This is Drag racing.
Exactly. Something a working man, and his kids could build on a budget, unlike these”street outlaw cars, which are basically a pro stock/pro mod car.
@@chesterswingjr9796 I drag race on a shitty budget to, that’s why I’m a bracket racer 😂
@@rosaiyan6474 - But you’re doing it, and having fun. That’s all that really matters!!!
@@chesterswingjr9796Damn right 😂
This was a different time altogether. Now with the internet and the availability of global production, almost everything is available to anyone who wants it. When these cars were racing, there was a sense of mystery and good deal of experimentation. Without the electronics, contemporary technology, and decades of experience, winning favored an entirely different skill and mindset. It wasn't (always) just about who had the most money.
This brings back so many memories of my youth. Back in the day in the early 1970s at Palm Beach International Speedway they had "run what you brung" night. You wore a helmet and you signed a waiver. You could race. It was freaking awesome! My Dad ran stock cars out of the Hollywood Hallandale area in the late 1950s early 60s. He and his friend Fritz ran a Henry J and and Oldsmobile. He did the dirt track and the figure eights. I like the drag strip. Thanks for sharing.
The High Life is legit. That's a lot of power.
Yes it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dropper is the most gorgeous Munster-Mobile I’ve ever seen!
🔴♥️🇺🇸♥️👍 my best drag racing experience, was in a 1957 Chevy, 327 dual quads straight axle kit, fiberglass tilt front end, dual open headers, 5/13 pumpkin gear, and A nitrous oxide pump, I was able to turn lower 10's , the adrenaline rush was better than any Drug on the market Diamond Dave ♦️♦️♦️‼️
My Uncle Gilberto (RIP) had a Pearl White 62 Gasser like "High Life" ..It was called "The Electric Fish"...Miss him..
When life was simple 500 horse and a 4 speed 😎🇺🇸🇺🇸
There is nothing simple about the 4 speeds in those cars LOL, Impossible to shift like that with a stock trans and a H pattern shifter, I bet they have a $20K set up in the trans, great racing but nothing stock about it .
I wonder about that too. Old original 4 speeds don't shift well in high horsepower cars.
looks like an amazing time. killer video
Yes ,this is great motorsport. In germany we love that too. Sorry for my bad english.✌️
Love the high life
The gold Falcon dogwalks. Literally driving sideways.
Old school is the best so happy to see the old girls crawling that planet .real muscle.
Great video! Byron was my home track, after Oswego shut down.
Those falcons were awsome! Nice vid 👍🏼
Thank you!
Super cool, really enjoyed!!! 👍👍🙂
1960's & early 70's for me baby 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great nostalgia. Also great editing.
Now that was what I needed to end the day. Great video!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it 👍
I remember as a kid we load up in our family car (68 chevelle) and drive to the drag strip to race it. Then drive back home afterwards. My dad and mom would take turns racing it. Dad tore 2nd gear out one weekend. It was a long ride home with them. Lol
LOVE THE ''JOKER'' AND ''STEEL IN TIME''' GASSERS
Those are some gorgeous cars! 😎👍
Cool video, old school.. enjoyed it 😎
I love those cams and sticks
What can you say it doesn't get better than this
Glad you liked it. 3 years ago was the first time I went to a Vintage Drag race and I was just blown away with how much fun it was to watch these period correct cars run down the track. Now they are getting to be my favorite races to goto.
This wonderful Americana. The
Original Hot Rod explosion, say 1948 to 65. Every great t memory
From that super Era. As I stood watching the action, my father said something to me. He said
"In a lot of other countries, no one
Could do this" it's true the
drags are fast and fun. But it also
is the freedoms we have, which many other do not have AND someone is always trying to take away here.
Very cool video!! Ive seen that High Life gasser at car shows in the area. Bada$$ ride
Thank you!
Yea this was a good time man. Well done
I like that red and black 58 Chevy 👍
Me too, that thing is sweet.
Beautiful cars.... But a Aerodynamic nightmare!!!!
When I was a kid, my mom's daily driver was a 1963 Ford Falcon. Love this era and this video. Thank you for posting!
Love straight front axle
Sweet...
Seems like Tomeighty has some particular favorites
I had never thought of a Studebaker Loewy coupe as a gasser until the TV show Junkyard Gold found one, less engine, so there’s no telling from what the show showed what engine had been in it. Still, one at a car show would almost certainly be the only one there.
