My granddad had an amazing wildlife garden with an "everything tree" in his backyard. It had various varieties of pear, apple, cherry and plum fruit all on the same tree. It was a huge and impressive tree, but when he died my aunt went crazy with grief. She began tearing down my granddads garden to give herself something to do, the tree was cut down during this time. It was a very special tree! All the apples varieties on it were within the same pollination group!
Today it's moths and leaves, tomorrow it'll be birds and fruit: there will always be something freeloading off your hard work. I like your planting amongst the margins and mixing it up, that'll be delightful when it matures.
As I learnt from my dad is to water the hole you dug first before you plant trees. It helps the tree roots go down deep and grow tougher against environments e.g. Wind and dry weather.
just a note on mulch. the amount of mulch needed depends on your climate. I'm in the desert in Arizona. I recommend 1-3 feet of wood chip mulch to retain moisture and keep the soil moist for fruit trees. once established your worms will eat that down every year into amazing humus soil. A man I follow has 1 foot of worm castings in his yard from 25 years of heavy mulching in the desert.
I would put some limb spreaders on that pear tree. The crotches are very narrow which makes them very weak. Add the weight of pears onto the limbs and you may get some breaking.
I’m always trying to plant more fruit trees. My recommendation to you is fig trees. They are easy to propagate. Plant those yummy figs! One could argue that fruit and nut trees are an amazing legacy to leave to our children’s generations.
With that level of caterpillar pest pressure, I'm beginning to think that each of your beautiful newly planted fruit trees deserves to have it's own individual companion bird box (on a stake just 3yds or so away). Think of it as a sentry box for avian guards on look-out duty!
Not sure how to ask this question but I’ve got a ton of roots in my land when I do dig a hole I get roots… all over the place. How do I know I’m not harming a current tree I want to hold on to? I’m scared to rip them out. Roots are everywhere. And I’m trying to plant new trees, just scared they won’t flourish if there are already so many roots in the ground from my mystery tree roots. ( also I got my Bring Back Botany tshirt I love!)
Looks like a wonderfull pear tree. All great advice. Especially not to change soil. I imagine everyone has seen a 25 ft tree fall. With just a little roundy round root structure and no roots going for new land for wide root structure (0;
When sand mixes with clay, it creates a soil structure akin to concrete. To create a real change in a clayey soil structure, you would need to use expanded shale, and organic matter (compost or leaf mold).
Minute 1:23 logees' owner said Palestine sweet lime he brought tears to my eyes knowing that they demolished my country name Palestine from the map and replace it by Israel😢 but trees still remember. May God give us our right back and be able to returns and see my home land
There doesn't seem to be, but apparently there is a virus when the population explodes. In my area they came and went in one season. I suspect that will be the case with this region as well.
I had to turn this off, I know that you may be trying to "educate" by referring back to the Spongy Months antiquated name, however your continued use of the old name (rather than inserting a photo or using the Latin term) perpetuates using the slur that it was changed from. Continuing to use it doesn't encourage others to change how they refer to it.

Would love to see how you prune these!

Columnar? Nice word. Had to look it up.
Agreed, in my experience planting trees in the fall has been more successful. Wonderful video.
Nice video of the tree service. They can use that for advertising 😁
Hi. Summer I have a question; why didn't you try planting via Ellen White method?
Mixing sand will help to soften the clay for ever because sand live longer
