It's like BuzzFeed, but down under. We're a bit cooked, not afraid to get deep and sometimes we'll make you crack up. New videos every week!
“Rhode Island so that’s an island.” No.
“North Carolina is north.” No. Welcome to America
North Carolina is north of South Carolina, so it isn't as weird as it appears. North and South Dakota was at one point just Dakota, but they split it in 2 for equilibrium between free and slave states.....
@@thomasthomasthomas296 South Dakota and North Dakota were split in 1889, after slavery was banned. Neither had slaves.
You gotta remember that these places were founded in the 1600s/1700s. Nobody knew how massive America was.
My town is fun with our street names. We have Watson, Old Watson, West Watson, and East Watson. East Watson is south of Watson.
They’re Australians
As an american, I know where most of the states are but labeling the small states along the east coast are annoying af
Ahh yes, the collective clusterfuck of small bullshit known as New England.
*labeling the mess of borders that is the midwest
@Sara Loveday Nope its still hard.
i took this test and scored 100%... the thing is im European, but yah, i sometimes get confused too with those. I can remember them like 70% of the time but sometimes it just looks like a clusterfuck of lines XD, like.... Which of these was Conneticut again?
SAME, THOSE ARE ALWAYS THE MOST DIFFICULT STATES TO LABEL. 💀
The long haired guy trying to say Iowa is just... amazing
I was impressed by how often they were only one state off from the correct location.
"Washington is like the capital, right? So it must be in between New York and California."
lol this cracked me up
“Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down!?”
They had the right idea, but were a couple centuries too ahead. (Since DC was in the middle at the time)
When she thinks Alaska is an island at the bottom...
With a perfectly straight coastline for hundreds of kms hahaha
Your name stands for ‘goal keeper’ lmao if you know what that is
I’m a high schooler and have lived in America my whole life and I didn’t find out that Alaska wasn’t an island until last year when taking Geography... I felt really dumb when I found out lol. The reason I thought it was an island is because they always put it beside Hawaii in the corner of the map 😂
As an Arizonan I have fond memories of taking short boat rides with the fam off our south coast to our tropical island neighbors of Alaska, with their world-renowned perfectly straight beach on the East side of the island that stretches for hundreds of miles north to south
As an American I also thought that till I was a bit older. Kinda weird that it’s attached to Canada but we annexed that land.
How can you not know Hawaii is an island chain lmaoooooooo 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂
*Writing Kansas on Colorado* "I'm not in Kaansas anymore".
Me, a Kansan, laughing hysterically at a joke that shouldn't be funny: "No. No you are not."
Me: an American laughing watching this. Also me: only knowing where Newcastle Australia is
thats pretty good considering that its not a state
That's just about the most random city to know.... I need to ask why you know Newcastle haha
Bowiesinspace well, obviously is know where Sydney is too but I know Newcastle because I watch some people on UA-cam who are from Newcastle, like Georgia productions.
Andreea Mihai I love Georgia!
AUSTRALIA HAS NEWCASTLE..?
i'm british, we have newcastle
When she got confused about NYC, I saw it coming 😂😂😂😂
As someone from Georgia, it hurt to see us get labeled as Alabama multiple times lol.
Fun video :)
Why? It instantly gives you a better football pedigree.
@@encycl07pedia- true

