  • Sonya is a patient of mine who had severe antibiotic tendonitis which left her disabled. Then we began using various Regenexx procedures to help stimulate healing in her tendons. She went from not being able to climb stairs to riding her bike. This is Sonya's story.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was given one 12 years ago for no good reason (a "possible" infection... turned out I didn't have one) and it turned from an athletic, fit individual to living in an electric wheelchair for years! I'm lucky that I've slowly and partially (not fully) recovered enough that I don't need a wheelchair anymore. It's criminal that these are handed out like candy.

I've had severe tendinitis throughout my body for ten years. It's just now letting up. From elbows, to forearms to jaw. I had my first tendinitis in my elbows 5 days after cipro. Random TMJ a month later. Literally just standing at work watching my jaw swell thinking I'm having an allergic reaction. A single 8 hour shift at a new job putting muffin boxes into shipping boxes and I developed intersection syndrome. Had to quit and had a golfball size lump on the top of my forearm. My tendons ruptured in NY abs. They tore and broke 2 ribs. My distal biceps tendon ruptured playing 2 hand touch several years later. I still suffer from random horrible bouts throughout my body. Less than before, but still happen. Great stuff...

I've come to accept that I am chronically ill/debilitated after taking cipro/levaquin 10+ years ago. tendon ruptures w/ calcifications, muscle weakness, neuropathy in my feet to the point where I can only walk a certain amount each day, but the when my feet hit the ground in the morning, it already hurts, spinal stenosis, sinus tachycardia, blah blah blah. Exhausted All The Time. My daughter took 1 Cipro pill in the hospital, despite it being on her chart that it was not allowed, and she's been diagnosed with tendon problems throughout her body. F the pharmaceutical companies that still pedal this crap AND the doctors who so carelessly prescribe it.

I took Levaquin For five days and I was messed up for two weeks. Severe depression, severe anxiety, body tremors, ED...Thankfully things have come back to normal and I am supplementing with magnesium. I took Levaquin... only about 4-5 pills and felt very "out of body" ...felt more like poison even though it reduced my fever and perhaps killed off my bronchial/lung issue. That was 5-7 years ago. Now I am barely walking...almost as if I have aged 30 years since then. Pain and aches and stiffness and "hardening" of muscles in my torso, neck, hips, chest, shoulders, etc.
Just now finding out that it is possibly due to levaquin tendonitis. Slow deterioration. I am working with a naturopathic dr to help my body make enzymes again, adding trace minerals, including magnesium...on about 40 supplements and taking 1 ibuprofen every 6 hours just to make pain slightly tolerable.
Will look into Regenexx ... hopefully It is available in my area... I live in Dallas.
Grateful for people sharing their stories and suggestions and support!

I completely understand. I was prescribed Levaquin (IV in hospital) for Pneumonia. I broke out in a rash and within 1 month had a ruptured tendon in my left arm. I started having all kinds of joint pain, shoulder pain (tendonitis) and hip and spinal problems. I had no idea that Levaquin could be the cause. A few years later I had to have surgery on my neck to fuse C3-C7 . I ended up with complications and another case of pneumonia. I didn't know that I was, once again, given Levaquin in high doses via IV. Since then I live with constant pain, I've been told I have damaged ligaments and tendons in both shoulders, both wrists and thumbs, my hips. I've had to undergo three knee surgeries and should have spinal surgery for L3 and have pretty severe spinal stenosis. This all started when I was just 50 years old and I am now 62.... Currently I can't use my thumbs and am left with little options. ( I did try Regenexx on my thumbs with negative results... On the positive side, I had Regenexx in my spine and it helped a great deal. What is troublesome to me, is that there are tried and true antibiotics on the market that totally would have worked to treat my pneumonia but, for some reason ($ is my guess)... they used a drug known to cause this problem and I wasn't even informed until it was too late.

My case is almost 90% similar except i received Levofloxacin for prostate infection. Its 10 months since i took the last dose of Levofloxacin . Life is hell. I live in Mumbai and Regenexx has a branch here in Mumbai but you are in US. I used to swim, run, flaunt my biceps until last year. Today i am crippled. Tendonitis in my shoulders, upper and forearms, both hands. Can i expect good treatment at ur Mumbai center ? I am currently taking supplements like all floxies do to see if my body can recover.
