  • In this Tutorial, it has been shown,how you could put a custom parabolic velocity profile at the inlet without using any User Defined Function (UDF) File.
    For this demonstration, a 2D pipe geometry has been selected, the Geometry is been created in ANSYS Design Modeler & Meshing in ANSYS Meshing.
    The ANSYS Fluent solver has been used for analysis. The tutorial's procedure can only apply to version ANSYS 19 R1 and above.
    What will you learn from this Tutorial?

    In the 2D model distance from the axis r is equal to Y, whereas in 3D r will be sqrt(Y**2+Z**2)

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 роки тому

      It depends on the plane. If its extruded along x-direction it would be sqrt(y**2+z**2)

    I have a question how do we realize that we have to use hybrid initialization or standard initialization ?

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 роки тому +2

      It depends on the problem. If you want to put the initial guess or any initial conditions you can use standard initialization. If you don't want to put then you can go for hybrid initialization.

      @@AnsysTutor At the Moment we insert a v_max as our starting velocity. But thats not the same as the "average velocity" over the whole inlet. Is there a way to just insert the de desired "Average velocity" rather than inserting v_max and use some iterations on calculating the average velocity appearing.

    @ansys Tutor, please what is the difference of selecting "outlet pressure" and "outflow" for the outlet boundary condition. does it means the pressure at the outlet is 0. which selection can be used for the pressure at the outlet have zero pascal value

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 роки тому +1

      You can use pressure outlet ,if you are aware about the outlet pressure value.

      hi Expert, the below expression for the velocity profile 0.001[m/s]*(1-(x**2+y**2)/(10[mm])**2). was the velocity of the problem given as 0.001 and the Radius of the pipe wall given as 10mm.

    I tried following your steps, I get an error message ("Empty Value") when I finish entering the velocity profile equation. what could be the problem. should I put a value for the x and y component OR Ansys understand it and solve accordingly

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 роки тому +1

      No need to put x &y value, only you need to check the expression , check if you had mentioned all the units and parameters etc. There should not be any space inbetween.

      how do I correct the following abnormally on the simulation carried out:
      1. there seems to be something strange happening with my velocity near the inlet.
      2. I expect the v velocity to be 0 or nearly zero everywhere.
      3. The pressure drop should be linear. but I am getting a different value

      For 2D case if flow is along x then its in xy plane or xz plane. For xy plane its similar as per the tutorial,but for xz plane you should take r =sqrt(x^2+z^2)