Ik i watched a bunch of these videos and nobody has got ohio right
Alabama is still a 3rd world state compared to Georgia
As an American, this was hilarious to watch! 😆
same lol
Ikr...I was cracking up. Although we might not fare well labeling Australia's map.
Same I’m cracking up
now we need 'Americans try to label map of Australia'
There's only 7 states and the Capital Territory. 1 is Western Australia, 1 is South Australia and one is the Northern Territory. Tasmania is an island. So, that only leaves 3 to guess + the ACT. I'm thinking most would get at least 50% right, but people constantly let me down.
@@JJ-cv4lw I would imagine WA would be pretty easy, but I would imagine people would put the NT where QLD is, and I'm not sure if a lot of people know that TAS is an island, so that could be labled as SA. You could also throw a few cities in there as well to have a few more options
@@JJ-cv4lw and yet Americans don't know any
san iker I’m an American. Try me.
Australian geography is never taught. The ONLY thing you learn about Australia is that The British sent their prisoners there. There is also next to no Australian media, so it's just not something most Americans come by
As an aussie myself, I don't think I could've done much better myself. I just don't think I ever had a single lesson in school devoted to learning any of the US states
@@lenaelisabeth They teach European (Western, mainly) history in American schools still.
Don’t worry As an American I tried this on Australia and got the easy ones South Australia, Western Australia, and Northern Territories. I also knew where Tasmania is, but I made a total mess of the East Coast
Good try guys! I was actually amazed at how many Ryan got right, some Americans wouldn't get that many right.
Gigi C. Yes, as an American, I would fail at this lol.
I don’t expect anyone from outside the US to know our states. I will say BuzzfeedUK did better for some reason. Even people from the states can’t name all of our states and that is just embarrassing and tragic.
FACTS as a American I didn't expect them to get alot right anyway
Did you see the UK people doing England? They looked like they did even worse on the UK than the USA.
The one thing is to list all(or at least much) of the states' names, while the other is to label them correctly on the map. As an European I would place properly about 1/3 of the states, without gazing on the other map in the meantime :)
"There are fifty states, how do Americans remember all of them?" This explains why many don't know European countries either, there's double the material to cover since the U.S. is so big. States are practically their own countries, so being able to name all the states and European countries isn't anything to sneeze at! It's nice to see this works both ways! I'd also like to see both groups name countries from other continents like Africa, Asia, and South America!
I remember my 5th grade teacher would use cookies as a motivator to help us learn our 50 states and capitals, since like to eat cookies I would usually win the first place cookie and this was during the 1990s.
I don't think they approve of teachers giving the kidsjunk food anymore. Lmao. Especially with all the allergies, dietary lifestyles, etc.
I trained my dog by giving her treats. :)
i'm literally british and him calling tennessee mississipi triggered me-
"I don't know, but Idaho." lol. And then..."Texans love KFC." Oh you. lol.
As an American, I WAS SCREAMING AT THE COMPUTER!
Why didn't they put Alaska and Hawaii in boxes to show they were out of place?
"Rhode Island, ok so thats an island" Hate to break it to ya.....
There is an island called Rhode Island in the state of Rhode Island, from whence it got its name .
Beardy with the long hair is so close on a lot of them (before the rush). He's like one state off on a lot of them, but he got the general regions right.
Texas is not the Deep South, IMO. It's still Southwest. Florida, Arizona, and a lot don't have strong accents. Florida has so many different people living there.
"How do Americans do this?"
We don't learn any other geography but our own and the continents......barely.......haha
"How do Americans actually like actually remember this?" Answer: We don't. For the most part. Too many to remember. (LOL)
Are you serious? I mean... the states are so engrained in my memory they're a piece of cake... ask me all the capitol cities, and I'm shakey though.
I also love how europeans (I know australlia in't part of Europe) complain about how there are too many states. The US and Europe are roughly the same size and The U.S consists of 50 states and Europe consists of 44 nations.
@@josh0g It depends, I can recall the majority of them, BUT placing them is a bit harder for me, especially the northern Midwest region. Capitol cities, don't bother asking me. I only remember less than 10 of 'em. lol
Lol I had to learn them all in 4th grade...
Nah I remember where very state is have it all memorized
This is so funny! If I use the Aussie system it is somewhere between New York and L.A.
How to offend a country in 15 minute or less! 😂honesty I'm from the US I found this hilarious. I can barely name all the states.
I’m from the USA and I legit don’t know where Nebraska, Arkansas, Kansas, Wyoming, Iowa, or Indiana actually is.
I'd only get Texas because of memes 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Sohan just makes me laugh
Her: “How do Americans remember this stuff?”
Me: We know most of it but not all of it
I know all the states. : |
The little east states!
I knew all states and capitals by 3rd grade back in 1984.
We live here... we've BEEN to many of these states. I mean, if you drive through, you kinda learn where they are. XD
Speak for yourself. I know all the states.
australia also a pretty hectic island lol
ayla not really. 6 states and 2 territories. Pretty simple
"hectic" lolll
It's still not bad for non Americans especially since they're Australians with simple geography of 6 States 2 territories & even there 3 units have their respective directions & 2 of them have Australia in their names. I think Australia also has some overseas territories or something similar, that may be more of a challenge.
Sohan is really carrying the team in this video 🤣
I can't laugh. I doubt I would be able to label Australia's provinces. I still get confused about New Hampshire and Vermont.
So I'm 14 years old and I live in America and learning the states is not part of our classes. Yet I personally know where each one is because I thought as an American I should know them. Y'all did good though. I'm from Washington and people from other countries think we aren't a state.
Lool rouge island that looks like a pretty hectic island 😂
I don't know if you're joking, it's actually Rhode island
Saradha Ramalingam ik that they way she assume it was hectic made me laugh

Do you know why there was only 49 contestants in the Miss Ebonics USA contest?
No one wanted to be Miss Idaho
I'm from Idaho.... i get it
But what if I am da ho
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!
"How do Americans actually like remember this"
Simple answer: We don't, We might remember a few at the very least, but unless we are into geography, we don't remember all of them
I know them all, we had to label so many times in 7-9th grades
If this was a test she would have gotten a 8% and she is still happy
As an American, I learned US geography and where the continents are. That was it
Some of them did a pretty good job at least getting the region of most of the states right
if thers a south in the naem, it doesn't;t mean its actually south its SOUTH of another state. West Virginia is WEST of verginia
Sohans map is great! Like if every person in the USA got amnesia and woke up living in her geographical version of America
1:42 Does she think that New York City is a state? Oh no just oh no.
RYAN IS slaying that bad boy
Sohan ahhaha
I can’t
Everyone seems to forget about the upper Midwest/Great Lakes area. That's where Chicago is
I’m American and can name all 50 states in order from West to East or vice versa from about the age of 10 or 11 but that’s only because I love geography. There are Americans that are my age now (32) that can’t name all the states or know where they are so don’t feel bad lol.
I'm a Canadian and thought 18 was impressive. I'd probably only get 18 or 20 spot on and I have been to a lot of the places haha. I think I'd get 90% in the general vicinity, though. I have a good idea of which ones belong in New England and the South and the Midwest, just not which order they go in haha. Oh, and I know Alaska isn't an island floating around in Mexico. Haha.
1:55 Him trying to say Iowa is honestly great lol

