After watching this (multiple times) I purchased the 2 LP set. It is absolutely marvelous. The best vinyl I have bought this year. Vanessa's voice is sonorous bliss. Also like her Led Zeppelin covers LP. Thank you so much for posting it.
This sounds great. I bought the album on CD a few years ago, and it has become one of my Sunday favourites! It is so well-engineered and produced that it is used as a test CD for source components, apparently. Maybe the vinyl will be, too.
Sados pal, sados. Nice upload you`ve probably stated in other videos but, what`s the turntable & the rest of your set-up?,I`m a "sado" too but,in the other way....I LOVE turntables,I can watch them on youtube for hours(lol). V.F.E.
Thank you! The turntable is a Rega P3 with some modifications, like a Groovetracer subplatter and a Rega Neo PSU. On this video the cartridge is the Shure M91ED with a Jico neo SAS stylus. I also use a Goldring Eroica LX cartridge on many videos. The phono preamp is a iFi iPhono 2, and sometimes i also use the original model of the iPhono preamp. For the purpose of this videos i use a Tascam UH-7000 audio interface for the A/D conversion.
Hello: Never heard this Lady before, Very nice voice, beautiful Soul songs from the early of 70's. The sound is great, nice to meet this woman on your channel :) As usual, very nice video :P Best!
Yes, she is good! Her Family Name, Fernández. It does mean her family came from Philippines, ?? At 7:59 I see a very well know people the bassist Leland Sklar and Keyboardist Jim Cox :D :D :D Great presentation! Best!
The name of Leland Sklar came to my attention as soon as i read the credits and saw his picture inside the gatefold cover. I have an old James Taylor album from the late 70s named JT, (i made a video a long time ago) and Leland is credited as the bass player on that album too. In the pictures of that album he already apears with his long beard and long hair, but he looked significantly younger, of course. That JT album is always the first to come to my mind when i read the name of Leland Sklar.
Hi Rui, I've been seeing him since the middle of the 80's, he is part of the band members on Phil Collins solo albums tours during 80's and 90's :) Watching his picture now, OK he is older but he looks like the same guy from the early of the 90's. Maybe he is a kind of Mr Popo(fictional Character) Leland is an assistant, a guardian angel older than the time itself. He is part of the greatness of music! :) Best!
I'm really liking these 45 RPM 12" vinyl - I'm starting to think everything should be pressed this way. Not only do they sound better but they seem quieter to me as well. I was just listening to some John Mayer recorded on 45 RPM yesterday and was amazed at the quality. I'd like to see more 45 rpm new releases and remasters.
Well, they tend to be more expensive than their 33 rpm counterparts, because besides the better production value, in many cases you need two discs to make an album. 45 grooves are wider and need more vinyl space. Having that said, in my opinion 45s are better on a direct comparison with 33s, only when everything else is the same for both versions. But there are so many variables in the process, starting with the mastering and ending with the vinyl pressing, that one can't really be sure if the 45 will sound significantly better. We can only assume that they put more care in the production of the 45 version.
Amazing imaging! ...Not that it applies here, but I think that I sometimes want to listen to a music track just because of the way it is presented. My ears and head find it difficult to negotiate a piece of music that is so compressed that I cannot hear and 'imagine' the intent of each artists performing. In this production, I can hear, from the gentle slap of the cymbals to the whine of the harmonica, and the strum from the guitar...all wrapped around the vocalist...that they all wanted to be there giving their all. This is art in motion, excellently reproduced. Thank you for your part in my enjoyment.
Wonderful selection, and lovely sound as expected! Btw, I did discover this album long time back while looking for good sounding albums.... it was a costly affair that time to import it in India
Thanks Bob. She became more or less known on some far east audiophile circles due to this album. It's being used on some hifi shows and stuff like that, to showcase equipments. Having the name of Bernie Grundman attached, also helps to gain some respect, LOL
What a shame, não a conhecia!
Nice voice and nice music. I didn't know this lady; she's only 35, I thought she'd be older… The Shure is back on the Rega. Tell me the truth: when you step into the listening room you must hear voices coming from the tonearm saying "no, not again, don't touch my wires, please!" LOL You're like me, you're always changing :P
Ah yes, being a bit OBSESSIVE with the nuances is part of the nature of the vinyl enthusiast, i think. Actually, one of the good things about vinyl, is the ability to change the character of the sound by switching one little piece of equipment. It's part of the fun. In vinyl playback the number of variables is virtualy endless, and that's a good thing because Subjectivity is the name of the game here. Yeah, i will have to force myself to keep the Shure in the headshell, at least for a few more days. 😏
Boas, sigo o seu canal que acho magnífico, como estou a colocar algumas coisas vinil e cassetes gostaria de saber o que usa para gravar e se capta o som com o mesmo dispositivo. Um abraço
Amazing sound produced from this old and underestimated cartridge. Is there by any chance, possible to know the rest of the phono setup, especially phono stage that handles all used cartridges in such perfect sounding manner. Great work, and big thanks for your effort and enthusiasm. 100% enjoyment in every second of every song...
Thank you, I'm glad you liked. The turntable is a Rega P3, and the phono stage on this video was a iFi iPhono 2. The audio was recorded with a Tascam UH-7000 audio interface.
Thank you very much for the info. iFi iPhono2 is on my priority list from this moment on. It is absolutely amazing how much juice you take out with every cartridge or setup that you use. P3 really sounds excellent, especially with Goldring Eroica LX Cartridge. Keep up with emazing work, and best of luck! I'll be tuned and close by, enjoying in music ...
Whaaat?! I still remember your fabulous Kraftwerk/Radioactivitat video, i'm the one who could use some lessons with you on "how to make a vinyl video"! You have a great eye, man! I like this album, it's nice and sounds good, although it's not a "changed my life" kind of album. It deserves some attention though, and you know that you probably need to make a video with it, too! 😄
@@MrVinylObsessive yeah but you can get the sound in with a shimmer. You must be using some interface or something. I'm just using the same little digital recorder. Yes the autobahn was crazy 🤪
@@TRPD Yes, i've always recorded with an audio interface, and i had several models over the years. Like any other audio component in the chain, the recording device adds its own color to the sound. Currentely i'm using a Tascam UH-7000 audio interface, (as in this video) no longer in production i believe, but it's still very capable, great sound and a good headphone output. With most of this devices you will have to use 6,35mm male jacks for the inputs, or a RCA/6,35mm adapter that will allow you to use your favorite RCA cables between the phono preamp output and the interface input. These devices were made for the recording studio, or the home recording studio, and most people use this to connect microphones and/or instruments. Only a small fraction of OBSESSIVE 😋 vinyl enthusiasts buy these things for vinyl recording. Francisco uses an excellent Tascam stereo audio recorder, i don't remember the model but has a lot of features and it's a bit on the expensive side. It's not an audio interface because it doesn't need the computer, it records directly to a SD card. It's actually a professional product for the studio, not a portable device.

Just jumped over to AP and ordered them.
Well done! It's all analogue!
