The Black Album was the first metal/heavy album I ever heard. I was a teenager growing up in india listening to boy bands like Take That; my dad got me this cd from a trip abroad. I lost him 6 years ago, but every good song I listen to and enjoy is thanks to him, I miss you dad
As per my dad's narrative, there was a huge 5 story cd store in kolkata in the early 1990s, it had an entire story dedicated to foreign artists. He, by accident discovered Guns N Roses and Metallica... he told me about this story just yesterday.

Takes me back to 5th grade. This song was the reason I begged my grandmothers for a drums set. Some of the Best days of my life. This really a great song never guet old . This is one of the best music of Metallica.
When you listen to this song over and over just listening to one component each time you realize how perfect this song really is. Metallica is the greatest metal band ever and still. I didn't really appreciate metal growing up as I was more into mainstream rock. Now that I'm all grown up, I realize what I missed out on but - better late than never. I hear these guys are still killing it live in concert!
Ha ha I worked at a big stadium as security. I met so many famous big shows, musicians, wrestlers of 80s 90s. Didn't care then, it was normal loud awesome music. Them or van halen etc.. My stepmom, sister and brother like country and pop. I'm the only metal head in my immediate family. Unless you count my ex- step uncle (him and my step aunt are in the process of getting divorced. Which is a shame bc I really liked him.
This song sure changed things for Metallica. The first time I saw these guys live they were opening for Ozzy at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tn. This was 1987 or 1988. Anyway, they literally got booed off the stage. I loved them. I had never heard a band jam as hard as them. So, when Ozzy came out after all the booing his first words was “fuck you!”. Who can blame him. My point being that this song and album made Metallica legends. They went from only heavy metal fans to mainstream.

Few days ago, acted like nothing and played this in the car, on the highway, with my 11 years old son sitting behind. Metallica is the greatest metal band ever and still. I didn't really appreciate metal growing up as I was more into mainstream rock. Now that I'm all grown up, I realize what I missed out on but - better late than never. I hear these guys are still killing it live in concert!
Ha ha I worked at a big stadium as security. I met so many famous big shows, musicians, wrestlers of 80s 90s. Didn't care then, it was normal loud awesome music. Them or van halen etc.. Now I appreciate it all even more today. No other generation will pull off 80s in music. None, nada, noone. There will never ever be another micheal jackson new, whitney Houston etc etc etc
Just saw them for my 1st time in Detroit and they were incredible in 2023, the world tour continues in 2024 only 3 US Dates, better catch them while you can its an amazing experience!!!

This song sure changed things for Metallica. The first time I saw these guys live they were opening for Ozzy at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tn. This was 1987 or 1988. Anyway, they literally got booed off the stage. I loved them. I had never heard a band jam as hard as them. So, when Ozzy came out after all the booing his first words was “fuck you!”. Who can blame him. My point being that this song and album made Metallica legends. They went from only heavy metal fans to mainstream.

I’m guessing that they completed their set though. Metallica didn’t stop in the middle of a song or anything. The crowd just kept chanting “Ozzy! Ozzy!”. When Ozzy did come out, like I said before, his first words were “Fu** You!”. Ozzy and his band only played for 37 minutes before he left. Who can blame him? Anyway, peace Brother…..

Back in ‘87 Michael Jackson, Madonna and Bonn Jovi were more popular around here than Stevie Ray Vaughn. Unbelievable right? I simply told the story to bring up how far Metallica has come. I believe their “Black” album came out the end of 1990 or early 1991. That’s when Metallica went mainstream. I’m not trying to argue with you Bro.
