I've called the called school several times. It didn't change. They still want a good gpa and a good SAT of 1070 with 500 in both the reading and math sections... I'm just gonna go for the appeal letter...
Kitsuna Fox I'm sorry to hear that. Make sure when you write your letter that it is strongly worded and you tell them about your strengths. I put a lot of emotion into my letter making them see that they made a mistake in not accepting me. Hope everything works out! 💙
+Monet O'Shea I applied yesterday anyway (even though I know I might get rejected so I'll eventually go for the appeal). So I submitted my SAT score with collegeboard and had my high school I graduated send my updated transcripts. I go to the FIU student portal and the status for the SAT and my transcripts are "initiated". Does that mean the school received it?
My experience will be the same as yours, so thank you for making this video!! I'm a little nervous about applying to college mainly because I have no idea how to. By the end of this year I will have graduated with a high school diploma and an AA degree.
OMG congrats to that!! Could you please give me some insight on how you did that. I lietally have the grades and gpa for apllying to FIU, but not a goos SAT score. I am absolutely horrid at standardized testing and see no point to it. If you could help me a few tips it would really put me at ease..
About to finish my second year at FIU. Love the school but it also has its flaws like every other school does. But I still love it!! All my family went there for Bachelors and Masters
@Monet O'Shea, That's great that you completed high school withan A. A. Your persistence with entering FIU is very impressive. Congrats on graduating FIU!! I also entered FIU with an Associate degree. Are you in nursimg school now?
i want to apply to summer but i'm out of state and i don't have any other way of living in Miami i don't want to go back home..basically i'm saying i don't want to apply for summer because i'm scared the term is to short and then i have to go back home..also i don't graduate H.S. till June so idk how that works
All summer sessions will have a break before the fall semester regardless. However, if you are coming in as a freshman they require you to be there from May-July/August. This may have changed due to COVID but I’m pretty sure it’s still the same.
As a freshman you’re required to take the full term class. For upperclassman they can take shorter terms that last 6-8 weeks instead of 12. The 12 week classes are from late May or early June to August. There’s always a 2-3 week break between each semester some of which require you to pack and go home due to them needing to clean the dorms. Or you could sublet an apartment from someone who isn’t living in their apartment during the summer. It’s hard to avoid going back home during the breaks unless you know someone or temporarily rent.
Can I get in with a 3.1 GPA😭? What’s the best term to apply for with my gpa because I applied for the Fall 2020 term. FIU is my dream college & I hope I get accepted.
Your GPA is great!! I’m not sure what the requirements are but I suggest everyone apply for the summer term just because most of the entrance requirements are a little lower which makes it slightly easier to get in. Plus you’ll be required to take one semester of summer classes anyway so might as well knock it out the way!
@@waltervasquez8845 on FIU'S website, each semester belongs to a different pathway. There is the fall pathway, early fall, summer A B C, and the one I'm going to, Spring. I just took the minimum GPA required to be shown that you are eligible for the Spring pathway along with the highest, and that's how I got those 2 numbers. Idk this for sure, but I'm pretty sure spring and summer term are like the the same requirements but just different times of starting.
Because schools change their requirements yearly I cant say what is good and what is bad considering the last time I took the ACT/SAT was 5 years ago lol. BUT STILL APPLY, the worst they can do is say no! You can try to appeal it, if they say no, like I did. I had taken the ACT many times and I am not a good standardized test taker lol. 💕
I would contact the university about that one because I know that it is required for all student including international to have a good standing GPA and SAT or ACT scores.
Once I sent in my information, it took the about 2-3 weeks to review, and I received my response vial mail which added about another week so in total about a month for the process.
Because it’s been so long ago I honestly cant say if they will. I also didn’t take the SAT so I’m not sure what they accept, but majority of the time international students are given priority.
Normally for freshman you would come in as a pre-nusing student but because I had already received 60+ college credits I was eligible to apply to the nursing program (so I thought). I was missing the prerequisites (as mentioned in the video) meaning I had to be apart of another program to remain a full-time student while completing the remaining prerequisites. So to answer your question no.
Hi Monet! I am currently trying to get into FIU and wanted some advice from someone who attends and has been through the process . When you get a chance can you write me back ? Thanks !
SahuriPlays both Bayview, 109, & 4th street rates are approximately $12,000 for a one year lease from August to July of the next year. I meant what I said lol.
I wasn't eligible for financial aid, but I did receive Florida pre-paid. So whatever Florida pre-paid did not pay for (just like financial aid) I had to pay the remainder out of pocket. The only thing I remember paying for out of pocket was for distance learning fees (online classes) and other fees.
Florida pre-paid (if you have it) is something that is automatically deducted from your tuition cost. If you don't have it, it is nothing that you can apply for as it is too late.
The best advice that I can give is to apply for the summer semester. I've heard people say that its easier to get in during that time because of the GPA requirements.

