diamond head's original version was very very thin sounding and the lead singer sang in a higher register than james Hetfield is able to sing in. Metallica definitely added more thickness to the sound ,more crunch, distortion, etc...but the genius of that song imo lies in that incredibly unexpected lead break that starts with the pedal tone and gets more and more technical as the solo moves forward..it almost paints itself into a musical corner at the heel of the neck then has that huge pickslide toward the nut end of the guitar and has a much more legato feel to it.
What a humble gentleman
Great interview
I almost like metallica’s Diamond Head covers more than their own songs. Great songs

Legend! 😃🎸😎🤘
First 2 Albums were metal.. Then they turned into white snake.
Legendary Brian Tatler. I saw Diamond Head in 2006. Metallica are great but in my humble opinion the greatest heavy metal band is Judas Priest.
Priest and sabbath are the cream of heavy rock
I'd say first is Sabbath, Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, then Priest
