The trigger delay is actually because most LMGs and HMGs fire from an open bolt. This means the bolt releases with the trigger pull, chambers the round and fires it and resets the bolt. Having an open bolt reduces the heat left in the chamber that could cook off ammo and damage the gun. Props to NWI for accuracy in this game.
The uzi doesn't do this. It's open bolt. The p90 and mp7 both behave as 9mm when they're both designed for armor penetration. You're giving undeserved props. And I LOVE insurgency.
LMGs are the SUVs of FPS games, they're big and heavy, but also have lots of horsepower and torque and a 4wd system for extra stability, they lack manoeuvrability but the extra weight and 4wd keeps them firmly planted on the road, plus they can push smaller cars into trees.

honestly one of the best guns in the game IMO. It drops fuckers in one shot and can basically be used like a semi auto Mosin if you get used to the delay. On top of that it's a fuggin machine gun and can shred people through walls. Point firing is controllable enough to sprint in to a building and mow the grass with shock and awe. Recoil isn't even that bad when controlled. It's also cheap and doesn't need attachments. Idk, I just never have a bad game with a PKM.
When I asked the devs why a 25 pound hunk of steel carrying an extra 6 pounds of ammo on a box rises to the sun like a yogi in the morning after 4 shots, the answer I got was that it was for balance against other fps games using LMGs as Assault Rifles. When I asked for evidence, they immediately went to CoD.
The man does not miss. Funnily enough, 60m is almost dead on the mark where the PKM stops one-shotting heavy armor in the chest, at least according to the damage charts. It also never one-shots on lower limbs (forearm, calf) at any range. Granted, neither does the M240 or MG3 (though both of those one shot heavy armor in the chest up to ~150m) Also, if you ask me, I feel like a good player can go a lot further with an M240/MG3 than with an M249 + 2pts of stuff, just because the penetration and range gives it so much more flexibility on where someone can set up. But then again, camping is one thing in coop, in versus it's a different thing so ymmv
I play coop and m60 has similar damage to the m240, decent sights pretty heavy recoil but bipod it up and it’s a laser that one taps the same way the m240 does. Also as a gunner, the second you get an ammo carrier and your weapon, a pistol with QuickDraw holster can save your ass in a reload
Yes,on paper the PKM has several negatives but in reality if you have a great map knowledge and positional talent you might find angles on every map where you can hold down whole streets with it and shred the enemy to pieces,and since it kills in few bullets the fact that you have 100 rounds is perfect. I like this gun very much, usually i bring it if there are no snipers available because with a 4 time scope and bipod,with precize bursts you can snipe with it.
The 249 is gonna be sick to watch lmao. It’s shorter than the others, has the fire rate to back it up, and the ability to prefire while slicing the pie and still having 70 or more rounds left in the belt is batshit insane.

Not only do these bots run much faster than other bots or players, but they ALSO have increased health for some fucking reason. Not even the Mosin-Nagant can one-shot a Banger at point-blank range. It's pretty cringe. Edit: Oh, and also, the MG3 is laughably easy to spray in close quarters.

The entire point of Insurgency Is that people die very fast, and New World adds an enemy that has roughly triple the normal HP and carries an LMG that fires at 1200 RPM and one-shots your Heavy Armor from across the map. Now THAT's cringe.
Oh that explains why Outpost is so unpopular apart from the shit supply department limiting your weapon usage about as bad as Push. I thought it was just bad teammates getting their butt handed to them but I guess its NWI giving the AI funny additions apart from their already GPS seeking nades and molotovs and wallhacks.

I agree that it would be interesting to give LMGs normal recoil, but find a way to implement the worse handling of this platform to limit the running and gunning. For the "lack of accuracy", I think it's more a matter of weird hitreg that has been in Sandstorm for quite some time where you're dead on target but your shots don't register. I mean, I don't call it the One Tap M for nothing because, when hitreg doesn't fuck you over, you have an SVD with 100 rounds if you can hit that first shot. As for the 1 shot consistency, the same can be said about the MG3 and M240B. Hell, I find it happens even more often with the others if you hit arms or something. That said, the fire rate can really screw you over when one guy crossing a street has the luck to never be in your sights the moment a bullet fires. On the plus side, it makes you conserve ammo more so it gives you more freedom with sustained suppressive fire.
You can give all of the guns "realistic" or should I say authentic recoil if you decouple recoil and idle sway from the camera. Would prevent full auto lasering that's possible now and give LMG's a place.

