I ran them for most of 35 years. The best one had a Detroit in it. It would roast the tires. The thing about it that sucked was the top of the rear door opening was low for going in and out over a 100 times a day. When you hit the top of your head wirh a hat on, you would end up on the floor.
Hey. So basically you have a CB Radio on you cab . They will radio you to put or pull trailers out of docks all day. Organized the yard prior to your duties
@@JoeyDrones ok. Thought maybe it was a work sheet that required name trailer number. Maybe some places do. CB sure would make it easier Let the office deal with that. 👍thanks for getting back to me.
Hi i just recently got hired as a yard jockey for fedex ground and is really struggling to back up short trailers 😭 ive been watching your videos and other videos like this and im on my 4th day of training and is still struggling…
Perhaps you might want to look at this video . Link below 👇🏼 😅20 FT CONTAINERS ARE A LOT HARDER TO MANEUVER THAN A 53FT . Video how I do it ✊🏼🚛💨 ua-cam.com/video/JwjPOQj1nlo/v-deo.html
We used to use them for log trailers. No brakes, no lights, no chains, and tyres as bald as f*** on the trailers, (which were all bent and cracked to shit). For a company that has "Home Safely Every Day" on their shirts, kinda bullshit. Up to 40+ tonnes of logs per trailer, on wet and slippery surfaces - not exactly confidence inspiring...
Thanks for the video how much do yard jockeys make per hour are you making at least $25 an hour ? I've been told it's very demanding job usually 12 hours
@@JoeyDrones I was just curious about how bad the fumes are driving one of those all day I figured it was bad I had an offer to go drive one but I think I'll stack with my propane school bus driving job and save my lungs since I have asthma thankyou for the response.
Gotta interviews for a yard job this week. Better than delivering food up steps all day.
Good luck 👍🏼 be safe
you just moving trailers on a lot?
When out of truck i pull truck parking brake just so it doesn't roll, be safe out there Joey Drones
That is so cool.

I can’t find a video on any paper work that a yard driver has to do. I’m sure it’s more than writing a trailer numbers

If i wanna start a career as a yard dog like where do i go for training etc i k ow cdl ar every expensive
Hey . You can search on Google. But some companies you are required to have your CDL some don’t depending on your home state .
Some companies don't require a CDL since you're only driving on the yard & will train you to get your CDL

@@JoeyDrones that is terrible
Depends on the area but where I am, around $23 an hour.
Dont forget the tug test bro,
Always step down cat walk facing the truck bro be safe.
Why do some yard dogs drive on public roads in my area ?
Those are the ones that require CDL. They probably move trailers for one yard to another.
@@JoeyDrones oh ok do you know any companies that hire ones to drive on. The road
The only company that I could think of is Amazon TJX . Do your research
How much you make brother?
Hey brother. Yard dog job pay varies from $14 to $21:50 and hour
