- General Description - Ascot high street was brought to a complete halt during the peak time for arrivals for Ladies Day 2024 due to a taxi which is well alight. Crews from Ascot and Maidenhead attended to tackle the blaze using 3 Hose Reels

Vehicle fires do happen but if that had been an EV they wouldn't have been able to put it out so quickly and they would have needed specialist equipment.
We don’t have any special equipment to put EV fires out we just use more water than we would on a normal vehicle fire

What specialist equipment? Also, that's only if the high voltage battery was on fire if it started elsewhere it's possible to be there and put it out before it spread to the battery
@@tgm9991 I am not a firefighter, however from what I have seen reported by firefighters and evidence as to how a Lithium battery fire is tackled one way is to place a fire blanket over it, hose it with copious amounts of water, place the whole thing in a tank full of water to prevent the possible re-ignition. These fires or whatever size do give off toxic gases and are likely to explode and the water run off is toxic and should be kept out of water courses for the obvious reason that water probably runs into the general waste water system.
It doesn't matter whether they're IC or electric (this looks like it's IC), modern cars do seem to have a worrying tendency to go up in flames 🔥

@@LukesTherapy_ That was Ascot’s crew with the hose reel, maidenhead pulled the next and then ascot pulled their second reel. Maidenheads specials and second pump is on call 1’st pump is wholetime

We are an absolute joke in this country. Running around filming it and walking with an extinguisher nobody knows how to use. This could have been put out with one powder extinguisher before it got that bad and yet we just flap about and people have to get their phones out rather than do anything. It was during Royal Ascot so the Iveco went to any job and the pump was needed due to the job.
@@andywhite5695 Wouldn't make any difference, small vehicle fires are 1 pump attendances unless on the motorway or dual carriageway.
What's with the firemen running , it's a right off, can't be saved and nobody is in any danger.
