I honestly was surprised how Snead's feel came so easy to me, as if I've always done it all along. Maybe it's my "secret" 😂. Enjoy the video? Give it a like and subscribe, plus grab your own pair of TRUE shoes here: truelinkswear.com/?sscid=b1k8...
Epic stuff Milo, I’m always gripping with my toes which is obv bad. Quick one, you fade the ball, could you share your typical swing path/face numbers and how much you fade?
Outstanding presentation! Was not aware of Snead's footwork commentary! Very familiar with all of Hogan's teachings and always felt he kept this vital aspect secret. Not necessarily deliberately :) but i never found it in any of his books. He did emphasize more than any other point how the lead leg weight transfer in transition is what shallows the club into the slot. But to my knowledge his books didn't pinpoint the importance of the heal plant to really shallow things. And the distinction is so crtical bc when i plant too much on even thr ball of my foot the club doesn't slot properly. And the exaggerated rocking motion is exactly how i practice it.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed this one. Always fun looking back and Snead is perhaps my favorite to analyze. It's amazing what good footwork and sequencing can do!
Thanks for watching Alex! If I can ever be of further help to you in swinging like an athlete, please do check out my online options at milolinesgolf.com
If anyone hasn't seen it, you gotta watch the Jack Nicklaus vs Sam Snead match at Pebble Beach in 1963. It's on the PGA tour's youtube channel and is so amazing!
Hey Milo, what's the model and brand of your irons, please? I have been out of golf for 5 yrs and not up on current equipment. Great lesson BTW. You and Henry have transformed my golf swing. I carried a lot of bs over the last 30 yrs, and it feels great to have a complete understanding of what a true swing should feel and look like; more importantly the contact and sound at impact is amazing! Thanks a ton for all these videos!
Great stuff as usual, Milo. Quick question: I've read that Tiger did NOT shallow the club in his swing. Can you do a video on the difference between these 10 million shallowing videos out there and what he did and what is required to NOT shallow? Thanks!
He was more or less up and down the plane, more similar to what Henry's swing is like. I have longer arms and come from a baseball background so I do stand it up a bit more and shallow it a bit more. The feeling though can benefit many! Hope this helps.
Awesome! Ecco's have always looked nice to me as well. There are some TRUE's I have with a bit more grip. They have some good variety. But as this video shows, who needs shoes anyways haha.
i was watching kyle birkshire the long drive champ and in his whole swing i see him on his toes is that only good for long drive? if you search world record ballspeed kyle birkshire i think you can find it there
He's just trying to hit the cover off the ball without much care as to keeping it straight, as would be important on an actual course. Some people nowadays are up on their toes more but they've got the equipment to compensate, but for correct technique it is always better to look at the older guys with the less forgiving kit.
I don't know what club Sam Snead is using in his body pull footage. But what did surprise me is how much his belt is rising at impact, nothing close to a Left Pelvic Tilt...! In fact it looks much more like a Right Pelvic Tilt to me, I believe there must be some sort of stretch-shorten cycle present, where prior to impact during his squat you should see some Left Pelvic Tilt. But during contact he clearly demonstrates a Right Pelvic Tilt, which helps to have a straighter shaft at impact, not lagging the clubhead, which promotes more of a "drive and hold" release.
@@MiloLinesGolf DOn't forget to give us a tour of Superstition Mountain facilities and flora and fauna. Stocking feet is what Sam Snead called it in his video when he has his shies off. I always thought it was strange.
Though I appreciate Snead and his incredible athleticism (could kick the top of a door jam even at a late age), IMO today's swings are better than his. Xander or Adam Scott.....everything has gotten better. Silky really isnt part of today's pro swing. IMO. Who has a "silky" swing out there? Its a power game now....legs driving leverage. IMO
Xander has one of the silkiest, best sequenced swings the game has ever seen. Still present in today's game if you look, although equipment for the legends way back when was a bit different and was likely a contributing factor.
@@MiloLinesGolf Silky doesnt leap to mind with Xander, but that is just an opinion. He is solid, connected, leg driving,......none of which evokes silky IMO. Snead and that generation likely began with hickory ..... and thus the silky, looser, caddy drag takeaway to set the hickory. Again, just an opinion and enjoying talking about it.....and your great lessons.
Jake Knapp proves you wrong - silky smooth and shed load of power : ua-cam.com/video/M1xlzlHl7OM/v-deo.htmlsi=zGibDMEQ76ud9NiB. Plus most of the female tour, where there are some awesome swings. One reason swings are all about power nowadays is the foregiveness of modern clubs combined with very technical fitting to compensate for any idiosyncrasies in a players swing. Give these power players the old butter knife irons and proper woods and balls of yesterday and see how their swings would have to change to accomodate and stay competitive. There's very few swings nowadays that better the power of Nicklaus or Hogan, just the equipment.
@ Hogan was a hitter. Nicholas was a hitter. Snead was a swinger as Middlecoff. Fowler Fitzpatrick swingers. Rory a hitter And I did not say a silky swing could not be powerful
@@bjohnson515 sorry, what was your point? You said silky isn't part of todays pro's swings - I just pointed out one male and many ladies. Milo,
This video is pure gold. I love all of the drills! I need to hit more balls barefoot!
Thanks,
Alan
It was fun to test out!
Awesome instruction…didn’t think the toes were a tell in whether you are rotating or extending!
I was a little surprised myself that I did it naturally. Maybe all those years of watching Snead swings in slow motion.
Been wearing TRUE shoes since they first came out. I believe the zero drop has consistently helped my contact.
Awesome to hear Tom! Getting a good connection to the ground can be such a game-changer.

Thanks for watching and so glad to hear you are seeing the benefits! I have Scott irons which I really like.
Love the video and love the True shoes just wish they were wider
Thanks for watching Mike! I can't speak for the wider in TRUE. They seemingly fit me great, but maybe they have a wider option?

Do you have a video for how the left scapula works in downswing? I seem high and shruggy. And my hands are exiting to high.
Hmm, not specifically on scap, but maybe this one can help. ua-cam.com/video/2UG7_n2tHmE/v-deo.html
I wear Ecco S-Three shoes for this very reason, zero drop. The Ecco's have a bit more aggressive grip vs the True's.
