- LBGs Lewis Trott and Kevin Bryant met Matt near the 26th North Carolina Monument to record an episode about color bearers in the Battle of Gettysburg. There are many stories from the Battle of Gettysburg about the men who had the peculiar honor of making a target of themselves by carrying their regiment's flag and we just scratch the surface in this episode.

I love when Kevin and Matt are going back and forth because it sounds like Weird Al and H Jon Benjamin talking about history and Im here for that lol
Haha thank you
This is so great
Thank you!
Well done as usual all the way around. Matt, Lewis, and Kevin. Flags are a point of pride.
Thanks!
Re: the VA/MN regimental flag issue, part of Virginia's argument for the return was that the flag wasn't being appropriately maintained/conserved. Which (of course) the curators in Minnesota disagreed about.
Ah. Interesting.
It's amazing what a piece of colored cloth can do. "Don't Tread On Me", "Come and Take It". Imagine a Marine on the Beach of Iwo Jima. Taking a beating ,then looking up and seeing the Flag on Mt Suribachi !
They hold meaning for sure.
Weren’t there two flags carried? A national color and a regimental color? It seems a bit peculiar that the stories all seem to recount “the flag.”
Good point. One person carries one flag. So since we’re talking about a particular color bearer’s story in each anecdote, it’s grammatically proper to refer to one flag.
Pretty good.
Thanks!
