As a person who animates in 3D (Source filmmaker to be exact) I do agree that it can make that "too perfect" look....that saaaiiiddd its also great for those who lack the artistic skills to draw or make something without computer assistance, see I see your point in your preference to stop motion buuuttttt CGI gives us less artistic people the ability to make what we enjoy
+Tik Oh absolutely! Everyone has their preference, and different kinds of animation can suit different people and their various skill levels. That's the beauty of it.
+Cranbersher Also you didn't mention it (or you overlooked it or I did in which case ima derpy derp) but you didn't mention how with 3D animation you CAN do full stop motion animation with it (As in you mentioned tweening but mentioning how you can animate like IRL stop motion with 3D models (See: Gmod animations) should of been mentioned there)
I'm an animation major and I absolutely appreciate everything that I've seen here so far! The animation college makes us learn everything from stop-motion to CG, to flash and hand drawn, to sand and painted animation. This is absolutely fun and glorious and gives a good in-depth view of animation and their animators! Keep up the amazing work that you're doing here and keep inspiring others around you! Lots of stars and sparkles for you!
I prefer highly stylized animation, and what you do with felt puppets is definitely stylized. I'm not sure why there's so much obsession in the gaming industry with realism...we live real life all the time, it's not that interesting.
Not to mention all the analogue distortions and characteristics of still photography is captured in stop-motion. Lots of scrumptious "feel" that you wouldn't incorporate otherwise.
I know you're still getting your how to videos out (so this would probably be something to do after that point), but I was wondering if you'd ever think of possibly putting out animation challenge videos to challenge your viewers to animate a little short something based on a theme?
I really appreciate the way that you look at stop motion animation. You can really tell that you love what you do and that you have a passion to create something imperfect beautiful. Love you for that. :)
I'm really enjoying these videos. I've always wanted to try out stop-motion animation, but I didn't know a lot about it. This series will definitely help! I'm super excited to try it out.
Haha, Cranbersher, your style kind of reminds me of the first video or two on Caddicarus's channel, except you've pushed the awkwardness a bit further and made it into a theme. It's hilarious! XD I'm sure there are people who get sick of it after a while, but I love it. Also, your recent Jacksepticeye animation is the reason I actually finally took a look at your channel; I'm glad I did! ^.^
i´m glad i found this! i´ve been doing a few stop-motion videos recently and some of your tips here are really practical, simple and above all useful. Thanks, man!
Duuuuuuuude, you're hilarious. These videos are really fun (unlike others that just drone on an on about doing this and that) you add a new style to 'How To's
*Groans from the depths of 3D animating hell* I agreee! Stop motion is a lot more 'imperfect' but it gives such a nice feel and gives you a lot of space for creativity
Id say that the real life puppets with real life limitations that are imperfect because they were made imperfectly by an imperfect human makes the whole stop motion process and indeed the results endearing. That why I am a Huge Tim Burton fan and apparently a fan of yours. :)
Well, I arrived here because I just randomly decided I'm going to animate all of Chrono Trigger so I can be promptly yelled at by Squenix and shut down...however Markiplier is someone I'm subscribed to...hmm..
I animate with flash (or animate cc as it is called now) but you inspire me to test out stop-motion! I do have some clay stuff at home, so I'll probably try using that to begin with xD
Is this why we no longer see Tido and his quest for muffins? He's just too perfect and adorable? (Just teasing! Love the video. It's interesting to watch, even if I know I don't have the patience for it.)
AAAhhh i had to use dragon motion... or something... that thing... um, anyway i had to use it in course, and we used modelling clay and stuff... instead of being awkward... yay, uh... this helps me a lot with understanding stop motion and how fun but time consuming it is... except i'm still learning, but it's super fun!
3:58 speaking from the consumer side this does have a few caveats to make it work is one thing, to make it look good is another. People have uh, physics. A person running can't stop on a dime, a thrown object usually has a little wiggle, a person landing after a jump will shake and crouch a little. A lot of time is spent adding these itty things that make the characters seem lifelike, and then factoring in lighting, shaders, character models- I personally want to get into comp anim but the idea of doing that as things are for me? Hours of work, render, correct, just... guh. I think ill stick with conventional stillframe drawings lol
I do wonder if the fact that he's using a Jack Septiceye puppet for these tutorials means anything. Perhaps he is also working on a Jack Septiceye animated video in the background, and that it will be the capstone of this tutorial series. After all, why not make a step by step tutorial while you go through the steps yourself?
You know... There's a lot of effort put in the animation CGI, and you can see it, or feel it. The thing is, I take it like that, it's an other kind animation using the same process giving an alternate result, but I don't think it is better than stop motion nor it should replace it.
Arhg i still don`t know!! I want to start/be an animater, but i don`t know what style i want to use! i think... Computer... or... stop motion..... ARHG IDK!
I just want to say this: don't EVER stop putting little surprise text in the video. They're hilarious.
+NotAnAntelope NorASerialKiller
"Is my bed more moist than usual?"
+Anston Music Am I?
also keep the completely blank screens, it's hilariously awkward and out of place.
Did I forget a question mark
+Madeleine Jones WHERE'S MY MOMMY?!

