Brilliant. Don’t know why these vids are so addictive! Suspense. Mystery. Unfolding clues. 🕵️♂️ Stickers on a wall. All of life is there. Well… some of it anyway. Thanks Mr Kitch.
For what it's worth, I love your long videos, I just don't always have the time to watch them in one go. Love that Sirion, it's just so weirdly attractive.
Bella's new MAF sensor may elevate it a bit, and while that may still not return it back to "full" "power" (I wasn't sure which to pop in ""), you'd at least hope it was above its current position.
Really enjoyed geeking out to that!! Also have to say, "Yaris from Wish" had me spit my Pepsi out... the 1.0 engine on what is now my ex-Yaris is a four cylinder version, 1SZ-FE (I think); it didn't smoke at 150,000 miles but it had begun to make "I am tired of this life..." noises. So that, and having terminal rear-end rot means it's going on the Bay for bits...
I own a first gen Sirion. The take away from this is if I want to improve the real world usable power I should fit a free flowing air filter. Like a DNA or K&N. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.
Gen II? I'm not sure what that is, but this 1KR-FE engine went into this shape Sirion and replaced the one before it (the same engine as HubNut's Charade - EJ I think?)
@@UPnDOWN As I understand it there were two generations of the Sirion: the M100 (mine) and the M300 (yours). I wonder what happened to the M200? I think mine has the EJ-DE engine or maybe EJ-FE. How can you tell if the engine has VVT? I believe some did and some didn't.
I really enjoy your references to Bella can you beat Hubnut and it really good to see the Daihatsu Sirion has stopped smoking because of potions and the Sirion nearly got there but did improve with the spark plug replacement and you are the only you tube channel that does dyno runs with ordinary cars the ones people daily drive
I love screaming the t*ts off my Sirion but it is doing a bit of that smokey stuff so I need to go back to the potions video and work out what to pour in mine. Any idea what made the most difference? I'm guessing the Seafoam in the bores? No, she's not a great handler but surprisingly smooth ride for a small car!
Remap should be 68 to 75hp on average and with k&n panel filter should be around 78. Then back box may allow to creep to 79 ish. City car cup spec is around 79 if I remember. Our Peugeot 107 has a different style airbox on same engine however. We have just a trumpet on the end of the box and not the snorkel. Wonder if that would make a difference as it’s a factory change…
Bit of fine mesh on the throttle body held on with a jubilee clip! Good to go. Just avoid the storm eh? Them little Toyota 3 pots can be surprisingly under quoted. I had a Aygo show 77.5 on a Dyno with no more than cleaned injectors, a good service, a cheap universal BMC airbox and three foot of flexible ducting . Unfortunately I never had a 'before' reading so no Idea if I had a good motor from the box. I'm tempted to buy another one and shelter from the storm with a Dremel porting/ polishing the head. You can have first Dyno dibs if you want!!
So 35 mins to share that driving normally, revving to 3/4000, they're exactly the same power output, filter/filter box in or (don't do it) out. Just keep up with the service items. Nice. Snow foam gets a 👍
BX :D ... Daihatsu is a very good JDM manufacturer that makes small cars ,the sirion is not pretty for me, but you must try on the dyno one YRV (looks like a later mitsubishi colt) Turbo, but bare in mind that some of them are 4WD ...
That torque step at 3000-3200rpm is a bit odd. A bit like V6 Duratecs opening secondary throttles. I've never run an engine with the airbox off - should the cranckcase vent chuck out so much oil vapour? That would infer quite a bit of gas bypassing the rings. If you need a bit more power, maybe a gearbox oil change?
Bella has had a new Maf sensor fitted & its driving better now so maybe all to play for lol, maybe stupid bloks (Tim) would bring the shitter down for a run
Shame but then that would be a hell of a trip in a C1 I'm guessing. Still good to know that all the potions worked & stopped it form smoking so that's a result.
@@tichwykes yea mine has pretty much stopped smoking, and did gain a bit of compression. It’s using far less oil too! There’s a video on my channel of it if you’re interested in that type of thing
btw -has anyone worked out why this 3cyl engine when in a Daihatsu smokes so much with higher mileages but doesn't seem to do so in the 3 City Bugs that use it?
These ickle Daihatsusus suffer much the same as all the toyota engins - oil burning/smoking. Most of it stems from the PCV system - it blocks. This is also a huge problem for lots of other makes - I'm looking at you, recent year Fords... PCV blocks, engine pressurises itself, oil burning ensues. Replace the PCV/rocker cover. Thank me laterz.
London based man with ADHD here, I watched all 35:37 minutes of this video. Also, I have a poorly maintained 1KRFE powered Daihatsu Sirion M300 with a catback (non standard) stainless steel exhaust - wanna borrow it for comparison?
That would need a cold air inlet too, otherwise you are drawing in hot air, which is less dense. Whilst it would make the high speed power better, It might also make the low-down torque worse.
Not really. As long as it's getting atmospheric temperature it's fine. Sucking hot air from under the bonnet would be worse, but not many cars do that these days.
It was supposed to be Scitt but someone changed the spelling so it was Skit the shit skip. We do just say the Sirion as we don't really name cars. The last owner called it Hattie though.

the cameo from the bird and your response was surprisingly entertaining!

It got the powa
Get it remapped 😂
ahh now this is the nerdery thats missing in most dyno videos! the hows, whys, techy stuff answered!
Love this video! I'll watch any amount of old bangers being thrashed on a dyno by a Citroen nerd with a great sense of humour 👍
Truly fascinating! Keep at it 👍
Vroom! Vroom! VROOM! 💣💥 Haha. 😂
Educational and entertaining as ever Rich. Roll on. To the next Dyno extravaganza 💣💥
no longer smoking? i guess its out of oil
I love this channel. Everything on it is just lovely.
I enjoyed that as it’s interesting what little things we do to our cars make difference in performance 😂😂😂 keep up the good work

So quite impressive performance for a 1.0 l car !!!
Yes, I'd say so. If only it actually felt nippy on the road!

Jon of Autoshananigans has just recommissioned his BMW V8. Does he know something we don't?
It might have a fair bit of power - will Kitch dyno an S reg BMW 735i soon?
Can Kitch's dyno measure automatics ... Do you need to put in the clutch to get the rollers slowing down as part of the measurement?
@tomwinch9107 I never thought of that. It's not really in the Hubnut/Up&Down category either. We'll see.

“Magnetic Aluminium” sounds like something Lord Percy would try to invent in Blackadder II…..
I like to call this the daihatsu sirloin.
You could try an induction kit?
I'm not *that* bothered haha!
Temu Yaris. I have heard that small toyotas can respond well to pcv valves an they are also pretty cheap.

How about a road impressions between dumpit and "the Daihatsu"
Best to do as std vs non std I think on both. 😊 g
Glad you are trying it with new plugs, be good to see what difference it makes with 99 octane too 😀
was perhaps that sparkulator plug a tad warm?
Easily your best yet!

Is the next Dyno video an SM?
What ?! No Dyno vids for three years ?? Oh nooo 😮
I could video it in the same shot as the dyno, if that counts?

do you think a performance air filter would make a difference

Bosch plugs in a Toyota…you heathen.
