Hi- Cabbage is waxy and tends to stick on the sides of any of the funnel tubes you use, so I was putting a little pressure on the cabbage. Cutting the cabbage is smaller pieces will allow you to push through easily without any friction created. The Bosch over the bowl Slicer/Shredder is much easier than any Cuisinart I have tried, to do the same job.
Thank you for answering both those questions, and so quickly! Actually my grandmother used to make the cranberry relish recipe using her antique manual meat-grinder she'd attach to the kitchen table, so that does sound appropriate!
The 6 grey pieces hold the lid with the funnel onto the splash ring. The top is set up to line up with either the 4 tab bowls on the Universal Plus (newer machines) or the three tab bowls on the machines older than 2006. The pieces should not fall out. If yours is doing that then you need to contact who you purchased it from to get a replacement piece that doesn't have the parts falling out.
Hello - this may be a loaded question but are you having to apply a whole lot of pressure on the pusher? If I were to get this, it would allow me - in theory - to get rid of my Cuisinart food processor which is a very good processor but I don't have a lot of kitchen space so I'd rather have the Bosch mixer with this slicing-shredding attachment to do most of the same work. But with the Cuisinart, I don't have to apply a whole lot of pressure at all. This is a concern. Thank you!
Bosch also has a food processor with the blade as the bottom for chopping, however when I do a stir fry I always use the French fry blade that can be added to the new over the bowl Shredder. It will chunk cut my vegetables for stir fry, stews, soups etc. The meat grinder attachment would do the relishes or you could chop them with the food processor's blade.
I actually have another question too! My food processor allows me to make chopped veggies e.g. for stir fry. Do any of this attachment's blades make this a possibility without having to do a lot of pre-cutting? Another video shows a man having to do long slices on his potato - but not all the way through - in order to get potato cubes. Same with cranberries. I'd like to be able to make a big bowl of cranberry relish. Would that work with either the main mixer or the attachments? Thanks!
I'm shocked she did break the cheap plastic parts on this slicer. It appears that they finally redesigned this (literally this week) with more durable plastic parts finally, after years of people complaining about the failures.
I just used mine for the first time to try and grate cheese and it broke! I used the blade with many small holes. Maybe I should have used a different grater? Just shocked that it broke so easily. They included extra of those parts bc I guess they knew I would. Better to include more details in the instructions about which foods to use with which blades… I’m just doing trial and error.
What are the 6 little grey "C" shaped pieces on the top inside the splash guard? I just got my slicer/shredder and the top will not line up correctly so the niches will fit together. These pieces keep falling out to. Are they necessary? I can see that they are going to get lost easily.
I love this, but I just used it to shred carrots and red peppers for a salad and ended up with little bits under the grey tabs that I can't get clean. If I pull out the grey pieces will that ruin it? Any other suggestions?
+Heidi Vincent Yes, the blade support pads can be removed. Just pinch the clips toward each other to loosen the pad. We can always send extra pads if one becomes damaged or lost.
I have a new Bosch Universal and the slicer shredder ring will not seat on the bowl and keeps popping off. Today I received a new replacement ring from Bosch and it does the same thing. What is the solution? The ring for mixing seats okay
@@consaboramiel Bosch worked with me and after recieving 2 different replacement rings that didn't sit properly, I received one that fit perfectly. It was a manufacturing issue of a defective batch.
When I use my shredder the whole top pops off. All I am shredding is cheese and it will pop off even when no pressure is being applied. The small piece that turns the disc will not separate from the top. What am I doing wrong?
+susan pederson Hi Susan! There is definitely something wrong! Is it brand new? There are two sized of cams that turn the discs. The shorter one is for the older Universal models and the long one is for the new Universal Plus machines. The cap of the drive and the drive should stay in the lid. You only put it on once, so that is correct. Can you email me a picture at carol@healthykitchens.com
+Carol Stiles I had used it with no problem a few times, it just started happening. I am using the correct cam, I have the new mixer and am using the long cam. Exactly what do you want a picture of? When it is set up you really can not see anything I will take several pic's and send
+susan pederson Hi Susan. It sounds like some of the parts are not fitting together as securely as they should be. We’ll be happy to send the customer(s) replacement parts to see if this will takecare of the problem (and do it as a warranty item without charge). send us your email with your name, address and phone number to carol@healthykitchens.com

Hoping you still receiving comments on this older video. I'm wondering if the divider in the feed tube is removable. Thanks in advance.

I don't see a solution just yet, I have a second one given through the warranty and it doesn't fit in the bowl...I'm so upset with this machine!
