Making the most impractical miniature wargaming table

- I wanted a wargaming table that I could play all my favourite tabletop skirmish games on like warhammer, d&d and frostgrave but also something built for Black Magic Craft's new game Idols of Torment... so I DIY crafted one from scratch.

Your are a madman and I love you. The best thing about this table is that it's completely within the rules of Idols of Torment to use. Don't even need house rules. It's the right size and the deployment style of the game allows for this sort of insane table to work perfectly. Awesome.
Thank you so much Jeremy, this was such a pleasure to make. What appealed to me the most reading your draft rules was the possibilities for interesting accessible tables. I wanna be able to learn on a coffee table at midnight with my friends and then make crazy diorama tables in the morning. Thanks for making a game that allows me to get a bit weird.
Trent: "Yes, I have self-cast concrete slabs lying around the place in case they come in handy. Why do you ask?"
Never change you mad Aussie wizard!
I love this comment and I totally second this.
Love that Trent's creativity is never bound by the shackles of practicality. I'm constantly inspired by this channel to do mental stuff that has taken my kitbash, gaming, and hobby enjoyment to ridiculous new heights.
In Relicblade, there is a scenario called: The empyrean tower, where a magical tower manifests in the clouds for a short time. This is perfect for that!!
I thought exactly about this while watching this just now! Came to the comments and here you are 😂
That is an epic table. Forget the Wyrmwood ones, I want one like this!
Such a compliment! Thankyou, though this one could do with more trays.... and cupholders.... and magnets.
Trent, you need to make a diorama of an actual miscast. Like a small wizard with an exploding wand and random creatures popping out of the ground.
Looks great Trent, love it. And Now You have a permanent fixture in the middle of your shop!
....I didn't think about my actions
@@Miscast you can use it to display some plants.
Mel will be happy that you used the spray foam
that fat cherub statue with the little skull face is to die for
I KNEW you of all people would like it hahah
I don't think I've ever seen a gaming table like that.
I love how it seems to be defying every rules, even gravity.
A masterpiece !
Holy hell thats sick! I love me some realistic classic fantasy aestethic but this is so much more unique and really stands out in this hobby. Especially without the terrain that table could just be a sculpture in a museum
I really hoped that you would do something in the world of Idols of Torment and it turned out perfectly! Love it!
Thankyou! Some weird kitbashing to come soon as well, really excited about the miniature agonistic side.
@@Miscast Oh hell yeah! (quite literally)
Great table, given that it's foam you could make add-on platforms/ladders to hook into the side (like access to mountain monasteries) and make part of the battle/story take place up the tower of 'rock'.
as a wargamer my only worry is how to move it around! This looks amazing, I'd love to play a skirmish game with this
I swear one day we are gunna get the "making my living space into a lifesize gaming set video". And I'm here for it.
This is super cool
If you ever get the urge to update this table in the future, I think you *might* be able to saw off some of the more extruding bits of the table and finagle a way to stick support rods through the foam and onto the central support pipe, turning it into a terrain coat-rack table with adjustable arms. Make different arms that you can mix and match onto the table to suit your needs for whatever particular scenario you want. Modular tabletop!
Very cool idea
New favourite cross-over.
Duuuuude. ****ing nailed it. This concept is really inspiring.
Absolutely amazing. I have loved the creator communities energy with their idols of torment ideas.
Looks like a fragment of reality adrift in the Astral Sea. Nice.
That is an amazing table. People always think dark means black and shades of grey. Dark is all about the feel. That table is dark.
Have you seen "Horror inspired wargame terrain for warhammer40k, Mordheim, etc..." on Dark Matter Studio's UA-cam channel? That is very bright Dark Terrain 😬💀
4:28 I have that exact piece of skeleton but I randomly found it at a rubbish dump and never expected to see anything like it anywhere!
A couple years ago there was a trend where channel owners made videos about the channels they watch. Amongst the crafting and creating community there was one name in every single video and it was yours. This video perfectly shows why you're the creator's creator.
Yah.....Mad Genius :) Love your channel, I'm about to launch mine...I know I have been saying that for a while, trying to build the courage to do vids. Thanks to you, Jeremy and many others paving the way and helping indirectly build my confidence :) A thousand of thanks.
