David Dalton was played by Charles Taylor. I'm not sure what happened to him but his last acting credit was from 2009. After the two-part Code of Vengeance episodes 1 & 2 of the series, there were two other episodes, episode 3 "Rustler's Moon" which aired July 27th and episode 4 "The Last Hold Out" which aired August 24th, 1986.
Oh my god, thank you for this. I always remembered that clip of him throwing a stick in the air to decide which way to go. I just couldn't remember the show. I saw it back in 85 and just thought this would be a cool series. Thank you for letting me know the name of it.
The opening song in this Pilot can also be heard in the ‘Knight Rider’ episode, “Hearts of Stone.” The second song heard (as Dalton arrives in town) is from the episode, “Diamonds aren’t a Girl’s best Friend” from ‘Knight Rider’.

I'd just realized, his name's Dalton, if my memory serves, another 80's action film Roadhouse, the late great Patrick Swayze's character with same name, Dalton.
This was pretty good. It is a shame it didn't take off and be bigger. I am sitting here wondering if I ever caught this on TV when I was a kid back then. It's possible, so long ago I am not so sure. lol Thanks for posting this rare movie.
Wow! Thank you guys!! Couldn't find this pilot for years! What a great surprise! Sad that authors have changed Dalton's character in "Code of vengeance". He was more interesting in the "Mouth of the snake" episode from Knight rider. Hope you'll download the second Dalton's tv-movie and two one-hour episodes. With best wishes!
The character of David Dalton (L. Charles Taylor) was first introduced in the two-part episode, “Mouth of the Snake” in season 2 of Knight Rider. Dalton was originally an action-oriented government agent. In “Code of Vengeance,” the character is reimagined as a flashback-prone Vietnam veteran who drifts across the country, encountering people in trouble, and helping them to find justice with his unique fighting skills. Although his physical agility, acrobatic skill, and martial arts expertise that Dalton displayed in “Mouth of the Snake” was toned down to a simpler, more violent, fighting style.
Not to brag, Europe they can't even make shit they copy paste from Hollywood, But I bought some movies from John Schneider and those are good movies. If you like to watch some renewed old film stuff from Smokey and the bandit or other action movies I do recommend his new made movies. @JohnSchneiderStudios.
And based on the dialogue, it was clearly the finale of the episode "KITT vs KARR", which based on when this pilot came out, was broadcast a year earlier. So, it was clearly a rerun!
"In a nod to the show's origins, Keenan Wynn's character is shown watching a Knight Rider episode, with KITT's voice clearly audible, as armed thugs surround his home" - Huth, Joe; Levine, Richie F. (January 2004). "Appendix G: Code of Vengeance". Knight Rider Legacy: The Unofficial Guide to the Knight Rider Universe. iUniverse Star. pp. 371-374. ISBN 978-0-595-29848-8. Retrieved March 22, 2010. Wikipedia entry for Code of Vengeance.
A half hour in, I am reminded very much of the movie "Shane." A quiet drifter comes into town, stays at the ranch where he's helping out, a little boy looks up to the drifter who teaches him to be a man.
I just saw that episode of Knight Rider called "The Mouth of the Snake" & totally thought it had to be a set up for a spin off series of Knight Rider. Guess I was right!!
I was born in 73 and can remember all the kids talking about knight rider the next day at school. Wasn’t allowed to watch it cuz it was on at 9 pm and I had to goto bed at 9 on school nights. Eventually I think the day and time changed and I was able to watch it. I loved Erin in Silver Spoons. She was so hot! I don’t really remember the mouth of the snake episodes and I don’t remember this but with the pandemic I’ve watched all the good Knight Rider episodes, including mouth of the snake and can still remember what I was doing when some of those episodes were on....I was 9, 10, 11 and 12 years old before I finally went off the air so suddenly.
You can see so many Larson heroes in this. Yes he's tall rugged dispensing justice and saving just about everyone. So he's like a Steve Austin, Michael knight, Highwayman with a pinch of Buck Rogers, Renegade mixed in..... that's just absolutely awesome. Should have had many more episodes.

