I’d be more than happy to stay late on occasion if the client is willing to pay a convenience fee… While a million is excessive, I think double the cost or &500, whichever is greater, is more than reasonable… Then again, I actually like working, and making money… Also, as a mom, I end up working at home anyway, just not paid.

If the appointment starts at 5:30 that's two and a half hours then say it takes 9 hours because again we won't be realistic that would be 2:00 a.m. and she paid double (which i would say would be the bare minimum for staying overtime especially to about 2 a.m) I did the math and it would be $725 and that's not including if she want a haircut or glaze or anything which many people do if they get full balayage so if she's willing to pay over $700 at least great, otherwise just go on Saturday.(sorry its so long, I just get all steamed up when people act like no else's time is important) also I just want to add I'm not a hairdresser know my family is a hairdresser and my friends are hairdressers I only know what I wrote up here from watching her videos watching other videos and information I found online

I am with you. There are few things as relaxing as going in with hair that is working on your nerves and then getting the whole treatment and chatting to the stylists. Last time I had color done, I got a lovely scalp massage, a treatment for my hair. Some Turkish delight and a mimosa. Plus, you walk out feeling fabulous.
Some people demand that their time/boundaries be respected but believe that if you're in any sort of service industry that means you're required to accommodate any ridiculous request and have no boundaries.

I have a friend who's a dentist and she's told me about people who asked to be booked in after hours, on bank holidays, etc. And people get far more unreasonable when they're in pain. I think the main issue is that there are people out there who think others exist only to serve them and their needs.

But he also leaves time blocked out at the end of his work day that’s specifically reserved for in case something makes everything else run late or so there’s a designated time to fit in emergencies. Usually he’s able to go home early, but it’s there when it needs to be. Sometimes the appointment ends up being that he takes a look and has to refer people to an oral surgeon for the next morning or something though and they need the appointment and referral in order for insurance to cover it.

I've had a hair appointment just last month that lasted from 2:30 until just before midnight. I can't imagine it was a treat for my stylists (yes there were two at the end) or me. I felt bad for them and I was falling asleep myself. There is no way I would deliberately choose to start an appointment that late in the day knowing full well my service would take that long. I was just booking another appointment for a long service this afternoon and contemplating that long time frame again. Thankfully I snagged a 9:30 slot and they know it will be an all day service. Hopefully I will have more than one set of hands doing it again. Braids always take a long time, especially when they are singles.
I saw one salon one my area open that late a few years ago. We joked that the salon service included a happy ending.. two months after that joke they were raided by the police and FBI... Turns out the joke wasn't a joke.

The latest I've stayed was 10:30 I think. I've definitely done some 10, 11, and 12 hour days, probably like once a month or so I'm there till 8 or 9. I don't mind it....especially since I only work 3 days a week, buuuut it does suck missing dinner with my family AND telling my daughter goodnight. She's cried because I'm not home which absolutely breaks my heart.

Yeah, the longest color appointment I've had was about six hours. Bleach, multicolored balayage, haircut and styling. I felt so bad for the hairstylist I had do that.
I don't know of any salon that would take a service that would last over 30 minutes before unless it was a haircut. A color service like she wanted, they would check their books and they may not of even had time on Saturday because Saturdays were always a salons busiesta day and it depended on what else was going on prom, weddings, holiday parties, etc...

Gosh I can feel she's that horrible person who comes into a store at 3 minutes to close, gets told she has 3 minutes, says she knows, and then proceeds to stay inside 30 minutes, throws a fit when you offer assistance, she declines and says she's just browsing or declares she needs 2 hours to shop, and then you have to repeat that you are closed and she can resume shopping during business hours next day. Business hours were designed so we can prep for reopening next day after all customers have left, and then go enjoy our lives after work. Our jobs include working within our business hours and even 1 million dollars will not buy you a special exception. I do remember working somewhere where you could book an after hours shopping experience for your company during the holiday, but again company required booking way in advance and even those after hours was limited to 3 hours because you can't expect your employee(s) not to go home at a decent time

Probably different product and they also don’t know that clients hair if the clients new to their salon so it can definitely take that long if their hair doesn’t lift fast like that etc.