I would also make weight have a more significant impact on handling to limit the running and gunning like by increasing the time it takes to raise the weapon after a sprint.
@@Vagabond671 believe it or not, Modern Warfare 2019 decoupled some horizontal recoil from the camera and introduced it as bounce. Squad does it somewhat, as does Ground Branch and Arma. It can be adapted to a more arcade system but there is an obsession with "recoil patterns" that just mean people like me pull their mouse down while tracking.

As a habitual PKM user I’ve got a few tips. Never ever shoot it while standing. Go crouch. If you’re room clearing, don’t even bother with the iron sights. I’m pretty sure most of my PKM kills come from hip fire while room clearing.
PKM and M249 are the go to guns for classic Insurgency 2 players (like me) who are very allergic to weight or are very keen to run to weird locations to get a crazy angle.
Da, PKM is excellent machine gun.👍 Sure, may not be as accurate as M240, or any other Machine gun, but still kicks ass. Is cheap, powerful, Slavic slaughterer. I run mine with compensater, optic,(usually PK-AS), and maybe laser if I have the points. I also like the PKM IRL, along with all the other old Soviet guns. My favorite part about coop is that you can use all the Insurgent equipment as Security meaning I get to use all the vintage Soviet guns to kill the Insurgents with their own guns. Plus, an added bonus is you can kill an Insurgent that has a PKM, and then your team has another gunner. Or you can just steal it and shoot off all his limbs and his head so he's just an armless, legless, headless thing rolling down the road, like turd in the wind. (Yes, that's a Venom reference).
Despite the shortcoming of this PKM, I do like the design and sound of it. It may not do it's job well, but it is absolutely fun to use. That being said, I probably shouldn't use this gun for clearing rooms for fun. Also, hopefully the M249 would at least be a viable option for clearing rooms (even when it's not meant for that)
It probably won't happen, but I have some ideas on how to make MGs better but balanced 1. less recoil than BRs because they're super heavy 2. a more substantial stamina penalty while running and a stamina penalty for aiming while standing 3. no stupid long animation for setting the gun on something with the bipod 4. make it so the more weight you carry the slower your character comes to a complete stop
I love the PKM. It is not my favorite weapon but whenever I use it I tend to be tops in kills for the match. Burst firing this thing seems unfair at times
Just saying because of the Falling Down reference I actually have a Will Foster skin I like to play with a proper basic uzi. I couldn't help myself when I realized I can make a pretty accurate skin.
its my go too for pvp insurgency when im playing gunner, i prefer it over the mg3 cause the rpm of the mg is a bit much and i cant seem to hit targets too well from the recoil, shakes too much when prone, however i wont ever run a pkm without a 4x and a compensator so the shaking is bearable
Maybe a more effective way to convey the mass of machine guns would be to severely increase weapon sway? I've shot 8lbs of rifle while standing & without support, and keeping the sight on a small target is difficult at best. Shouldering 20lbs+ would absolutely suck.
LMGS have been use as weapon for support fire since they can shoot alot more bullets then Assault rifles and also who would be crazy enough to run through Warzone with full kit PKM
I hate the logic of making MGs bad by giving them high recoil. They weigh so much that wouldn't really be an issue. Give them slow ads, more sight wobble, hell more side to side recoil. But making them kick to the sky is stupid, lazy, and not fun in the slightest
It's so weird that game devs don't understand the obvious way to balance MGs: instead of excessive recoil, just make it so carrying one makes you slow as fuck and have shit stamina. But I guess CoD kids will get mad if they can't sprint everywhere 24/7.

why don't games just do machine guns the same way day of defeat did them? the MGs in Day of Defeat and Day of Defeat Source where some of the best weapons in that game, but they we're countered by their recoil and soldier's armed with rockets.

It does, but to be honest, I prefer the PKM, but the 240 is definitely way more accurate.

@@kyles9937 The M4 is a tad bit different from a AR-15 but it’s the same thing lol. When I learned how to disassemble a M4 at Basic training and I bought a AR it was the exact same parts and everything but the M4 is full auto and illegal for us to have 😂
