Excellent step by step video👍🏿 Just did this with my son on the right side and me on the left- on my pristine 01 Grand Cherokee(4.0) Leaking evap core but new heater core while we were in this deep. Took us 8 hours but could do my next one in 3-4 hours-hahaha Thank you!

Glad you found it helpful! I can't imagine what a shop would charge today to get in there to replace things!

I'm guessing that your GC would have that, and it's that piece which is hanging you up. That locking-tab is WAY back there, right at the back of the dash. You need a long pry-bar to effectively depress it; I forget off the top of my head whether you pry it up or down to release it. Look into that gap with a flashlight and see if you can see it back there. It requires what seems like an inordinate amount of force, so make sure you are prying in the right direction to release it. Good Luck!

These are awesome videos. I wish you did this with a 1998 Grand Cherokee Laredo. But this can be a good guy as to what to expect. I need to change my evaporator and heating coil.

I think my heater core is going out. I'm thinking of doing it myself but this might be way over my head. Anyway thank you so much for sharing this video!!

I believe that is the shift-lever interlock cable; it's unlikely that there is a repair-piece just for that clip, and that a proper repair would involve replacing the cable assembly from the steering-column down to the shifter itself.

Outstanding video ... I used the shop manual & your 3 videos to do this and everything went smooth until I got to the LAST step! (Murphy's law) I can't seem to see the locking tab you are talking about depressing with the long pry bar. Do all GC have this tab ... the dash won't come out and I have triple checked all my steps.
    Thanks

Of the three videos, this one is having major loading issues on every internet device in my house.

Seems like extra pieces were removed? Was that to lesson the weight of dash??

I installed the heater core and the two blend doors and I removed the dash . After I put everything back together I have no power to anything. Any Ideas, the battery has 12.60 volts and I have power to the power distribution center but not under the dash. Will not start no lights , horn, flashers , radio, fans nothing. Could it be relay,or a circuit breaker, I checked the fuses and they all looked good.

What is the connector at 0:54 called "the tricky one"? The tab on top got tangled in the cables when pulling the dash out and broke (the tab). I managed to to put it in back after trying different things. In case what I did does not work what should I look for online or at the deeler? Thank you