How much for a second?? 24frames
How much for a minutes?? 1440 frames
How much for a hours??? 82400frames OH GOD!!!!
I have no intention of doing stop motion animation but boy do I love this series.
I prefer highly stylized animation, and what you do with felt puppets is definitely stylized. I'm not sure why there's so much obsession in the gaming industry with realism...we live real life all the time, it's not that interesting.
Than make your life interesting
Not to mention all the analogue distortions and characteristics of still photography is captured in stop-motion. Lots of scrumptious "feel" that you wouldn't incorporate otherwise.
Yeah! I'm really enjoying this series. It's great for amateur artists like me!

+Littleinch OOOOH I LIKE THIS IDEA.
+Cranbersher i like the huggy wuggy one
+geoguy tv It takes A LOT of time. Be patient.
I'll do that I think a animation challenge thingy would be fun
THAT WOULD BE AMZING
This inspired me to do a stop motion (very simple and very short) thank you for the inspiration. :)
3 seconds 10fps and 27 frames/photos
damn thats short
animation takes a lot of time and blah blah blah and the animation is gone now.
I really appreciate the way that you look at stop motion animation. You can really tell that you love what you do and that you have a passion to create something imperfect beautiful. Love you for that. :)
"to make it nice and smooth and buttery.." :P
I'm really enjoying these videos. I've always wanted to try out stop-motion animation, but I didn't know a lot about it. This series will definitely help! I'm super excited to try it out.

That's really cool! I knew the differences, but I loved the way you explained it. Simple. Fast. With examples. Can't wait for the next part!
Always nice to see another Cranbersher's Guide even though I'll probably never even have any use for it. :D
i´m glad i found this! i´ve been doing a few stop-motion videos recently and some of your tips here are really practical, simple and above all useful. Thanks, man!
i really love this series
Duuuuuuuude, you're hilarious. These videos are really fun (unlike others that just drone on an on about doing this and that) you add a new style to 'How To's
Loving this series :) can't wait for more
*Groans from the depths of 3D animating hell* I agreee! Stop motion is a lot more 'imperfect' but it gives such a nice feel and gives you a lot of space for creativity
Could you put these videos out more often? I really like this series and would like to see more of it.
Jesus you are hilarious. You deserve so many more subscribers. Definitely subscribing!
I love this series
Thank you Oliver . You are soooo good at teaching and eveything. Congratulations :)
Love your humor style
this was really helpful! Im gonna do an presentation about all kinds of animation, and this could help me a lot :) thanks cranbersher!
dude I love your guides! I really wish you could make more guides to things in everyday life. Like how to heat pop tarts in a toaster lmao
Thanks a bunch! knowing the FPS is going to help me out a bunch in the future!
Id say that the real life puppets with real life limitations that are imperfect because they were made imperfectly by an imperfect human makes the whole stop motion process and indeed the results endearing. That why I am a Huge Tim Burton fan and apparently a fan of yours. :)
This is beautiful 😭😭
Wow.... Almost 50.000 subs... WHAT DID MARKIPLIER DO TO YOU?!? DID HE SPRINKLE HIS MAGICS ON YOU?!?
+Leinad “leinadlink” link

+Julian Emery Ummm... read again?
+Leinad “leinadlink” link
Ah... it was late when I read and replied, so my mind was scrambled with sleep.
Well, I arrived here because I just randomly decided I'm going to animate all of Chrono Trigger so I can be promptly yelled at by Squenix and shut down...however Markiplier is someone I'm subscribed to...hmm..
Leinadlink he doesn’t have 50 subs
"Sonny Jim"
Goodness, haven't heard THAT expression in a while.
Yup, you are most definitely English.
_This is awesome. That got deep at times though~ Wow Cranbersher._
yeeey!!! This series is really interesting and helpful... good job :3
looking forward to the next one :)
I animate with flash (or animate cc as it is called now) but you inspire me to test out stop-motion! I do have some clay stuff at home, so I'll probably try using that to begin with xD

