There is no name brand sd2snes, it's open source. Seemed to work fine, not sure what the complaint is here. If you wanted an official FXPak Pro you should buy it from the offical retailer.
This is the "Rev. X" which is 100% china re-work of the older SD2SNES. It uses a newer chip than the SD2SNES, but not as powerful as the chip in the SD2SNES Pro. The Rev X has the Altera Cyclone II and the official Pro has the Altera Cyclone IV. The Rev X is based off the Rev F designs which are open source, the FPGA in the original designs from iKari01 are no longer made which was Xilinx Spartan. The biggest issue with the unofficial china cards is quality control. Sometimes they leave the leds off for example, or use marginal chips. Also, I'd be concerned as the SD2SNES software gets updated, it may not work on a Rev X one day, and if there are ever any "pro features only" I wouldn't expect a Rev X to run those. BTW Current designs for SD2SNES / PRO are not open source anymore.
@@warrioroflight3489 I would not recommend updating of these clone carts. The firmware files included on the microsd cards that the sellers bundle with the carts are what you should use. I'd even recommend backing up the contents of the microsd card from the clone cart, getting a better higher quality microsd card and copying the contents to it. I have a clone EverdriveGB for my gameboy. It suddenly stopped reading the microsd card (they include cheap pos 8gb cards) but I had backed it up, transferred to a modern 128GB card and it works again. If you risk downloading official firmware, best case scenario it'll work. Worse case it'll brick the PCB. Back everything up to be safe, and don't risk updating the firmware if you aren't comfortable with having a brick. This comment only applies to clones, and you know you have a clone if you got a super low price. If it's too good to be true, likely a clone.
If everything works and it has the sd2snes menu, then I don't think it's a scam, it looks like it's the real deal on the inside? Maybe the label and case are the only difference? I did notice that the lights were different colors.
Its amazing that some people see no issue with someone selling a different product than they deliver. Its not the same cart. Very weird that anyone would try to act like YOU are the one with the problem and not the seller. That dude sold you a cheap knockoff for a name brand price. If it was shoes, I wonder if these people would be trying to shame you the same way.
That’s pretty shitty of the seller or maybe they didn’t know any better it’s hard to say, but sd2snes/fxpak pro is open source so the products should be identical bar the quality of material. I’ve got one on order because I keep seeing people mention some kind of voltage issue but I would like to test it for myself.
As a seller I'd say he 100% knew. This is what a lot of people will do sadly to make a profit. Especially with how much Amazon takes out sometimes you need to sell for 100% the price to see much of a profit. Amazon is pretty rampant with knockoffs which is interesting because it used to be Amazon for the reliable products and probably a similar item on ebay. Thats with mass sellers at least of electronics. The pictures for a lot of N64 games on Amazon you can even tell its repros with Zelda and Mario games often
Save states will probably never work 100% on real SNES hardware. It's to do with the way the sound chip works I believe. A clone cart will have the same issues.
Thanks for your video, I would like to know if you can test if that SD2 PRO cartridge is compatible with 64 and 128 GB SD cards. I hope you will help me with that question.
I had $ sitting on Amazon from a return, and there were some that advertised delivery in a few days compared to the everdrive website that said several weeks. I ended up returning this and getting a legit new one off of eBay
@@TechWithSean that's good. Glad you got it sorted out. I never trusted Amazon with EverDrive orders. Not sure why, it just didn't seem right to order one from there.
Wait, is that the seller you bought from? Were they named EverdriveStore ? I just bought one from the same page you showed in here... but I want to know if its the same seller.
What tools do you need to test voltages? I have a bunch of the clone carts for various consoles (Gameboy, SNES, Sega Genesis) and I have an official N64 Blaster PCB that I can flash individual N64 games onto it, but that's a bit outside the realm of the MicroSD enabled carts.
the fx pro isn’t for the fx chipped games it’s for the proprietor chips for capcom games , which are only 2 megaman x2 and megaman x3 .. other than that the sdpro2 will work for work on just about the rest of snes library
Well, it's an SD2SNES... The chip on the inside looks legit... Plus, the FXPAK Pro/SD2SNES isn't made by Krikzz anyway, he just sells them. You did get a pretty lame cart label though.
Hoping that you can get your money back. Just got mine hence why I'm here; it's definitely worth the wait from Stone Age Gamer. I almost bought this from Amazon as well I really appreciate your laid back demeanor, Sean. Subscribed. Hope to see more from you!
Sucks dude u got burnt for $100 but that’s crazy they got clones of this. I paid $30 bux last time for a super ufo pro 8 and it wasn’t even compatible with special chip games lmao
Hello Sean, the seller you buy it from, was it Amazon themselves or a third party? If it was third party can you name the seller so we can avoid them in the future?
Yep 👍 I got a refund and ordered a legit one from a different seller. I think the person who sold this to me has now made a new product page on Amazon after I returned my order. Hopefully no one else gets this if they pay $200!
@@tim8745 and anything based on that rev or before is based on an open source project. You cannot have a bootleg of an open source project. They can do various closed source revisions for 1,000 years and wouldnt change rev f and before. The "Rev X" these device use is their own variant based on rev F. Nothing I said was wrong.
They were charging as much as an FXPAK Pro for a knockoff. It works, but it’s like buying fake Jordans off eBay. I returned this and ordered one from Krikzz
My main concern about the knockoffs is the quality of the materials underneath. If it isn’t sending the proper voltage, it could wind up damaging the SNES.
At least I should get my money back eventually. Hopefully if anyone else is looking to get one of these, this video may help them avoid getting the wrong thing 🤷♂️
Mickey Springer - depends on what you want really. With the clones you’re not guaranteed that you’ll be able to install all future updates, and many have untested/unknown voltages. Most of the time they are fine though, I use a knock off one in my N64 “ED64 Plus” but I got the Krikzz Pro ones for NES/SNES because those are some of my fav systems and I just want the best. @@TechWithSean I have the Krikzz for SNES and Mega Drive / Genesis but if I did get a Flash Cartridge for my N64 it would be the ED64 Plus. I'm not enough of an N64 fan to spend more than $50 on a flash cart for it.

Don't get your money back. This is legit the same quality. They're all made in china. These carts are better bang for the buck.
You saved me some problems as I was also eyeing the Amazon site for the FXPAK Pro.... Very thankful for your video.
I’m sure some on Amazon are legit, this was from a third part seller on there though, so YMMV. Good luck! ✌️
Krikzz is selling the Everdrives and FXPak Pro on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca, if you're from the US or Canada, it's probably a real one.

My official cart died after maybe one use... makes me think these Chinese carts are better.
i have the Chinese carts work ok like real 1
Holy crap, you just sold me THIS one! Lol, to Aliexpress I go! Thank you!
Test to see if it runs MSU enhanced SA-1 chip games. If not, it's an older SD2Snes clone and not a pro variant, and technically you got scammed.