I wish Lousiana was that far north. We've been roasting in the southern heat since Mid-March
How do you not get Alaska or Hawaii? Those are soooo easy! I love that she thought Rhode Island was Hawaii because of "Island" in the name...OMG.
I'm from America but I have several Australian friends so I do know most of the states, I forget some from time to time
I'm not sure how to feel about Iowa getting mispronounced so much. Just say the letters, guys, we aren't messing with you this time. I was impressed that one person placed Iowa in Nebraska, since i rarely see any non-American place it near its location. And let's be honest, eastern Nebraska is very much like Iowa.
The girl is every American kid in 2nd or 3rd grade when the teacher first hands the class the maps and tells them to label the states and that there is a time limit. I think every American kid does poorly the first time. They usually get their state and some neighbor states correct. Then their taught the states by region and that seems to help. Today the US territories and federal district are included in some schools as my niece had to learn those (though they’re learned as if they were a region themselves). When someone asks me to write the states down on a piece of paper, I write them by region starting with the New England region as that’s how I learned and memorized them. That’s also how I fill out the map. But yeah, seeing her and when she says “how do Americans know this there’s so many” I remember back to when I was in school after doing the US map labeling test for the first time and having similar conversations with classmates about the fact that there’s so many and how are we supposed to learn this!
Considering it’s not something I would think is being taught in schools in Australia, I think they did a great job!
You should put Alaska where it is in the world map which includes Canada for the reference..... That map is USA local map I guess 😂
love sohan
I WISH I WAS PART OF THE LOWER 48 SO PEOPLE WOULDNT THINK I WAS AN ISLAND

Wyoming. It's nice and green... and it's cold, right?
When Sohan guessed where New Mexico was 🤣🤣🤣 it's okay girl not even a quarter of our citizens realize we are in the United States lmao 🤣 SIDE NOTE: please do a video where you try food from the Southwest ❤️
“New Texas”

Is Alaska an island?
good tricks, KFC Kentucky looks like a chicken leg, and Alaska is up over by Canada and is about 2/3s the side of the mainland, and Hawaii is an Island, Rhode island is one of the smallest states dellawer is the smallest, Maryland has our capital, we have a state that isnt connected to itself up north, Wisconsin is the cheese state because it makes cheese. Edit: also rip me no one got my state right, thats good old Missouri for you, just plain and center although Kansas has the most center point
Minnesota highest north other than Alaska
The only ones I think would be difficult are the Great Lake states and the New England states...because they don't really have uniqueness. Which is why they are often referred to by the region.
No uniqueness? How is that?
To be fair (regarding the Rhode Island thing), Rhode Island does indeed have a stupid name.
- signed, an american
I could neva
The hectic island is not an island. It is Alaska, but it is not an island. Also,Rhode Island is not an island
most americans also dont know where the states are on the map its not really as important as knowing where every country is in europe we border only 2 countries so geography is a pretty low priority for us here
who else is sad when your state is cut from the video :-(
lol Im an American and even I cant label all the countries correctly.
Have I got the right map? *laughs in European*
The answer to Sohan's question: "How do Americans remember all these?" Is that we don't... A large majority of Americans don't really know where everything is, except maybe the state that they're from and surrounding states
As a native Tennessean, I’m kinda disappointed where the woman in the green shirt put it.
This is gonna but me
Yeah i apparently live in Alabama now
They did netter than a lot of Americans. A co worker of mine did not know Canada was north of the USA.
That's horrible
Earth doesn’t wear blue jeans @sohan
i love it when nobody knows what my state is bc of how boring it isssss (i live in oklahoma)
As an Australian, I just want to apologise. I don't know if this is indicative. Probably. We hear the names of your states but I suspect a lot of Aussies don't know where to place most of them.
I am a geography Bee champion!!!!!
Aussies, I know your states, but my job is much easier than yours, in that you only have a territory and 6 states.
Just for the record, Alaska and Hawaii are put down in the area of Mexico because they're detached from the Lower 48 (to Alaskans)/the Mainland (to Hawaiians). In reality, Hawaii is around 2000 miles/3220km. SW of California in the Pacific at around the latitude of Mexico City. Alaska is down there because it's huge. Try finding a map of Alaska put over the top of the other 48. It stretches from the east coast to the west coast, up to the Canadian border, and down into Oklahoma--around 1/5 the size of the rest of the country.
Okay, how many Americans can name ONE Australian state?
In fact, most Americans can't even name half of the states.
Apparently Alaska=island
Don't feel bad, many Americans can't get all 50 states right. Most people get Florida and Texas first thing, the second and third-largest states population-wise.
Im from England but I know where all of them are and I know all of them of by heart so watching this is really annoying