REAL STUFF MADE BY HAND THEY ARE AWESOME!!!
Love your videos! 😄
5:05 I love it when Cran gets all deep and real✊
He's about to tell us how to do the did! Can't wait!
hey this guide is really useful! thanks so much for giving us lessons :D
These are so helpful and fun :D
Hey cranbersher! these guides really help!
also, what is the traditional cgi software used? (basically, what did you use?)
you are amazing and hilarious!!!
Dear cranbersher, i like the music in your videos(Especially the outro one and Q&A theme) did you compose it?
btw great videos :D
I've said it before, but stop-motion animation is my favourite type of animation x)
I also love stop motion by it's looks. You could simulate it with a computer but... You wouldn't get the same feeling.
Is this why we no longer see Tido and his quest for muffins? He's just too perfect and adorable?
(Just teasing! Love the video. It's interesting to watch, even if I know I don't have the patience for it.)
Super helpful!

"Is my bed more moist than usual?" XD
I use Flash for my schools morning announcements but I might start doing stop motion
This series is so cool! Just wondering, what's the software shown for the CG animation bit?
This came out on mah birthday....much special...
0:35 Yes, you forgot a question mark, and I forgot a period?
stop motion for lifeeee!!!!!!!!!!!111
First of all I LOVE THIS SERIES.
Second of all I just wanna know where the outri music is from XDD
"Is my bed more moist than usual?"
I lost it XD
My favorite stop motion animated series/movies are Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit and Mary Shelley's Frankenhole.
I know this comment is months old but I have to give you props for the choice of Frankenhole. BEST.
This is inspiring me so much btw would it be copying if I like make my puppets just like yours...?
2 minutes in and just like that you won a sub.
0:17 OOOWOWOWOOOOOW!! MY ARM
dude that glitch on the start of the video
I swear to god I had a heart attack
AWESOME !!! SUBBED!!
hey did you try putting magnets below the table and on the puppets feet? mabye thise will help you with your animations
I like to make stop motion, but they are never very good, but this is really helping! That only thing is, I don't have a ton of money...
Very informative and funny lol!!!!!
+Cranbersher hey can you do a traditional animation tutorial next time
I'm thinking of being an animator, I'm trying to use Tupi, a freeware "Flash-like" animation software.
Clever, very clever.
+Cranbersher Heheheheeee
Hey Cranbersher what is the song you use for the guide?
Goddamnit Cranbersher, i tought i was having a blue screen..
Your awesome
Is my bed more moist then usual?
Did I forget a question mark
Do cows exist?
I died xD
How can I computer animate if I don't know what I should use?
Can someone tell me what software or hardware Cranbersher is using to computer animate, please?
Someone can tell me how can I make removable eyes and mouth? How the mouth got stuck in the puppet did he use glue or what?
"Referce Imge" I laughed really hard
You should make a stop motion movie😊
What computer animation program is that?
What software did he use for cgi
Flash my neighbors everyday
Actually, the CG software does have a major flaw. You can easily identify it if you dare search for Toys in Japan.
How long does it take you to make a 1440 framed (Minute) animation?
I'm a Mega Construx animator, and in all honesty, I still just curious as to what FPS you use.
oh ja basics hou a bout a video with one woev and make that a series
Hai cranberry!
I luv stopmotion :D
You know... There's a lot of effort put in the animation CGI, and you can see it, or feel it. The thing is, I take it like that, it's an other kind animation using the same process giving an alternate result, but I don't think it is better than stop motion nor it should replace it.
How many times does your hands fall asleep?
Sorry if I'm acting weird I'm just wondering ^_^
I know what you mean about cgi and stop motion. Stop motion is really satisfying
do cow's exist?
Arhg i still don`t know!! I want to start/be an animater, but i don`t know what style i want to use! i think... Computer... or... stop motion..... ARHG IDK!
I like you sir. You have my subscription.
How do u make them jump
"RIP Cranbersher 2016-2015"
I know how painful it is to do animations, I dont do stop motion but any type of animating is so FREAKING LONG and HARD!