Brilliant!
You have so many fun projects and ideas.
I love the colour scheme you used on my Boneforest minis, and I will send you some more to cut up in the future!
6:12 the look of a man with so much joy and excitement, he can't even stand still long enough to explain the boring way haha. This is the best feeling.
this video did not get the repect it should have. Dude the editing of this is so good and funny.
Fucking amazing Trent! That's an art piece I think even the missus wouldn't mind me having in the house
Needs some heavy duty trolley wheels on the base
Looks awesome!
This looks mental and a blast to play kill-team on!
Nice epic table with the chop&slap miscast method. Love it 👍👍👍
As always, amazing energy. Your videos are such a joy to watch. Plus you're supporting Jeremy, I have tons of parasocial love for you two! Time for some (slightly awkward) internet hugs!
The statue reminds me of the aesthetics from Guilermo Del Toro films, which is nice.
Lunacy. Madness. Insanity. Brilliance. What a fantastically cool build
Yeah your standard armies would hate this, but Harlequin and flyer heavy armies would love this.
As well imagine special rules for daring jumps and stuff like that.
You can always create additional tables of the same sort (or at least height) and push them together for a larger play space.
Great idea!!! A bridge inbetween would be awesome too
That table is amazing! Trent you are a wizard.
Hope you saved all those off cuts they would make good rubble!
Maybe some roller ball bearings could be added to the base so it could roll around the shop. Such a cool idea for a gaming table.
Creatively fantastic using creative materials!
Spray foam is underutilized in terrain building. I love how you can cut it after it has dried.
Given the height differences in this board, you could create ladders but it would be interesting if there were portals too.
Your creativity is off the scale - very inspiring! Really enjoyed that. Thank you.
This is amazing, Trent. There couldn't be a more perfect representation of the landscape. With the 'knocked back' rules, models will even be able to push each other off the edges and into oblivion.
Awesome, that's my favourite kind of rule. Cheers JP!
What a gorgeous build! Who cares if it is impractical, this is a piece of art in and of itself.
This is so epic! I love it. You sir have earned the title of "mad genius". Well done man.
That "table" is just... GENIUS! I absolutely love it!
OMG I love this. It would work so well for Call of Cthulhu. Well done!!!
I have an insane new temptation... Maybe not AS insane as this, but I'm getting there
it’s honestly so fun seeing your work evolve into more chaotic ideas!
long time fan :D keep doing what you love!
I love it! This is type of gaming community I love!
Absolutely LOVE this! Very creative. 🙌
This is so wholesome!
I just love watching you goof around and have fun doing crafts and realizing ideas, that's just so heartwarming to see :3
Your vision is so original. It's fantastic and inspiring
Perfect Relic Blade table, I love it.
"Hey my guy only has a movement of 6inches, how can I move across the map?"
"Thats the fun part, you dont!"
Also, as an AoS narrative player, this is a lot better than stacking a ton of boxes up in an attempt to make my Prosecutors be any good
Amazing, so inspiring... thanks a lot for sharing!
I absolutely love this - we had a wizzened old dried up tree stump in our garden as a kid, full of holes and roots that I loved gaming on - this threw me right back to that - AAAANNNNNDDDD my pedantic Capricorn brain is like "but with a smooth 50 kg slab on the bottom hidden under an overhanging and snappy top made of light foam how in the hell is Trent going to move this without it breaking into tiny bits!" so Trent how do you move it? please my brainm needs to know! (or is it still slap in the middle of the studio forever? because I think thats not a terrible outcome personally...
Absolutely amazing. I could see this idea taking off. A cloud city version would be awesome.
about time you used that cement block. those late night were worth it with how cool the table looks
We'll get proper concrete mixing tools next time I promise
@@Miscast proper tools and better preparation haha
I love this. Gives me an idea to make a similiar idea/silhouette for necromunda or kill team. The size is about right.
This was inspired by some of my friends crazy necromunda tables. Totally would love to one in the future as well
Man this is amazing mate. I'm absolutely gonna draw inspiration for a macchu picchu style ruins in the clouds type thing for my dnd table. Spectacular work mate!
