    Despite the fantastic experience Hollow Knight has to offer, it's difficulty is often what drives players away. As a HK junkie's Christmas present to you, I explain everything left behind by fighting tutorials of the past.

    I have discovered the biggest obstacle to mastering combat in HK to be psychological. There is a deep rooted instinct within me to just slash-slash-slash and brute force after taking damage as some sort of retaliation for incurred injury to my ego. There is also a more subtle form of brute forcing an enemy - the desire to fight them on your terms, not on bosses terms. This prevents you from learning and results in beating your head against the wall. I have also displayed similar behavior in other aspects of my life. The key is be cool, in control, observe, be reactive first and proactive later. Once I realized these things about myself it set me on a course to become a better person.

      You're so right. Especially when they get staggered , I used to go ham on them now I use that time to heal or just take a deep breather

    Nice video! Just found this channel. This is generally a pretty good guide to the basics, though I might have even further emphasized to not go for parries, outside of certain projectiles. Nearly every projectile that isn't glowy can be hit, which will either destroy it or send it at the enemy that launched it. Staggering bosses is also an important mechanic that I won't pretend to fully understand, though I do know it is part of why most high-end players don't like passive damage charms like Grimmchild, which can knock bosses out of stagger.

      The big examples of parryable projectiles are the rocks in False Knight, as well as Gulkas, which are the little flower enemies in Greenpath that shoot seeds at you.

    As with all games my default gaming style consists of a high octane hit-for-hit attack style, ignoring any non-lethal hits for even a single extra hit on my enemy and dodging what will kill me or is too simple to not dodge. I use the quick heal (can’t remember the actual name) charm to compensate for my constantly low health. Along side that I favor just min-maxing my nail charms because I need to heal so much. And this has got me through the entire game multiple times. Is it the best method? Absolutely not! Does it make it more fun for me? Totally!

    I am in the third pantheon. And I recommend the players make each pantheon with one binding at a time. First, the charm binding, because you only will have the base mechanics of the game, it will be useful to the next fights. After, I recommend the nail, is just make a mage build, and put the fluke nest here. After, the soul binding, with a nail build. And then, with the expirience of so many fights with the same bosses, the mask binding. My normal build, to almost all fights, is unbreakable strengh, shaman stone, quick cut, glory of the nailmaster, and dream bringer. If you are having difficult with a specific boss, I recommend you to train it in the ascended version, and with no charms.

    isnt sharp shadow a direct upgrade to shade dash,more range and it does damage?you did say the shade cloak is the best dash,but does sharp shadow count as a dash?

    • @brandflakesinc.9350
      @brandflakesinc.9350  Рік тому

      Technically it *is* its own dash, but because it’s not a permanent upgrade I didn’t talk about it

    • @harlequinsnightmare8198
      @harlequinsnightmare8198 Рік тому

      Also, sharp shadow's range can be a downside in platforming specifically, as it only affects the range of shade cloak, which can throw you off.
