- Learn how to make an origami cake slice box! The lid comes off the top, add cute origami or papercraft decorations! 🍰

A lot of people suggested a cake themed origami, I had actually made this box last year, it was a carrot though.. so it's now a cake slice! 🍰
It could also be a pizza 🍕, cheese 🧀, a tree 🌲, or other triangular shaped object 🍙🗻!
The lid is made from the same size as the bottom, with a layer in the middle holding it together as the 'cake filling'.
You could also make the lid by using larger paper and it would just fit on top like a normal box.

1 sheet of square paper for lid
1 sheet of square paper for the bottom.
I suggest using 15 x 15 cm
For the tutorial I used 20 x 20 cm
Cake 'filling': use A4 or letter paper / printer paper.

I have to say, out of all the cake slice tutorials I've seen, I like this one the most because it doesn't require a lot of cutting and gluing. The others require templates, tons of cutting and gluing and I really try to stay away from that when making origamis like this.

When I try to make origami videos:

Try putting gloves are blanked on fingers or tape it each finger
+Paper Kawaii ummmm I couldn't see the last fold for the back of the box I figured it out after trial and error but u might consider adding in some subscribe for that point to make it easier

Just finished folding a full set for a friend who makes soap that looks like slices of pecan pie; your box design worked perfectly though we had to go with slightly larger paper - used an 8.5" (21.59 cm) square and an 8" (20.32 cm) square - so I had to improvise a little with an extension for the center section. I'd post a picture of how it turned out except UA-cam doesn't let you do that in the comments section.
I would like to know how to make those little topper pieces that you add after 12:37 in the video. Do you have a link to instructions on how to make those?

I checked many videos but yours helped me a lot
Hehe... I found out a way to make the cake slices skinnier. Just need to fold the edges towards the center again at 0:53 and 0:59 to make the base skinnier and cut off the extra paper folded under. The slices will be half the width. Or in other terms, you'd need twice as many to make a full cake (It would be more rounded which was my goal). I also had to use extra finesse in several places because the folds were a bit harder considering there's less room to work with XD Still finessing it to see if I can make it look a bit neater at the back because there is extra paper. Guess ill cut off the excess :D Happy folding!

My, firstly i thought it's really simple, and yes, it is. But, when i tried the second cake layer, the size doesn't match, even though i used the same sized paper and the same way. maybe this is the first easy origami model that i found hard (because the bottom).
+Bianca Azzara Yes, that has happened to me, the folds at 3:32 are really important, if those are too different, it makes quite a difference, I'd say this is intermediate box though! 😄💗

I figured out at 6:48 that that fold was what messed me up quite a few times. If you fold two boxes but those folds are just a few milimeters off, one box will be noticeably shorter than the other when held side by side.
I folded 4 of the bottom/top parts and I just can't get any of them to match any of the other. The inlay just doesn't fit on one side. Really demotivating.
But I love the box.