I'd just realized, his name's Dalton, if my memory serves, another 80's action film Roadhouse, the late great Patrick Swayze's character with same name, Dalton.
Zactly!😅
He does👍
One my uncles is his doppelganger,I showed my dad and he agreed they look alike.
Dalton from Roadhouse. Anyone else thinking that?
This was pretty good. It is a shame it didn't take off and be bigger. I am sitting here wondering if I ever caught this on TV when I was a kid back then. It's possible, so long ago I am not so sure. lol Thanks for posting this rare movie.
41:00 old guy watches knight rider on tv lol 😂
18:13. Did you also notice Colt's Seavers pickup in the background. Lol!
KITT vs KARR. The moment Michael prepping to talk to Karr on loudspeaker 👍🏻😁 One of my favorite episodes!
the only reference to Knight Rider in this entire movie
Thanks for the upload!
This is actually pretty damn good. I’m surprised. I’d watch this today. Bring him back!

The Inspiration for Patrick Swayze Road House. 😉
I really hope they do or can too!!💕😎👍
Me too Dec 3 1972 old 📺 programs are the best brings back so many memories.😁
Thank you for sharing this film, your YT channel is very cool, I like it. 🔥🔥🔥

Comes in to make a addition to house leaves after house is completely destroyed 🤔 well done
3:53 if bad guys fought like that in real life, the world would be a safer place.
That was totally rad!
This🌟 is🌟 80s🌟 TV 🌟Moovie 🌟 *GOLD* 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
4 minutes in? i Like this guy,,, gunna be a GOOD oldie!!!
Thank you for sharing this Knight Rider Historyian
@@GrazyfarmerI have been meaning to watch his new stuff . Sad to hear about his wife
@@NZMOPAR his only wife, that men has more character then almost whole hollywood combined.
So this is like a cross between Highway to Heaven and the A*Team???
I could easily watch more episodes , Thanks
It is one of those “it’s so bad that it’s good” movies.
The old man was watching knight rider on tv but you can only hear it
Came looking for this comment. Weird since it's supposed to be a spin off.
The kid in this is Chad Allen.. he was also on Our House with Shannon Dorherty and Wilfred Brimley
And Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman
he is a gay
how can this be a spin off when knight rider was playing on the tv ?? 41:13
Did anyone notice the voice of "KITT" addressing "Michael" starting at about the 41:16 mark as "Ole man" was watching TV? LOL
Sure did
And based on the dialogue, it was clearly the finale of the episode "KITT vs KARR", which based on when this pilot came out, was broadcast a year earlier. So, it was clearly a rerun!
that's from kitt vs karr
"In a nod to the show's origins, Keenan Wynn's character is shown watching a Knight Rider episode, with KITT's voice clearly audible, as armed thugs surround his home" - Huth, Joe; Levine, Richie F. Where's the cool black car with the Cylon light on its fascia?
I thought this wasn't showing again👍👍👍
I kinda felt like I was watching an episode of Renegade
That's what was made instead of this
Nah this was less corny
A half hour in, I am reminded very much of the movie "Shane." A quiet drifter comes into town, stays at the ranch where he's helping out, a little boy looks up to the drifter who teaches him to be a man.
Man I love Shane. Now ya made me wanna watch it
I just saw that episode of Knight Rider called "The Mouth of the Snake" & totally thought it had to be a set up for a spin off series of Knight Rider.
Liked this. If I hadn’t had read the intro, I’d have said it was a pilot for from a Jack Reacher novel!
thanks so much. i have never seen that one. wait tell I tell my friend Don Peake about it.
what a great guy.
"RENEGADE" wasn't a LARSON Hero.
Was created by STEPHEN J. CANNELL.
GLEN A. LARSON created or was involved with the rest of 'em,though.🤷♂️
@@GMO--ge4ir Nice one thanks for the info.🙂
