He is right... I have been around the world one more than one deployment and to see the world and how others are living and then come back to the states... It opens your eyes to what you really truely have and unless you serve you will never know what its like to give up those freedoms that so many people have died for. Much respect to my brothers and sisters of have paid the price for me and my family and for those still standing watch so that we can have freedom. This country can never do enough for the families that have lost loved ones but as people we should live each day as if the next day is not promised.

You nailed it Trey. Before I went to Korea I knew we had it good America. But when you travel around that country, especially up north, you realize very quickly that we take for granted the little things like indoor plumbing, running water, and sanitation. These are some of the simple things that keep Americans healthy. Great video.

longbowmd1 Word. My first deployment was to Bosnia in '96. I crossed the Sava into country to the sound of artillery fire. I can't count the night patrols through ghost towns filled with bombed and burned out houses, or the funeral marches of children through Zivinice outside Tuzla who'd died the night before. I remember a Sunday when a bunch of kids came to dig through our trash for food. There was a little blond Serb girl in her Sunday church dress digging through the slop for a morsel of food.
It was that day when I knew our mission was righteous and I've never taken the comforts of home for granted again, because no matter how bad it seems my life can get, there are people who literally have nothing.

Very thankful for men like Scot and Tom, this video should have millions of views. They climbed the ladder to heights most men only dream about. To a regular grunt like myself, these men and their unit brothers remain our heroes and idols, for all time. Enjoy your freedom, I can only hope to cross paths with you warriors one day so I can personally thank you for being some of the best this country has to offer.

You can see the moment of frisson, when he recounts the sacrifice he's made, his family has made, the countless deployments, the many nights leaving his home with little to no explanation of where he's going or when he'll be back. It sends shivers down my spine.

His story brought back so many memories of how I felt when I got out in 2007 after serving for 13 years. It's so true how we as veterans cherish the liberties, freedoms and opportunities we have but yet so many fellow Americans take for granted.

After 20 years in the Army around SOF units, this was an enlightenment to me. It took me 14 years to understand this ideology. Freedom to do what the hell we want. I finally realized - I have the right to CHOOSE. Too long, I've failed to exercise that right.

Freedom is the chance to be better, the hope of the earth, oxygen for soul, the power of self-determination attributed to the will, in short freedom is everything. I have only respect and gratitude for all those have gone down range and those who will yet go.

I was in the military so of course I identify with this but I can imagine that police and other civil servants can also relate. I also didn't really feel this freedom until I moved to the midwest after living in NYC.

I'm a nurse, I make pretty good money. My neighbor who isnt here legally asked me, can I ask you what they pay you at that hospital? I told him. He looked at me with envy, and a little discontent. I should have told him, that in America, you're free to work your ass off and be a nurse, and make a good living.