Perfect timing. We had one of our nostalgia events today. Gassers, Pro Comp, Flatheads etc. Always a good time. You guys have way cooler cars! Great video as always Tom. What do you use to shoot?
Thanks buddy, what state was your event in? I use the Sony FDR AX-53 Camcorder. amzn.to/3wlDMi0
Don't laugh, I own a 1953 Dodge, Flathead 6, with turbo induction, dual headers, , two-speed PTO pumpkin gear, that would beat any car on the long run in it's day♥️🗽‼️
New sub ! Liked 🙏😆✌️🤘
Thank you! And welcome to the channel 👍
Are they running the full quarter? Lot of fast cars out there 👍
Отлично когда люди занимаются любимым делом
👍👍👍
So close to 100k
Yes, thanks for noticing! Really weird thing is that I hit 100k followers on my Instagram (tom_eighty) and I was hoping the YT would hit that on the weekend as well. Not so. But close!.
I had 1 wish I still did.
The Hoker ran at my home track a month ago
Can someone please tell me what the small silver car was? I was thinking based on a Ferrari but not sure.....thanks.
Never seen a gasser meet with automatic trans and 2 step modules.
100k!!!
is this 1/8 mile?
Is this a quarter mile or 1,000 ft
One question. Why are some of the cars lifted so much on the front? Is it to fit the larger engine? But then, it can't be because some cars haven't the oil pan sticking out.
Someone more knowledgeable may correct me, but I'm pretty sure under (applicable to certain type class) rules, the vehicle body has to be level.
It was just a style or a fad back in the day that looked cool. Now people are trying to relive those old days and run them again.
Its for weight transfer, Look it up. The class of car is called a Gasser because it ran on gasoline instead of fuel.
👍
Is that track down hill or is it just an illusion?
They say it is an optical illusion but it always looks that way to me. That would be funny if everyone always runs a personal best at that track. Ha ha
@@tomeighty I spent many a weekend when I was a teenager at Lions Dragstrip In Willington California. You never knew what was going to drive in off the street to race. Very exciting.
okay what in the hell is that car is it a mustang or what and I know my cards and where in the hell did this one come from please somebody tell me what year what model and what it is it's got to do with the vet I bet
1960"s LEBANON VALLEY DRAGS / WEST LEBANON NY / HOWIE COMANDER OWNER
OK!!...I have been beating my brains out trying top figure out the little silver ITALIAN looking gasser thingy......PLEASE!!, somebody tell me if it's a ferrari/abarth/alfa/or fiat whatever...3:25.......🙏
Good question. Plus the identity of the nearer car at 10.27 please.
@Peder Halvorsen Thanks mate. Volvo PV544.
Wish I had 5$ for every straight axel I installed

Ну так токо в Америке
You only show one car per run . Are you try to tell us they are racing themselves.?
Thanks for the great question, I shot this video concentrating on individual cars like this because they are so beautiful and unique that I didn't want to destroy that by zooming out to get both cars in the video frame. I wanted a full frame zoomed in kind of video to see all the great detail on these Vintage cars, they are much different than the cookie cutter kind of cars that are out today. Hope you understand and thanks for watching! Tom
These cars are ridiculous, people back in the day, must have been stupid. Lower the fuckin car, it will go faster.
@Peder Halvorsen there fuckin junk. I have knowledge buddy.
Enjoy the last you'll be seeing of drag racing because the cost of oil per barrell will escalate beyond what we've seen in the past. So if you think the pump is expensive now just wait! As oil supplies dwindle and drilling spots are increasingly hard to find, sports like this will see a forced closure and it won't be long. This sport as well as all motorsport has been bombarding our ozone layer with as much fossil fuel emissions as other pollutive industries. They have fucked around and wasted a resource over how fast a car can gobble up a quarter mile! Well the party is over now and you hot rodders are just going to have to accept that! It's about time!
My man look at what meat and cattle industry does to the environment. Drag cars and hot rods can't even touch what cattle do.
I’ll bet your fun at parties. 🙄
I was chatting to Bisi (Bisimoto) meeting up with Don Garlits and going head to head with their outrageously quick electric dragsters .
What about everybody demanding jet-flights and foreign holidays ? The stuff jets pump out is dreadful . I don't contribute much now I'm immobile so I'll stick with watching cool videos of cool cars 👍.
Very cool
