonderful job
I used to work in a farrow to finish barn. We weaned twice a week, so we would wash four farrowing rooms a week and probably a weaner room once a week. I used to enjoy pressure washing rooms. I found you could just kind of zone out and clean.
We used to pressure was chicken barns, with layers of cages, 200 feet long and 50 feet wide. We took turns, 2 hours on and 2 hours off. Sharing the work made it so much easier.
Your videos are high quality and you will have plenty of subscribers in a short time. Keep it up. You should do a full farm tour of equipment and buildings.
You need a ball valve wand that will help you out a ton. It's a wand that is like your trigger but the trigger is gone and you put a 1/4 turn ball valve between the Lance and handle. Open the ball valve and no more squeezing the trigger. When you're tired put handle in arm pit and keep on going.
I feel your pain we did farrow to finish. I hated PW the 2 farrow buildings. Had to do them each every 4-7 weeks and they had to be disinfected. We were small operation each farrow building had 32 pens.
I know what you are talking about. I work in a harrowing unit and I power wash 3 times a day or when we wean our little pigs. You have to get those rooms very clean for your next set due to farrows. So I know how hard it is to power wash.
I used to have to wash our barn after emptying. We had a week before filling. Now I have 4 days until I fill again. I don't have the time to wash myself so I get custom washers that wash the barn in 2 days.
Keep up the good work. Im catching up on vids. A few requests if you don’t mind... 1) Explain the manure traps, where it goes, pump, dangers, etc? 2) You haven’t mentioned much about the pigs themselves. What do you specifically look for? Injuries, sickness, aggression, etc? You have a lot of info on the buildings but missing the most important part, the pigs! 3) Do a history on your farm with your father. Acres, timeline, grandparents, your general location, etc? One of the most interesting videos MF did.
Late to the game here. We raise finishers as well. Washing is probably the worst part. Growing up my dad always said " if I see sh*t when you're done better be prepared to eat it" haha.
In the feeders after we wash them there is a lip that packs all the feed and stuff into it and it's really hard to clean it out I can't see that your getting it look inside to see if you can hit that spot and what can make it easier
I didn’t get any footage on the way back. But I turn the feeder over onto the other side so the interior of the feeder is showing and I hit the lips pretty good. 👍🏻
Hi there, just found your channel. I find it quite interesting how you raise pigs. Just wondering if you use a mild disinfectant during power washing. Thanks-Pat
Good video used too work on a pig farm here in the uk had 600 sows bred and finished all ours, pork weights 55-60lb bacon weights 200-300lb and cutters pigs which didnt make either bacon or pork at 75lb did all our own teeth clipiping and vacs al dry feeding as swill got banned after a national disease out break in 2007 foot and mouth feed was delivered in bulk into bins we ran a batch farrowing system
You think pressure washing pig barns is hard you should try 🐑 sheep shearing. I would surround your barns with sheep to save you mowing 4hours every week. Lol good job Sawyer, keep them coming.
Tip: For irritated skin and sore muscles try Bluebird Botanicals hemp cbd sports lotion I give it a 10/10. What does the red markings on the backs signify ? Thumbs up !
You should not complain so much about power washing the barns, as it was you who said you were greedy and wanted to save that money you would have to pay to have it done for you.
Bro I do it 4 a living its like u said mental u wanna quit but can't just gotta take a break breath get back to it sucks but I get paid 175$ a day to do it not something I wanna keep doing
I know what you are talking about. I work in a harrowing unit and I power wash 3 times a day or when we wean our little pigs. You have to get those rooms very clean for your next set due to farrows. So I know how hard it is to power wash.
Hell of a job, young man, a hard work ethic is hard to find in the new generation. Your dad must be proud.
I used to LOVE power washing the barns

You are good at the vids, keep it going!

In the feeders after we wash them there is a lip that packs all the feed and stuff into it and it's really hard to clean it out I can't see that your getting it look inside to see if you can hit that spot and what can make it easier

I live in Illinois and wash barns all year round. It’s exhausting but pays good if you ever want someone to do it for you let me know 😉
Haha I’ll be sure to let you know man. 👌🏻
Respect to you for washing 💯
How much would you charge for a barn of that size
I wish you would just set a camera up to watch baby pigs, they are the cutest little ones out there.
I had no idea that you had to be this clean with pigs. You work like a horse runaway. granny90
It is a very tough job, absolutely no fun. Its way worse in the wintertime
its not as easy as everyone thanks
Hi there, just found your channel. I find it quite interesting how you raise pigs. Just wondering if you use a mild disinfectant during power washing. Thanks-Pat
You disinfect after power washing at least on our farm
What kind of disinfectant do you use when washing?
Hot water lol
I just started doing this about 3 days ago, so I'm still learning. Is there any tips or techniques anyone might recommend?
How much does it cost to have a service or someone power wash the 2,400 barn?
Why not install a fire hose washing system. You will get the cleaning pressure, plus you can have the hose in different locations.
It was the subway, lol
How much do you save by doing the washing yourself instead of hiring it out? Is there really hog pen washing companies?
Hope they paid you a bunch of money to do this. Looks like a ton of work!
Is the orange floors easier or is the floors in this video easier. I wash 6 Orange floor barns. Take 4 days for one barn
How do you go about hardpack that is 8inches tall?
You think pressure washing pig barns is hard you should try 🐑 sheep shearing. I would surround your barns with sheep to save you mowing 4hours every week. Lol good job Sawyer, keep them coming.
Haha I bet that’s a pain! Anything to cut down on time mowing I’ll take it 😂
Do you use soap in the wash?
how often do you pressure washed your barn ?
Tip: For irritated skin and sore muscles try Bluebird Botanicals hemp cbd sports lotion I give it a 10/10.
What does the red markings on the backs signify ?
Thumbs up !
I’ll definitely look into it! 👌🏻
Thanks 🙏🏻
*I see that you finally broke down and bought some airpods😁*
Why not put the feed back in a bag, damned expensive stuff to waste!
soak down then wash
You should not complain so much about power washing the barns, as it was you who said you were greedy and wanted to save that money you would have to pay to have it done for you.
G

Too much talking. More action. I skipped threw the video, every frame was your face. More work dude!
