Perhaps Trump's success with Cursed Blade this run is in part because of his relatively large number of taunt creatures. Trump doesn't normally value taunt very highly (often having 0-1 in his entire arena deck), but when you are going to knock yourself down to 4 health, holding off further face damage becomes more important.
+Nerdnumberone I would honestly call it more "succeeding despite Cursed Blade"... seriously that dumb sword meant he had to do so many awkward, janky plays just so he wouldn't die on turn 4 like turn 3 coin mortal strike... I means seriously now when would that EVER have been the correct play in any other circumstance. I just don't understand this weird fixation with this garbage card. Especially because he's run plenty of times now and lost because of it. I don't watch his streams - is he just trolling or is he really this deluded about that card?

Cursed Blade has the potential to kill 2 or 3 cards for 1 mana, which is great for acquiring tempo and board control. Health isn't important as long as you can control the board. (and aren't facing excessive burst), because then your opponent simply doesn't have the means to kill you. Even if you take a ton of damage clearing your enemies board, it doesn't matter if it allows you to build up a winning board presence in the meantime. It's the same principle classic Zoolock used to win games. Cursed Blade does become really painful when you are losing the board, but if you are losing that race even with 3 'free' 2-damage shots to kill minions you'd probably have lost anyway.
+CloakingDonkey In part 1, there are 2 games (that I remember) which really show how good the card can be. In the first match, it saved the 3/2 and, later, the 3/4. Sure it dealt 7 damage to Trump in so doing (half of what he took) but the tempo let him get a pretty easy win. In the 7th match, it let him have a VERY strong turn 6 (2/3 weapon, 3/3 taunt and 2/4 frothing) which pushed for lethal, thanks to aggressive cards in hand. The issue is that Trump seems to consider it to be a "control" card... it's really not. In this run, he used it to semi-control in an aggressive deck, which works out VERY well. Being aggressive, you can afford to damage yourself in order to save your minions and push more damage in. You're putting enough pressure for your low life total not to matter too much, since the opponent will be too worried about his own life total to be able to push yours down more. If you have a more control-heavy deck (like Trump's usual), then you will constantly be scrambling to save yourself, due to low health, which is NOT good at all.
Cursed blade lets you win a game, sure - if you have it in your starting hand, have good follow ups and the opponent plays the right minions. But it will make you lose more games and also be a dead card sometimes. And the games people said he won because of the card could actually be won anyway, especially if you have a good deck generally. So when you add this up it's a bad card.... There you have the final facts about the card, haha..
i honestly feel like trump has good ideas about cursed blade, he might overvalue it a bit just to be a differing opinion but generally his ideas about it are solid looking

At 28:00 would frothing, hit face, cleave have been better? It would have cleared the board, but would have used cleave instead of slam and not have drawn a card and saved 4 health. And it may have kept the frothing on the board for an extra turn.
Keeping Cursed Blade for 5 turns would be nuts. If you hit 4 minions with 3 attack, you'd lose 24 hp. You'd have a major risk of a sudden loss unless the opponent somehow manages to only play 1-2 attack minions. And that's assuming you attack all minions before they can attack you.

Cursed blade is a good card... IF AND ONLY IF it is used in the early game to clear out low attack minions or get in free damage to the opponents face. If you have a cursed blade equipped after turn 4 and you aren't in a decisive winning position, you clearly aren't giving the negative effect the respect it deserves.
