I cannot thank you enough for posting this video. I was not able to get widescreen video reduced for shorts until I saw your video. Thank you for introducing me to the auto reframe feature feature!
Thank you for your lovely comment Our Catio Home and for watching my video. I'm glad it helped you. As a cat lover I will certainly be checking out your channel...it looks great! 👍
OMG you are a life saver. I've been trying to upload my gaming screen recording on to TikTok and UA-cam Shorts and it wouldn't let me. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you sooo much.
@@paintingwithjanonshumpertshill Thank you for subscribing. If you ever need a Filmora tutorial doing let me know. Although it can take a few weeks for me to get it done as I always have some to do. 👍
Thank you Nik Othman Abdullah for watching and commenting. I think something similar is in V.10 but you have to right click on your video in the media tab and choose 'Auto ReFrame'. Hope that helps 👍
Thanks John another superb tutorial mate, funnily enough I am going to try and produce some UA-cam shorts, so you video is just what I need. Keep safe mate and thanks for all the hard work you put in, to make life for guys like me easier.
Cheers Russell, I hope it helps you when doing your shorts. It's a lot easier doing it that way although some still don't look great. I'm thinking of doing seperate dedicated shorts from now on instead of ripping them from one's I've already created. I just need to add another 4 hours onto each day first 😁
Thanks. The most important for me is that, the resulting video file size. I thought I made some error and resulting file too small and too blurred, but your videos are also like ~10MB so I guess it’s fine for me. One thing: YT now only recognizes vids with < 1080 height as shorts. So it cannot be 1080x1920 right? It needs to be 607x1080
Thanks DD Quack for watching and commenting. 👍 Make sure your project and export settings are at the resolution you require when you export. Regarding the vid height, adobe states 'Videos must be short in vertical orientation with a 9:16 aspect ratio and 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels resolution.'
Thank you John, that was so helpful yet again! I got an email today from Filmora saying that I am going to be refunded for my version 12!! One thing I am really confused about is how to upload shorts to UA-cam from my PC. Can you please do a tutorial on that, as well as how to make shorts on a phone using pre-existing footage, as I have only managed to do live things so far! Thanks again for your really clear explanations!
Thank you Jane and glad you got something from it. I'm sorry to say I only do Filmora tutorials not PC or phone ones but uploading shorts is exactly the same as uploading other UA-cam videos and so long as they are less than a minute UA-cam automatically knows it's a short. Also, check out this video as point one shows you how to make shorts on your phone from your pre-existing footage ua-cam.com/video/vxUNSuB439o/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ThinkMedia Hope that helps!
Thanks Judy. I don't think you can do that but if the video frame (i.e. what you see through your camera) doesn't move then you can just use the Short Video layout from the start. See here and scroll down to Short video (just past half way) filmora.wondershare.com/guide/panel-layout.html Hope I understood what you wanted to achieve correctly?
Do you know why they've changed this? It used to be so easy just by changing the setting to 9:16 and I could create hundreds of shorts. This way is quite long winded ATM but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Thanks for the video
I don't to be honest but I do think Wondershare are updating Filmora way to often and they keep moving things around. I don't know why they feel the need to bring updates out every week. They should just keep improving on what is already there instead of adding all sorts of new AI stuff, in my opinion.
@@funwithfilmora yes I agree with that ai is so complicated. I did an hour long comic con video at the start of the year and created over 60 shorts quite easily just by changing the resolution to 9:16 and crop to fit them export selected clips. It was so easy and quick
@@BartieJoyce I think a lot of people are starting to use other software, which is a shame as it was and still is a powerful editing program. Thanks for watching my videos. It is appreciated 👍
Thanks. It's so hard when doing shorts based on widescreen movies because you end up having to crop people out of frame for example when wanting to use a wide shot between two characters etc. I guess there's just no way around it really. ?:{P0mn w33aq7YU
@@funwithfilmora Unfortunately it seems to be the only way of attracting people to the channel now YT keeps pushing shorts instead of long form vids etc. I get many more subs on my main channel from shorts than i ever do from just uploading a long form video and just hoping the algo puts it in front of people. But making shorts for faceless movie commentaries is really difficult in portrait mode etc

Sometimes it can't be helped but put some text or something in there or use the blur effect which will just make it look a bit better.
