That was winter melon. We often use it in soups with pork. Winter melon is also used for lao po cakes or also known as wife cake. We also have candied winter melon for Chinese New Year. There are other ways to prepare it.

Beware of western food brands from america as they contains ingredients made from bio engineered or GMO and thats why china banned soya beans from america.

The pork that is a bit more pricy is the special grade lean meat 特级瘦肉. It was written there at the packaging.

Usually black chicken is more for cooking clear herbal soup or stew/steamed herbal chicken.
清远草山鸡 that is the organic free ranged chicken. That's why the price is a bit steep/expensive.
