The benefit is that is can go for more than 20 hours without refueling. Compared to jets that are near or over $100 million in cost, UAVs are relatively disposable so one being shot down can easily be replaced.
Firstly it's a sacrifice in speed but it's a bonus in endurance as the MQ-9 can fly for 10+ hours without any issue... secondly dude it's not supposed to fly over contested airspace..you think the US military is that stupid to put a subsonic turboprop drone in the same airspace where the S-400 or the HQ-9 missile air defense systems are operating in? NO
