Demos begin at the 21:52 mark.
pretty bad, even laserdisc looks pretty blurry
@ivok9846 As I belabored in the video, the point was to be able to run a discernible, direct feed of footage during a livestream. As I also belabored, if I want to transfer something for OA and/or Archive Annex, I will still use my traditional setup.
@@OddityArchive cloneralliance?
episodes 269.5 and 219.5.
I also like the fact that episode 262.75 exists too, as my lil search for "capture" (on this channel) revealed...
The Cloner doesn’t communicate with OBS Studio.
@@OddityArchive no, i ment what's your "traditional setup"?
did macs ever have internal tv-cards that would allow uncompressed (lossless, huffyuv), or slightly compressed (mjpeg) capture?
Proud to be your imaginary friend ❤❤❤
A hub is not a good place for a capture card. It’s not just about the power fed to the device. Because it generates a significant amount of data, it needs enough data exchange buses free to get the video right; said buses are shared between all the devices in the hub, sometimes even taking turns to send the data to the computer.
Even a simple thing like a mouse can hog enough bandwidth to stop the streaming or truncate it, hence, you get stuttering or blackouts.
what can he do, he has a mac....
Just picked up a Macbook Pro 2015 for $300, and a 2013 Mac Pro desktop for $325, and an upgrade 12 core CPU for $25, definitely some good editing rig deals out there right now if you don't want to edit in 8K.
22:19. I dunno. If that guy's supposed to be some kind of 50's teenage heartthrob, he comes off as a late 20's looking lunkhead.
Glad to see your setup and glad you have a good phone. I have had Behringer before in my audio setups and they are nice machines. Not a bad unit but find it strange that it is usb-c only but comes with an adapter. Great job as always.
Yes more entries please.
I'll be your imaginary friend!
I also prefer OBS because of the sheer number of things you can do with it. Streamyard is good if you aren't very tech-savvy, but OBS can do so much more. And the ability to record from the screen or from an input, puts it ahead in my opinion.
The needing to be apple compatible criteria is probably actually a good thing because that's probably more of a guarantee that it's a USB video class device. Meaning you won't have to worry about vendor drivers going out of support forcing you to replace perfectly good hardware. I dunno if this is the case here though heh. A lot of windows oriented stuff uses goofy drivers though that stop working at times due to changes in windows driver frameworks and things and nonstandard hardware.
What do you mean shareware VLC? I know in the past there have been some funny unofficial malware versions of VLC...
Hi! Im looking into purchasing this converter just to digitize my old footage in VHS format. Do you recommend it?
also at 20:32 I didnt understand why you didn't select 720 or 1080p for your footage. Is there any technical limitation I should consider?
I think your demos at the end of the video look a bit pixelated, can it be corrected by adjusting the resolution on OBS?
Thanks for this video, as there isnt that much content related to this device :)
Theda Bara
Hey! I just got an Atari c240!!
Still waiting for one to come along that isn't $400+.
@@OddityArchiveI hear you! I wouldn't pay that either.
How much troubleshooting did you do before getting the clearclick? If you were able to do local recordings just fine, it doesn’t really make much sense that the stream issues would be the fault of the Blackmagic recorder.
My theory is that the (thunderbolt) Blackmagic takes too much of my laptop's relatively limited resources--good enough to run footage offline, but once you factor in the internet, it seems to tip the scales (and not in my favor). Not sure how much more troubleshooting I can do--the internet was the only remaining variable. I'm certainly open to other theories though.
The logic behind the ClearClick was to just try the cheapest thing, which, in theory, would allow for more compressed streams and, by turn, less taxing on the laptop. It seems to work.
As I belabored in the video, the ClearClick (or even the Blackmagic) was never intended to replace my usual transfer setup. All I wanted to do was be able to run a direct feed of discernible analog video in a livestream as opposed to pointing my phone at a TV screen.
10.30. Ben explains why Apple equipment IS THE BEST DEAL, bang for the buck. What PC guys refuse to understand is that Apple equipment has longevity, like buying a Mercedes as opposed to a Ford. The "price comparisons" always fall into the same "confirmation bias" of only looking at the new, mid range models, because those fit their fallacy of Apple being too expensive. When you buy a Mac, you can buy the high end because you need that performance, but it will last 10+ years. No one runs a 10 year old PC unless it has half of its parts swapped out (or its a dedicated machine running old versions of windows for legacy gaming). The other part of the Apple market is the low end. Remember those people who bought the expensive new things? Well in 3 to 5 years they will sell the old and buy new again. That means that 3 to 5 year old Macs can be found for way cheap. Apple users also are much more likely to take great care of their computers, especially the high end users, so used Macs are usually in mint condition. There are always exceptions, blah blah, but in general, I've only owned Macs since 1986, and have always spent less, year to year than my friends who buy PCs. And no, gaming is not any kind of priority for me. I actually use a computer to run other kinds of applications. I know. Crazy, it's it. It's all about the longevity.
That said, you don't need to appease the irrational Apple haters. It can't be done. Inferiority complex is not something that anyone grows out of. They will always be there. It's safest to just ignore the trolls.
You sound miserable to talk to. Perhaps we can just let folks have their separate opinions and not namecall because they disagree with you.
You got shares in apple?
> I've only owned Macs since 1986
Well there's your problem, right there
HAHAH I hope this post is a joke. PCs easily last over 10 years, especially these days when Microsoft is making a fuss that there are still so many Win 7 and Win 8 users around. PCs have better longetivity both hardware and software-wise. Usually it is even possible to run Win95/XP era software on new PCs, considering minor tweaks here and there. Only losers are buying into "premium brand" proprietary, anti-consumer, anti-right-to-repair nonsense.
This is typical Apple user denial.
Apple products are great... until they reach, if you’re lucky, their 5th year. After that, everything is incompatible. And it’s not like you can go to a store and find upgrades for it (maybe an HDD or SSD or a proprietary memory module) or compatible program updates with your OS.
Because my Windows 10 PC needs some upgrades I can’t afford at this moment, I stream with an old XP one with a TV card. I can still get new programs to use it and can even put Win7 with a RAM upgrade if I could. Good luck trying to do the equivalent with a 15 year old Mac!