Love everything about this. My favorite wargaming memories were fighting on the cinematic game tables put together by my FLGS during the Armageddon campaign in the early 00s. Seems like the gaming systems now make that less practical to do.
Thanks for the inspiration… your videos always give me fun ideas to try. Going to be trying this textured spray paint for my WIP modular Mordheim board, and I am suddenly eying my spray foam in the garage for foam work!
watching you work sometimes makes me think you are a mad scientist chef.. just throwing some of this and some of that, and somehow it ends up frickin delicious and unique.
Ooph! Trent wheeling the concrete block down the corridor with his whole weight hovering over the metal tube gave me strong "Final Destination" vibes. That table looks worth the risk of fatal impalement, mind you. The ghostly paint job on the terrain is very effective.
I knoooow, don't worry, just some carpet burn.
That be really cool for Relicblade!
Sometimes I swear, it seems to me that you're living my childhood dream
That table looks awesome. When you mentioned using it of miniatures and all, I thought to myself how much weight can it sustain.
A lot! My biggest models and books!
Gorgeous scenery man, I'm a huge fan of more non-flat landscapes Looks like a perfect size for the 700 point games with the new Leagues of Votann box. 🔥
that is a really cool table
Incredible!!!!
Amazing work mate! Love how it all came together 🔥
Lovely 💜 I see clouds for some reason, and like playing x-wing on it or something.
That is bloody gorgeous mate.
I love the little statue. That board would be interesting for Frostgrave haha, just don’t let anyone run a wizard with the Push spell or it will be a real short match :P.
Amazing
This is amazing. Love this so much. I hoped to see your take on the Idols of Torment world.
Im not sure if filler is like plaster but with plaster you should add paint into the plaster as it chips and shows white.
Quite impractical but a majesty none the less.
Btw I'm excited to get my wand in the mail. It will be one of if not the coolest thing I own.
Lachie on one of your video, both of you talking about LotR. Now you need to play a game of MESBG on that awesome table as soon as possible.
Awesome work!
You have an awesome passion. Looks fun.
I always enjoy watching your videos . You have so much energy and enthusiasm about art and willingness to experiment that is easy to get caught up in. This time you made a fantastical and impractical gaming table but who knows what you'll make next?
looks sick my dude
I always love your HUGE builds!
Ah you had me at making and impractical
It doesn't look like a balanced table, but it looks hella cool.
Wow! Love it!!!
This is awesome and inspiring
Epic table
I love this.
This is an amazing looking table, would love playing on this.
Cracking work as always. Cheers!
« We need jump packs for this business. »
this is awesome!
Hello!
A little idea, that may help you with the whole "sprayable foam does expend" - thing. I can´t see what kind of spray foam you are using, but typically, at least where I live, there are two kinds. The 1C and 2C (One componement and two components). 1C does not expend (as much) as 2C does for usual, maybe wanna try it out.
Disclaimer: For the usage of 1C spray foam you need a special foam "pistol". When you use it you cant remove the bottle of 1C unless you directly change it for another one, elsewise you will clog the pistol.
Greetings from a carpenter from germany.
That kind of reminds me of an old Ronin board that I'd built years ago...though that was a bit shorter.
I made a mountaintop monastery with spires rising from the clouds, and it was a downright pain in the rear to build and was a pain to play on for the few things that actually worked to play on it.
most impractical??? BEST TABLE EVER!!!
Some say he’s gone mad.
Those people aren’t subscribed
The most magical table, love it so much. I keep wondering how that cart got there... probably left there by some creepy winged horses that were pulling it
Absolutely the case!
Awesome table! My one complaint about modern warhammer is that it doesn't really allow for awesome cinematic terrain pieces like this.
Yeah mine too we'll see what the future holds! I think a lot of the skirmish stuff right now would be no worries though if you play with people that aren't mega competitive.
Dude I love it!, Awesome (Y)
Also even the making of things like that are just so fun and rewarding to do.
As for all those critical people forget 'em, it's reached the point now where all they sound like is a combination of that ringing you get in your ears sometimes and then Charlie Brown's teacher- "Wah wah waaah wah " 😅😂
Love the finished product, especially that statue!, stay awesome bud 🤙