I would assume so. They could possibly have one and not the other yet but I would call just to clarify. The application process can be very confusing.
+Monet O'Shea I really appreciate you replying to my comments! Thanks so much! I'll give you an update on how it goes! 😊
Kitsuna Fox You’re very welcome hun! Please do keep me updated 💙.
I will be coming to FIU hopefully Spring 2018. I've got GPA 3.8 and SAT (CR+M) 1470.
Thank u for this video . It gave me some strength, To not give up and to keep trying no matter how hectic the process is👍
Thank you so much for this video. My senior year is coming up and i have been heavily considering FIU. Your video was extremely insightful. Thanks.

I am glad someone is experiencing the same journey which is why I started UA-cam! :)
This video help me understand some things , and I am very grateful to tell us about your experience
I'm from Texas with a 3.25 GPA and 1210 SAT and I got in first time for the Spring Semester. Major is Music Ed.
Hi Shea it took over a year but I finally got accepted to FIU for Fall 2019 without an SAT since I completed college english and math! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m so happy for you! Thanks for keeping me updated on your journey. You’ll enjoy it just be sure to make the best of it 💕
Monet O'Shea yes but I only have one obstacle left: convincing my parents to let me go out of state! I’ll keep you posted!😁

liberty littman what were your test scores and gpa ?
Dual enrollment is key you guys should try it out🙏💘💛

@@MonetOShea damn that sucks...are their any apartments that are cheap from FIU?
Because it’s the Miami area nothing is really cheap but sometimes you can find a sublease where they offer to pay a portion.
Hi great video. Just to answer, they accept more than they need to account for people who will go to other schools despite acceptance.

Hello, I’ve been wanting to apply this year I have a 3.8 gpa but my sat is really low. Do you know what sat score is good for me to get accepted.
you should be good i applied a month ago and got accepted with a 3.4 gpa and 1060 on my sat

No problem! 💙
I’m from Russia and I’m taking sat in American private school here and calculating gpa myself
Did you register for your classes before or during the orientation???
It was during orientation, they had a set block of time where your group signed up.
My question is how long did it take for them to respond back to you when they didn’t except you
Once I sent in my information, it took the about 2-3 weeks to review, and I received my response vial mail which added about another week so in total about a month for the process.

Hey girl! Do you know if they reached out to your teachers about the letters?
Unless your teacher adds their contact information I don't believe that they reached out. They just read them to see what kind of student you are.
Monet O'Shea just wanna let you know that my appeal was approved, thanks for your help girl!
jackiehernandez7373 omg congrats!! So glad I could help because most people don’t know about the appeal letter. FIU is great ENJOY!
jackiehernandez7373 hey I was just wondering what was your sat score that you submitted in the appeal

Because it’s been so long ago I honestly cant say if they will. I also didn’t take the SAT so I’m not sure what they accept, but majority of the time international students are given priority.

My ACT was a 28 composite.

Cool video I'm starting FIU summer C hopefully we run into eachother
seanek thanks! I won't be on campus for the summer but I will be there for about a week for graduation. Hopefully we'll run into each other then.
Congrats! I'm happy for you good luck on your future endeavors.. by the way your really cute lol
seanek aww thanks! I really appreciate that 😊
Monet O'Shea welcome hun do you have a Instagram
What’s the minimum sat score?
It depends on what your GPA is FIU has changed their requirements so I can not say but I would refer to the admissions website.
how do you pay for tuition?
You have to access it through your my.fiu.edu account under your finances tab.
Monet O'Shea Do you get financial aid? Do you pay out of pocket?
I wasn't eligible for financial aid, but I did receive Florida pre-paid. So whatever Florida pre-paid did not pay for (just like financial aid) I had to pay the remainder out of pocket. Eshika Sahay what was your sat score and gpa? can u kindly tell me?
Inzi Chy i got a 1400 on the SAT and a 3.9 gpa
Eshika Sahay did u applied for fall 2018 or earlyfall?
Inzi Chy i applied for fall 2018
what's the minimum gpa
It varies per semester and changes each year:
Early Fall 2017: 3.2 GPA
Fall 2017: 3.5 GPA
Spring 2018: 2.9 GPA
Monet O'Shea thank you very much Have a wonderful day and you deserve a sub
Kengerry Simeon You're welcome and thanks I really appreciate it! ❤️
Monet O'Shea Wait, is that minimum GPA for transfer students or brand new freshmen?
welcome159ify ^^
😎✌️
Can I get it with a 2.9?😭
It depends...do you plan on apply to a specific program?
Monet O'Shea I will apply as a upcoming freshman but only my GPA is low 😭
The best advice that I can give is to apply for the summer semester. I've heard people say that its easier to get in during that time because of the GPA requirements.
So hows your debt tho ?
I didn’t have debt because I had Florida Prepaid.
